Hasta que Martin llegó a cierta edad ya dio chance de que alguien estuviera “componiendo” o involucrándose junto a él en el trabajo de crear y hacer música… Me refiero a Richard Butler, que es co-autor de el nuevo single (y de otros tres) y que los catapultó de regreso a la escena musical este 2023. Alan Wilder en cierta forma así trabajó con las maquetas de Gore, puliendo aquí, moviendo acá… sacando lo mejor de esa melodía y elevándola a otro nivel auditivo y de producción… Alan no lo dice abiertamente pero era claro que se sintió mal valorado, poco apreciado y por supuesto que también estaba involucrado el $… en fin, se fue de Depeche Mode dejando un legado que al día de hoy los mantiene como un gran grupo de talla mundial que a donde se presentan suelen abarrotar… Un grande Wilder.

Your level of maturity was beyond your age those days I know exactly what you mean and I know how emotionally exhausting is to still trying to working on. I can hear your sound in the songs like a deep soul adding a meaning to complete everything. But I also understand that Martín and Dave were in troubles and on top they never studied or find a real help for addictions maybe that made them all sensitivity which was a keyword for the final result musically. We all pay a prize for greatness in the end . It would be so fantastic a last song with you three pure power 😊

with the release of spirit, I've come to miss Alan all over again.

Mi comentario es que desde que no está Alan la música no se escucha igual, es como cuando llegan 15 músicos para hacer lo que solo uno hacía.

Duele aceptarlo pero después de Alan Wilder jamas fueron lo mismo. Es como que una parte de su cuerpo más trascendental se marchará.

Melvin usted tiene mucha Razon, Allan Wilder era el arquitecto de Depeche Mode, y el productor principal. Despues de la partida de Allan DM no ha tenido albums que sean commerciales, o que un fanatico escuche completamente. solo tienen dos o tres canciones buenas en un solo album. yo creo que Depeche Mode Nos està perdiendo.

Always miss him from Depeche. The man's a genius.

One of the reasons Wilder left Depeche Mode was the same reason Vince Clarke did. They were doing the lions share of the production, sound design etc...and not quite getting the proper recognition from the other members. I forget which one it was but remember hearing back in the day that the other members would be out partying and living it up while they were toiling in the studio working on material.

Sums up his line of thinking for the last 30 years. Love Alan Wilder. Love this interview.

Anécdota; cuando salió SOFAD, lo compre en el 93, me sentí "desilucionado" pues esperaba algo como violador 2.0 pues en ese tiempo ya estaba de moda el tecno....Pero bueno la 1ra semana estaba reacio a escucharlo pero al mes lo tenia en mi walkgman escuchándolo día y noche....Hasta el día de hoy lo escucho más que cualquier otro LP..... cada cancion (SOFAD) me lleva a otra dimensión en especial In Your Room...eres un grande Alan Wilder .....

Yo sé de lo que hablas, porque tengo varios discos, incluso el Speack & Spell. Pero yo digo lo mismo: los tiempos cambian. Y tratándose de un grupo con la historia que tiene, no hay que quitarles mérito alguno. Seguro que eres de los que se les mojaron los calzoncillos viendo aquella aparición sorpresa de Wilder en 2010... está claro que el chico creó escuela, pero de ahí a decir que desde 1994 hasta hoy ya no valen nada...

I truly think Alan should be in an occasional super group of various former band members. Such as Florian Schneider, Vince Clark and Peter Hook and solo artist such as Gary Numan, Jean Michel Jarre and John Cale. Think of the possibilities! They are all old pros and I think they could all contribute something and work it all out.

Depeche mode sigue...pero porque tienen exitos del pasado excelentes....pero lo nuevo digamos que esta pasable vaya, ya cosecharon buenos frutos. Lo raro es que solo los fans reconocen el buen trabajo de Alan...del grupo y productores no he visto que acepten que Alan dio su toque en el exito de las canciones de Gore.

