Alasha - Jakob Schubert on Mallorca's hardest deep water solo lines | Part 1
Спорт
On his first real deep water solo trip to Mallorca, Jakob got his hands on some of the hardest lines on the island. Watch him getting the second ascent of one of Chris Sharma's test pieces - Alasha. With the crux consisting of a 8a boulder problem 15 meter above the water, a completely different mindset was needed on this one.

4:20 “We’ve tried to be very careful” as he backflips into the water 😂
Sharma was so ahead of his time in pretty much every style bouldering, sport, dws. Even today the next gen lads are fighting hard to keep up with his legacy. 🤙🤙🤙

@@j3f423 Beast, yes. But also the imagination to find inspiring climbs at the limit of ability and still send them. Not sure any climber has put up as many _iconic_ lines.

Chris Sharma is still alive 😄 He is just 42🙂
Sick! One thing I keep loving about Jakob is that he always gives space to fellow climbers in his videos.
Just amazed by the quality of the video. Could definitely have its place in a reel rock. Beautiful images and emotions captured. Can't wait to see the next part.
The friendship in this vid is a special highlight 😊
Ahhhh so much hype!! I am Spanish and have actually tried psicoblocs in Mallorca and I swear even the easiest stuff is just terrifying can't even imagine how focused you need to be for those moves in Alasha. Really cool video!!
Wow! Thats incredible and the video quality is like a Hollywood movie!
What a super cool adventure!
wundervoll. danke für diese einblicke in euer leben
The production quality on this one is stunning
Great content, looking forward to part 2.
The cheering from the boat as Kruder and Jakob were trading attempts on Alasha was beautiful.
unreal production value, camera work and storytelling. great work for everyone involved with shooting, editing and producing it! And congrats, Jakob!!
Amazing performance! Also Jakob's team has the best video editing and directing from all the KZread-climbers. Amazing work!

Production values and story telling are on point, but it would be nice to see longer uncut stretches of actual climbing.
Had goosebumps at the end of the video! The energy, the climbing, the places 🤩
Jakob, this was an extraordinary video. It's a pleasure to watch you climb, and to see you top Alasha was something special. Thank you for sharing
As more of a climbing fan than an actual climber, I can say that I LOVE deep water soloing videos. They are some of the best overall footage in the history of outdoor sports.
Really puts a spotlight on the vision and genius of Chris Sharma.
We are climbers and mountaineers we aren’t the best swimmers. Immediately does a gainer off a 50ft cliff 😂. Awesome video! Also thanks for giving Sebastian some screen time, he’s the best!!
Crazy how good sharma is. the routes he set up are absolutely mind blowing still to this day
Es Pontas is for me the most beautiful route ever. There is a super nice video about it with a french climber, Alban Levier
Love your videos Jakob, they're so well done. This trip looked like such a blast!
Herzliche Gratulation zum Durchstieg von Alasha!! Mega gemacht.💪🏽 Danke auch der ganzen Crew für das coole Video. Ich freue mich auf Part II 🤗
For those wondering, sport grade for Alasha seems to be around 9a (for Jakob) to 9b (estimate from Chris Sharma)! Great video and very nice glimpse into the mental aspects of climbing deep water soloing above your onsight level!

Did Sharma repel into Alasha? I like Jacob but just seems right to respect the style

