Some great Quotes from the works of Alan Watts:
"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.
To have faith is to trust yourself to the water. When you swim you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead you relax, and float.
You don't look out there for God, something in the sky, you look in you
We cannot be more sensitive to pleasure without being more sensitive to pain.
Never pretend to a love which you do not actually feel, for love is not ours to command.
I owe my solitude to other people.
The ego is nothing other than the focus of conscious attention.
No work or love will flourish out of guilt, fear, or hollowness of heart, just as no valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity for living now.
You are that vast thing that you see far, far off with great telescopes.
Trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth
You and I are all as much continuous with the physical universe as a wave is continuous with the ocean.

I'm so glad that I latched onto Taoism about 57 years ago. About the same time, I also had a strong peyote experience, and smoked my first weed. Terence McKenna said that Taoism is the philosophy that goes best with the psychedelics or e n t h e o g e n s. I agree. And weed is definitely an entheogen. Thank you so much for posting Alan Watts.... Decriminalize God's plant medicines.

There are other ways to have a crown chakra though. A recreational puff is okay but for Dao De Jing to max out its' effectiveness you cannot be controlled by addiction of any sort. I gave up weed after 40 years of partaking in it to fully experience De Dao. I could not Wu Wei properly when stoned on weed. True story. When I feel like lighting one up now something inside says to me 'what after 40 years you cannot replicate the experience in your own mind?'. Kang Kong, Swamp Cabbage, Ony Choy or Watercress what ever you want to call it it is rather good. I like it raw helps my golf too. My gatekeeper must have been smoking my ghosties before because sometimes you just do not know who entered your building. Maybe everything in moderation. You should not have to be smashed to start to think about Dao. In saying that I am cautious not to sound like one of those do gooders Alan Watts talks about, who make the world more difficult than necessary to stay on the path that is forever upwards.

Alan Watts quote highlights from this video: “Taoism is what everybody is looking for-the easy way in, the shortcut, using cleverness instead of muscle.” “Can you find a way that sees into your own nature, that sees into the Tao, immediately?” “When you know that this moment is the Tao-and this moment is by itself without past and without future, eternal, neither coming into being nor going out of being-there is nirvana.” “We are all a constant flux, and the continuity of the person from past through present to future is illusory.” “Our seeming to go along in a course of time doesn't really happen.” “The Buddhists say suffering exists but no one who suffers, deeds exist but no doers are found, a path there is but no one who follows it, and Nirvana is but no one who attains it.” “So long as you're in the present, there aren’t any problems.” “The Taoist trick says simply live now and there will be no problems.” “There isn't any continuous ‘you’ running on from moment to moment who originated at some time in the past and will die at some time in the future.”

Being a Chinese Taoism practitioner, I was highly recommended by a client about this lecturer. I was lost for the major part of this video because his references seemed random, now India Yoga, now Buddhism, now Tao, now Zen... I gather this is maybe that the lecturer was keen to recollect/record his studies, or it could help the video attract more interest groups, or even perhaps he did have in-depth talks elsewhere and this one is a chat for his mature followers. But it is not the way Taoist learn things. For Taoism beginner studies, everything can be explained in one book which has only 81 paragraphs. We read the book so well that the words jump out at us on occasions it is the right answer to our puzzles. Advanced Taoism studies will have to tackle "book of change" to be able to foresee what is coming and what has been the past, which are all in us at any one time. I unfortunately may never be able to master the wisdom in the "book of change". I thought to leave a comment here and hope you will find it constructive and begin to focus and really delve into and properly comprehend one book only, even just one paragraph of DaoDeJing, provided your prime interest is in Dao as well.

But the point is that he is trying to disown the severity with which people approach their religious practices. He has to reference the other possible ways to approach the problem, because he is proposing what he feels to be a more efficient approach. This is very much the point of the lecture.

The funny thing about karma and dao is that sometimes when you try to do good the result is disaster and when you try to do bad (by our definition of good and bad) something wonderful comes of it. More the former than the later. It's better to let things be. For Daoist fiction look to Ursula Le Guin's Lathe of Heaven.

For me the most beautiful experience ever is the realization of being. It can vary strongly in intensitiy. I have also been to the place of "no self" and "the self". The "No-self" was completely without thought, sensory perception was extremely intense to the lack of thinking. But it didnt feel really pleasant whatsoever. Being "the self" feels extremely relaxing, thought is absent aswell, but you are still there. The whole body feels extremely comfortable and pleasent. But even this state is nothing compared to the realisation of being, which doesnt have anything to do with who you are or who you aren't.