Hoy en este año 2022 qué desgraciadamente falleció Andrew Fletcher, Ojalá no se desintegre DEPECHE MODE, y regrese Alan Wilder a la banda, estaría genial 👍👍

Alan fue como un productor dentro de la banda, cuando lo necesitaron ingresó y cumplió un buen desempeño como arreglista y músico. La música de Depeche mode no perdió mucho con su salida, ya que la esencia de una banda como Depeche son sus canciones, cuando Alan dejó la banda, buscaron a otra gente que cumpliera con el mismo fin de Alan. El se fué en un momento en el que talvez ya no podía aportar mas creatividad, debido a que en el estilo Depeche ya estaba todo o casi todo inventado, algo que no muchos observan, no quedaba ya mas nada que inventar, solo seguir ahondando en el propio estilo trabajado y pulido por una década. El dejó la banda justo cuando ya obviamente había pasado su mejor momento en cuanto a explendor y notoriedad. Aunque hubiese seguido, el momento cumbre de Depeche en cuanto a popularidad ya había pasado, y sin embargo la banda conservó vigencia y buenos discos porque conservaron lo mas necesario que es la esencia, sus canciones y sus letras. Por último, Quién tiene la bola mágica para saber qué hubiese sido Depeche si el seguía, eso no existió simplemente, y las joyas musicales de Depeche siguieron por mucho tiempo hasta éstos días.

@@manuelveractor che, lo de opinión de mierda lo ponés vos, no se por qué. Detalle aparte, puedo argumentar un poquito mí opinión. En los álbumes mas notorios de la banda, todas las canciones fueron compuestas y escritas por Martin Gore. En mi humilde pero no de mierda opinión, lo que le sucedió a DM con una caida creativa, es consecuencia lógica de haber dado el máximo ya, y eso les ha pasado a todas las bandas del mundo, incluso a aquellas que conservaron a todos sus integrantes, por eso digo que Wilder dejó la banda en el momento justo. Talvez no tenga razón, todas son especulacionrs, pero toda opinión es válida y no es mierda.

@@pulsarsonico sí bueno, es una forma tonta de hablar lo de opinión de mierda pero vamos, con esa expresión me refería a que no somos nadie y nuestra opinión no deja de ser algo subjetivo y externo a lo que pasó ahí realmente. Lo que sí tngo claro es que nunca se podrá saber a dónde podría haber ido la carrera de DM con Alan dentro... pensamos que SOFAD fue su cénit pq salió... pero cómo saber si no hubiesen hecho algo superior (complicado a mi parecer, yo también opino que SOFAD es su techo por encima de Violator -que ya era dificil superar-). Yo sigo disfrutando enorrrmemente el periodo 83-93 de DM, Ultra no estuvo mal, pero ya se hace evidentísimo la falta de Wilder. En fin... me queda seguir soñando con una reunión algún día... mientras sigan vivos... quién sabe... peores y cosas más imposibles se han visto... Un saludo desde Madrid.

Alan says at 05:15 that he wants to have a total control. He doesn’t want to produce for others. Even if he’d have stayed in DM, he would have left the band very soon.

I think there's more to why he really left DM. We'll probably never know.

What Alan fails to see is that the melting pot of gold was Marts, songs, Daves voice and presence, Alans production and imput, and flech to keep things together. I heard Alan is broke now. and he even had to auction of his collection of things as well as his house. Well 20 years of no income is gona do that. As much as I want him part of dm he left the family

He left the family!?!? He left because he did NOT get the respect he deserved from DM. How much shit was he supposed to stay around and take?!? Goes back to the early/mid 80's They were sure OK letting him do all the work, while they partied and vacationed. He was with them for thirteen years. And THAT was the best music ever put out by DM! FACT!!!!! He should have been treated as an equal! Not like a hired hand! If you check out the truth about all of this, REALLY, the honest to God truth, you will be amazed! Don't judge Alan until you do. It is heartbreaking.