@@alpsolutpictures3547 Okay happy to hear that! It did make me feel a little uneasy if that wasn't how it was first done. Mad respect to Jacob given it took Chris 5 years!!
Brutal!!!
Such a beautiful video! Congrats Jakob for the amazing feat 👏
22:10 translated: "I never knew where the crux was because it looked so easy" 😂
Super excited when watching this. Well done man!
siiick i was waiting for this videos from Mallorca
"trying to be pretty careful" *Proceeds to do a backflip from 15m 😂😂
Unglaublich! Glückwunsch für den Durchstieg! War auch schon öfter in Mallorca zum dws. Man erlebt den Klettersport einfach nochmal ganz neu...Ein unbeschreibliches Gefühl💪😌
waited for this for so long! Great video, stunning editing, great climbing.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Amazing production, this film definitely deserves so much attention! Amazing effort Jakob! 😀
Great video thanks. The sound is fantastic on it!
Really enjoyed watching your story unfold and listening as you explained what was going on as well as the history of the area and routes. You made the experience come alive for someone watching the video, excellent work on the video and the send!
So you actually sent Jernej ahead to check if the jellyfish are ok! Well well well 😂
Such a well done video! I was stoked to see some scenes in the "easier routes" part in Cala Varques, one of my favorite spots ever.
Congrats!! That was amazing to watch the process and completion. 🔥 💪🏽
Great send, Jakob!! I'm always a little torn to see Sharma's hardest lines get repeats, because in my heart, he will always be the man, and that means someone is inching closer to his legacy. Regardless, congrats to you!
Amazing content. Already hyped for Part 2🔥
the cinematographer snapped on this shit
what I've always wondered is how you organize your wet shoes and chalkbags? do you just bring that many pairs, or do you just wait until they're dry again?

You need a few pairs. You don't need many, in the sun and wind they dry relatively quickly.
@daventure

It's not that complicated. First the shoes dry pretty quick and even slightly wet shoes can be used since the rubber dries fast. Chalk you bring a couple of chalk bags and only fill them up with the amount you need for a climb. There are also plastic chalk bags you can use. They dry pretty fast in the Sun A cheaper alternative for us not pros would be liquid chalk that you put on before the climb

You can see some pairs drying at 11:13
Wow, great work! DWS looks awesome, can't wait to see Es Pontas, I've fallen in love with Sharma's video, hope to see yours soon

Was that Jessy Pilz in a Team Japan jersey at the end there??
15:36 definitely took two takes after bringing the shirt in the pool or the first dive 😂
Crazy Spot! What are the easiest routes there? Asking for a friend 😉
a question for all you out there, obviosly if you fall into the water the chalk gets wet, it's not reusable right? then it's just wasted? please prove me wrong if i think wrong
amazing video :) so this was the second ascend of Alasha?
Prokrastinieren?! Kann ich 💪
Super nice content! Thanks. How many chalkbags did you bring?
that was amazing hehe
Port de Soller the most beautiful place in the world.Gotta love my magical and legendary Mallorca. With the ocming spriritual awakening people will discover what Mallorca really is and they will faint =).Having an open mind is vital and a blessing. We are in the age of aquarius which is when the truth/real history would be revealed. Its called a spiritual awakening for a reason because we werent taught the truth. It is a glorious time to be alive.Rejoice good people.
Can you recommend something easier on Mallorca, like 6b or so?
Bro I PROMISE it’s totally gonna be a more chill trip I’m not going to like project 9a or anything
Eres un makinon!! Bicho!! :)
First of all: congratulations for that great achievement and this excellent video. I also wear glasses, so I've avoided deep water soloing so far, but I'd love to do it. So my question is: do your glasses have so few dioptres that you can climb without them, or is it possible to do that with contact lenses?
I just realized I habe the same climbing shorts as Jakob, so you could say I am somewhat of a pro climber myself 😂
Did Sharma also use a rope to work the movies or did he work it ground up?
Wasn't this 2 years ago?
@3:08 Jakob's nuts scraping this guy's head
I was also going climb it but was worried I waste too much chalk in case I fall 😂 I promise this was the reason I didn’t
I have a question: When they are having so many tries and they are falling every time in the water and the calk bag gets wet. Afterwards it is wet and cannot be used anymore. I wondering how they do this? Do they have a lot of chalk bags and they let them dry over night?
Did you have to change chalk bags after every fall? how doest that work?
How many pair of shoes and chalk bags did you use?
How many chalk bags do these guys have?
Ahhh what we would do without water?=)
What happend with the chalk?
What about the chalk in the water
