Its because Mood Melodies use Cubase and that's why the project is on Cubase...The thing which turned me off was...even if you are using a different DAW...you should be good with the Vsts that you use and he couldn't even explain how the basic offbeat pluck was made and I don't even know whether he knows to Sylenth1....Alan was one of the people who inspired me to start making music and to witness something like this....FeelsBadMan D:

Zebsis Again...So many jealous people who can't handle other people's success. 🙄Alan is from Bergen, a city in Norway with a broad dialect. He stumbles on words when talking english. English isn't his first language. He is nervous in these kind of settings. He is 19 FFS. He started making music in his bedroom 3 or 4 years ago, starting from scratch. If he needs some help from an experienced engineer, who probably has a degree or studied the field, so what. That doesn't mean Alan isn't the one making the songs. Gosh!

This is simple. Alan Walker made Fade. That got huge hit on NCS. Major label signed him. They polished it and made Faded. That's how every Alan Walker songs are made since then. I mean if you compare Alan Walker songs before Faded you can hear massive difference in production quality. Alan Walker created noticeable style in genre where is producers more than fish in the sea. That's why he got big. He has ability to create great songs, but he isn't industry standard producer yet.

Sounds to me like Alan was just a kid who loved making music and was quite good at making melodies, when fade took off, he got signed to some record company, and he had to make more commercial tracks, with all new software he had never used before. He even said in a Q and A that he uses fruity loops. And probably still isn't comfortable making such complex tracks by himself

There's something weird going on here. I would've rather have a video of him speaking in Norwegian and then judge him based from there. As you can tell his "co-producer's" English is way better than his. Part of his nervousness and awkwardness could be due to him feeling a little out of his comfort zone speaking in his second language. Not saying he doesn't have a ghost producer and that he's denying it, just want to see it from a different angle, compare the two and deduce something from there.

  • @Fre3flyOfficial
    @Fre3flyOfficial7 жыл бұрын

Well...if he really wanted to lie and make people think that he made the track himself, he could've just appear alone in the video. He wasn't obligated to show the co-producer in the video, but he still did that. Plus...I have a friend who has a label and many years ago he was receiving messages from Alan himself, asking for feedback on initial versions of "Faded". So he made it big with his own productions, and only then he asked for help from a co-producer...which makes sense since he was touring a lot.

I mean he kinda came out clean (?) as someone who just buys his beats from another guy. People who understand what he did are the producers and they will give af since it's - at least for me - a huge violation towards the people who are actually trying their best to market themself through the music platform and try to make it as legit as possible on the way to the fame. People who doesn't understand are, luckily for Alan, the majority of his fans and they will likely not even know about this since it's not "official news" only rumors and if they do somehow hear that he has a ghostproducer I think only a few amount actually will bat an eye. Any thoughts from the rest of you?

For me personally knowing that he didn't produce the tracks makes me think less of them. Most people could be internationally acclaimed DJs with a good ghost writer or team of ghost writers, so I'd argue that his career is kind of a giant sham. It's like discovering that your favourite athlete is injecting themselves with steroids, it completely changes your perception of that person and their music. Right now I'm thinking why would I want to see Alan Walker perform when all of the work has come from someone else, I'd rather just see his ghost writer DJ his own work or another DJ/producer perform whose work is their own.

I definately agree that there's nothing wrong with a ghost producer as long as the DJ is very honest about it. In the hardcore music scene an "artist" called miss k8(she's just a dj) denied having a ghost producer but anyone who has listened to anything by angerfist knows that he's her ghost producer because she just happens to have the same style as him and just happens to get defensive if anyone asked questions about ghost producers. There's never anything wrong so long as you don't try to claim it as your song and if you always use ghost producers then call yourself a DJ and not an artist/producer because there's nothing wrong with simply being a DJ as it captures the main things that most artists want which is performing in large venues and watching everyone enjoy the music whereas ghost producers often choose to stick with only production for various reasons(most of the time they don't care about fame but enjoy making music for a living), if someone is a ghost producer then they chose to do that and if someone doesn't enjoy making the tunes but enjoys performing and creating a brand for themselves then they can just be a DJ and there's nothing wrong with either so long as you're clear about it. Neither side has much time as is so doing both will just hinder any progress as going around from venue to venue could delay songs whereas being able to just work on songs all day you can churn out great quality music at a much faster rate. It's all preference.

But he had to learn how to work on a studio (obvious). So he was guided by that guy. By that time maybe he was still learning about studio music production. (He states it in Unmasked Vlog 3). Go watch Unmasked Vlog 3 he tells everything on how he got signed to NCS and how much change happened after that. Anyway I still believe Alan Walker is on of the best. It is obviously true.

