Just heard this being played on the radio earlier this morning. I have always loved Alannah Myles. I am still amazed her career didn't skyrocket like it should have. One thing remains, especially in this song, but with her other songs too, the sheer power, tone, and tenderness of her amazing voice melts me to tears. I'm a 50-year-old man and I ain't embarrassed to admit that. She just stops me in my tracks and touches my soul.

I understand what your saying Music and Movie Fanatic. How can you not be jealous when the one you love and feel so drawn and connected to, could right at this moment be in a passionate embrace w/ another. Instead of their body intertwined with yours, it’s intertwined w/ theirs. It’s like your crying tears of blood, it aches so bad, your head, stomach, your bones aching. You just have to find away to keep living. Help others. Love unconditionally. Keep looking to a bright and better future. Don’t Look Back. Don’t Give Up. You never know and you have no idea what the next day will bring. The best days are yet to come. Stay positive. Take care🦋❤️🌹

She had a great voice! Was reading some of the comments & people must realize at the time, this whole album “Alannah Myles” her debut was a big success. She won a Grammy for it. What killed her career at the time was because of this success. She developed a huge ego and was extremely rude when being interviewed & developed a bad reputation because she acted like she was all that because of her success. After a while word got around of her ego, self righteous behaviour & that’s what killed her career. No one else had a hand in it but her. I still like her music but just thought I’d clear the air. I remember all the negative press at the time etc

She is a beauty and and amazing voice still remember "love is" on TV as a teenager, didn't know this power ballad she truly get in to one.
To all of you younger people... You AINT never gonna see or hear new music like this ever again, so enjoy our older generation absolutely the most beautiful songs there is..
Almost 30 years later and this tune still has juice. She was my favourite female vocalist of that era. That growling affectation she does still gets me going. She was way more talented than many who enjoyed more commercial success. I only saw her once....but what a show!!!

In Canada, when this CD was released- for several years, this was mainstream, played everywhere- in every shopping mall, radio station, songs like Black Velvet, Lover of Mine, Love Is, and others from this CD, are some of the biggest Canadian rock hits of all time. :)

The power behind that final F#5... mindblowing, imense! Gorgeous woman, gorgeous voice, gorgeous song!
This is my favorite song from her debut album. It's a ballad which stays as ballad, and not like most 80's ballads which begin as ballads and grow as rock songs. That's why it is a very unique song.

Absolutely love this song and her! I started seeing my future husband when her album came out. So many great memories with her music. I always want to hold my husband in my arms. Love him so much. He’ll always be “a lover of mine” ❤️❤️
Beautiful , natural . amazing and free Alannah !!! Her voice is needed !!!
Why do I feel like I'm losing you Will it ever become what I've always wanted it to You tell me I'm the lucky one How can you say that when it breaks my heart to see another woman with you Oh-oh, lover of mine Oh-oh-oh, lover of mine When it hurts so bad I wanna hold you in my arms Make me feel like you wanna be a lover of mine After we've said all there is to say Am I still in you heart or am I just in your way My desire for you is running wild Jealousy, the dangerous kind, when I see you lookin' at another woman that way Oh-oh, lover of mine Oh-oh-oh, lover of mine When it hurts so bad I wanna hold you in my arms Make me feel like you wanna be a lover of mine Please, set me free or give me your reason For tryin' to keep it alive There is no need for us to be lonely Gimme some kinda hope, I'm walking a fine line Oh-oh, lover of mine Oh-oh-oh, lover of mine When it hurts so bad I wanna hold you in my arms Make me feel like you wanna be a lover of mine Make me feel like you wanna be a lover of mine Make me feel like you wanna be a lover of mine

Saw Ms Myles on 6 occasions. First early in her career and lastly at one of her last appearances. Talked to her once. Would have liked to known her better. Even now, I'd love to sit with her for a spell. I think she'd enjoy a gentle, caring fan just to sit with, no expectations, no pressure, just the company of a fan.

Magic song 80s...

My Mother used to sing this, when it first came out .... Was she thinking of Dad ?? Wow.
Damn! This woman is more beautiful than a clear cool summer night! #loverofmine 😍😍
Best vocalist ever!!
My neighbor , I heard this day after day in the Beaches .Toronto , Didn't realize it was live. Can you imagine singing songs like this on tour night after night ? DEVASTATING
