It's hard to maintain your integrity once invited into the 'system,' also known as a major record deal. The establishments lawyers make you sign away a lot of your artistic freedoms. Most consumers never think about this aspect of the music industry.

My fav is Rihanna, but i admit that she did so many "mainstrean" songs just to seal (but she have a lot of other songs that are so well worked) , and thats sad because the artista stays on a confort zone. As someone struggling with bipolar disorder, the lyrics “this is the life of extremes, both sides are slippery and enticing, these are my places off the rails” hit so hard. I feel like I could have written this in my journal. Thank U, Alanis ❤️

My impression is that record companies try to score a singer with the image of Fiona Apple in the 90s. For me they tried with Lorde and now it's Billie's turn. And it is not to say that all these women are not talented! They are. But how they try to sell them as 'weird' or 'alternative' may not be so genuine .

I think she's one of the most underrated singers in the world, but I hope it's gonna change now after "Such Pretty Forks in the Road".
This, is my song of recovery. Addiction is a horrid road. This song encapsulates both sides of the storm. Alanis, thanks for sharing your spirit in the form of voice and music.
This is a life of extremes Both sides are slippery and enticing These are my places off the rails And this, my loose recollection of a falling I barely remember who I failed I was just trying to keep it together This is my first wave of my white flag This is the sound of me hitting bottom This my surrender, if that's what you call it In the anatomy of my crash And I keep on smiling Keep on moving Can't stand still Me, the notorious bottom dweller Me, the ceiling-less brave explorer Lured to the ends of overwhelm This is my first wave of the white flag This is the sound of me hitting bottom This my surrender, if that's what I call it In the anatomy of my crash And I keep on smiling Keep on moving Can't stand still Such pretty forks in the road On this continuum I've been bouncing Life flashing promise before my eyes This is my first wave of the white flag This is the sound of me hitting bottom This my surrender, if I can bare it In the anatomy of my crash And I keep on smiling Keep on moving Can't stand still

Clark Terrell Well I might give it more than a couple.😁 But tbh I could not take all the new new that's just total CRAP 💩! Plus the snotty jockey's that talk down to their public like that?!?!😳😳😳😳 1 day chicky phones in and she talks about wearing pigtails and they called her a prostitute. And all the time oh, they have confessions about weird stuff they do but it's always not really that bad, while what everyone else confesses is, they make it like it's so out there - like they are the cool kids in school. That w Abel going on w how he's so heartless, and all of them going on about how much money they have - as if they don't all lose their minds at some point also😏. I just can't! And I won't! So I went back to the Classic Rock and then mostly Pitbull on Serius. At least that top 40 stuff is in Spanish so I can't tell if the words are crap or not.😜 Plus they play some top 40 but the rest of it is so good it's like u never heard music before😋. But yeah these new Alanis tracks are giving me life.😀
I think this is my favorite track in the album!
Alanis Morissette is a musical genius that opened so many doors for other female artists, jagged little pill success was huge and she wrote her songs from the first word to the last one. I saw her performing at Brussels once and we got one more song for free, one of my best memories ❤. Taylor Hawkins was her drummer at that time before joining foo fighters. Chris Chaney was her bassist and he was super good ✌.
Does anyone else think this would have been a great song for the Joker soundtrack ? It sums that character up so well 😍