Alan wasn't the one who failed to see, it was the others who failed to even hear (at least at the time) what his contributions were, and appreciate what he added to their music. To them DM was Martin's songs and Dave's voice, and that's it. Alan did a lot of legwork and played the most on stage instrumentally, but they didn't recognize or appreciate the value of his creative work in the studio. As for Alan supposedly being broke, how would you know? He must have had multiple millions by that time, which gave him the freedom to decide where to go with his career and life. He must have had more than enough money for any reasonable person to live a *very* comfortable life. How much do you think you will make in your lifetime, total? Since he left, DM haven't been making nearly as much money anyway. It's hardly chump change, but Alan was a part of their biggest successes, both artistically and commercially, and continues to receive income from everything he was involved with. Regarding the auction, maybe Alan realized that he would never even look at all of the tons of stuff cluttering up his huge house--he got tired of being a hoarder and decided to take one last fond look at most of this stuff (he kept some for himself) and sell it to others who would treasure it and put it on display or even use it. I mean, does he really need his Emax Turbo II keyboard anymore? He probably has a whole virtual studio on his laptop like many people do these days, and can play any instrument or sample he wants on a MIDI keyboard attached to it. I hadn't heard that he was selling his house, but if he did, then maybe he realized it was too big for him, especially without all the tons of stuff he had hoarded over the years filling it up. Now, switching gears, as for Fletch supposedly keeping things together, he's always had a big, tactless mouth that I bet caused a lot more conflict and strife than he ever resolved. To his credit, however, he did give the most accurate description of his role in the band in _101_ --he admitted that he bummed around. This useless band member was the one who belittled and dismissed Alan's work the most after he left, and it's not surprising because he did things like belittle Dave's performances at times. On one such occasion, Alan couldn't take it anymore and got into a fistfight with him--Alan couldn't stand seeing someone like Fletch talk about Dave like that. So much for keeping the band together--Fletch probably helped drive Alan away, and then said it didn't matter.

Oh yeah, and Alan wasn't the only member of DM to have left voluntarily. I'm not saying their reasons and circumstances were all the same, but Vince probably found the rest of DM rather hard to work with, as well. Like Alan, he had to do most of the work, especially since Martin was barely willing to write any songs at the time. Dave is a good vocalist to work with (before and after the heroin thing, anyway), but Martin and Fletch are lazy and hard to get along with, let alone work with. The main difference is that Vince thought he didn't need these jokers, and actually, he was right, starting two highly successful duos (Yazoo with Alison Moyet and Erasure with Andy Bell). But Alan had no such notion--he knew that Recoil wouldn't be a big commercial success, and never intended for it to be. The other main difference is that Vince left when DM were just starting, while Alan left after they had reached their peak, so Alan didn't need to make lots of money because he already had lots of money. The main similarity between Alan and Vince is that at some point they both decided that they would rather work with other people than the other members of DM.

@@rbrtck Well said!!!! Wilder's musical expertise took DM to dizzying heights that they would never EVER have experienced otherwise. DM has never had a post Wilder hit. THAT is how important Alan was to them.

The soul of Depeche Mode was Alan Wilder...Without Alan, Depeche Mode does not exist... "Ultra" it was the only decent album that Depeche Mode made without Alan, the rest of their albums after "Ultra" are just a freaking disgrace ....sad story..

A que precio? La verdad desde que salió Alan Wilder, se perdió esa esencia me gustó hasta Exiter... después de ahí sólo escuche la mitad de los discos y ahora no me llama la atención comprar los últimos. De hecho mi colección termina en Exiter

Yes, he did most of the studio work - along with the engineers- but Martin wrote the songs and without Dave's woice and presence they wouldnt have been soo succesfull.

Estimado Fernando, que eres cómico, acaso no te das cuenta de quien es Alan Wilder ?, no observas ni te preguntas de por que la gente lo ama, y comentan en todos los idiomas que DM no es nada si Alan? Claro, DM es ahora una banda Pop Rock, pero antes, DM era una banda ALTERNATIVA, Y SINO LA , MEJOR DEL MUNDO, LO QUE AHORA NO LO ES. Para todos los que somos músicos Wilder es un gran maestro, ademas de su amor por la música honesta, del concepto artístico, demostrado con RECOIL, es un gigante, y es triste que ofendas al sinó mayor aporte (musical) que DM ha tenido, si es que te gusta tanto la banda. Recoil was too limited and not to everyones taste, hence it doesn't sell any records... So it was always going to have a short life....