Alan Watts is maybe the greatest Western World philosopher but have you noticed the legends from different cultures that he has learnt off. It is like a chain reaction running through time that was intended to happen. It is his perceptions of everything that made him a great. Alan was just to humble and modest to peruse accolades. Wanting no credit for it rings a bell. He is a champion non the less. JESUS/ANU bless Alan Watts.

@@2valoeant Hey relax when you do think you know better than someone you get gazumped yourself. As far as it All goes least is most. What was said has merit given that Mr Watts did not rebuild the wheel he looked at what was there and believe me he took in everyone and everything. Without putting all his eggs in one basket he did lean towards Tao. What better place to source things when on Earth than Mother Nature. It was not just that he could break down complexities and unravel the convoluted nature of things soas they could be readily ingested. That's art. Anyway and ironically 'she that talks doesn't know and she who does not talk knows'' - Lao Tzu. Dao De Jing. The day we All have to have the one opinion I will feel like I wasted the emptiness of My little mind. Bias is a form of discrimination the universe did not so why should we? Maybe it was meant that Alan Watts was great because he was relatable regardless of how tertiary the subject and he always reinforced his opinions by showing how nature already demonstrated it All in its' own way so no need to look too far it is All inside of yourself in your heart/mind. Kaboom! Have a nice day everyone.

Chapter One-1; Tao te Ching There are ways but the way of Tao is Uncharted There are names but the nature of Tao cannot be given a name, Quantum indeed is the Nameless source of creation The mother of things has a name, Singularity, which has a dual, two, qualities, 0\1 The secret waits for the insight of eyes unclouded by longing. Those who are bound by desire see only the outward container. These two are identical, yet distinct one from the other; 0\1. By their names, of all things profound, it is said their Pairing as the Singular, Primary, particle 0\1 is deepest, is the gate to the root of the World, the gateway to the manifold secrets of the Universe.

Wayne L Foley In the Prophecy of the Savior of Mankind, the Savior was to have both a Spiritual Body and a Flesh Body. The way that One becomes Spiritual is to die in the Flesh, for the Flesh Body to be placed in the grave, be laid to rest, the Spiritual Body to rise up to the Heavens, The Spirit to then return to the Earth, for the Spiritual Body and the Flesh Body to rise up, the Savior to walk the Earth having the Spiritual Body and the Flesh Body to act as One. When God breathed his breath into Man's Nostrils, it was the Immortal Spirit God that became a Living Soul. The Immortal Spirit of God alive in the Flesh Body of Mankind.

📌 I don't know who, but someone actually needs to hear this, you've got to stop saving all your money. Venture into investing some, if you really want financial stability.

@let love lead In situations like this, I always recommend to people on getting guidance at least from someone that understands price action and all that while you strive on improving yourself by watching videos and learning fundamental analysis.

These are very dangerous thoughts from Buddhism. These are the same thoughts that have led India where it is now: a poor over populated country with a not so great future for its citizens. This was a country which was once one of the greatest states in the world.

You could say the same thing for the United States and Christianity. Our homeless population is roughly over half a million and incarceration is 2.3 million.

That's not why India is the way it is. It's the same as everywhere else. People are greedy. And also the wheel of fortune turns without tiring. Places and people go through a cycle of abundance and poverty. It always happens. One can't always be prosperous or always be in lack.

You must love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. You must love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus the anointed is Lord! Repent and be baptized and believe the Gospel.

Please do read some Christian mystic writings. St Thomas Aquinas, St Francis of Assisi, Thomas Merton the list goes on and on........all of whom end up saying almost exactly the same thing as many Hindu and Buddhist scholars and teachers. This "you must or else" is a misnomer given by people who want to own and control and have people obey them. I don't wanna come off as all "Holier than thou" or "my way is right and yours must be wrong" bud but for your own sake please do have a look in and try distinguish between what people have told you to think and what's preached from a pulpit and what you can truly discover for yourself when you entertain other views 🤷🏻‍♂️ God Bless.

Or don't Just because it's your belief doesn't mean it's anybody else's or that yours is the proper one while the rest is not. If you're a good person, you will figure it out. Get to where you need to. There is no right or wrong religion, if there was one.. then what, the rest of everybody goes to he'll for being raised with different beliefs no matter how good a person they are?? What of those that believe in reincarnation? I must do nothing but be me and keep following my path. Thanks anyways, earl. Sure you mean well.