I don’t even have to watch the video to tell you that you don’t know what you are talking about. Alan is an amazing music producer and DJ. He uses FL Studio, and his co-producer, Anders Froen, uses Cubase. Like many people are saying, his English at the time may have been limited. He’s from England and moved to Norway when he was 2 years-old. Yes, his dad is English, but his mom is Norwegian. He had to speak Norwegian for most of his childhood, and even now (when he’s in Norway). Every single artist who is with a label has co-producers. Nothing new. Music takes a lot of work, and it is always okay to get help with it. If the haters want to say this stuff, oh well. I don’t even know why the haters would even pay attention to him, anyway. Nothing will change my mind about how great he is. Also, to those who say he can’t even DJ, listen to this. Alan didn’t start as a DJ; he started as a music producer. When he got more popular, festivals, venues, and clubs wanted him to perform. He needed more time to learn, and he did. And now, to those who say all his songs sound the same: it’s called a style. The Alan Walker style. Let him evolve it, or let him keep it the same. Who cares? Don’t try to ruin his career. True fans will stay with him. Guys, don’t believe the ghost-producer lies.

And yes this is the answer to those saying his music sounds the same. It's his style. The Alan Walker style indeed. Everybody have their own unique style and that's what makes them different. I literally challenge all the people who say that his music sounds the same to bring me someone who makes music like him. He's the only one with such amazing relatable lyrics and great music with that vibe. The vibe you cannot get from any other music producers.

The thing is, Alan knows his stuff... But he learned music production in a very unconventional way, so he doesn't normally use the 'technical' terms for things... Plus, he was VERY SHY, and wasn't that comfortable talking in English. How ever well a person knows his stuff, he will stammer if he has to explain in a language he's not used to... His co-producer knows how to speak English fluently and so he accompanied Alan for this walk through... If you look at Alan now (2019), he is a lot more comfortable talking to the public independently, and he doesn't stammer as much anymore... I feel Alan should have waited a bit more until he was ready to face the cameras...

What? Because he can talk fluently english doesn't mean that Alan can. You can clearly hear it in his voice that he can't talk english. He should have done the interview in Norwegian with english subtitles, in that way you would understand that he knows what he is doing. Btw, I am not arguing against that he doesn't get help on his tracks, because he clearly do. Just compare Fade and Faded in production quality. I think that he makes the base of the songs himself, and gets help at the end part. It was a hobby for him, he was never a "pro" producer to begin with, so, ofc. he needed some help at the beginning to grow. One thing I am against tho, is that he started touring. He clearly can't DJ, and should have never started with it.

I love layering guitars like that and then working with a guitarist that can nail the idea better or working with what I've sampled and going into a new sonic world trying to blend the organic. now with sample based instruments I'm trying my best to layer in guitars and the sounds blend so much and so much gets resampled I wish Ableton had a notepad feature within it like when you program you make comments. Does Ableton have such a feature? That'd be great if it did then automatically generally a log with the Instrument # and fx name. I'm stoked Alan Walker made the video for sure.

He had to play a set of 45 min and arrived 10-15 min. late but I don't blame him much for this, maybe some traffic problems.. But what made me sad it was to see that during the set he wasn't mixing himself but just acting.. Proof? There was a friend dressed like him on the left, in the background of the stage, who was mixing for him (during a transition he lifted his hands up and the other guy was clearly making the transition haha..). And also the set was too promotional, it was only "his" tracks one by one, no fx, no originality. But I thought maybe it was because he's only a producer but since I saw this video (great job btw) I don't even know what he's doing in the music industry ? haha (Sorry for mistakes, I'm belgian)

I watch the original video, and it sounds more like they did the project some month ago, and it's a big project, with lot of resampling and recording stuff, so easy to forget what you made. I have smaller project I did few month ago, if I had to make a walkthrought like this I wouldn't be able to explain everything as I don't remember all the things I did on it. Also they are 2 on the project, he didn't hide this, and talk about Alan Walker as a project, not like it's him only, he say "we" not "I" whitch is really honest from him as he don't try to hide that is the only one behind that name and talk about it like it's a brand (there are big name in this industry that present themselves as the only person involve in the project even if they're not, some of them you probably watch as your "heroes" or reference...). And because they are 2, they both do stuff on their own and the other doesn't necessary know what his partner made (they're not always together in the studio), also Alan seems to work on FL but the final project was mix in Cubase, so that could be also why he's not confortable with it. So if you add all this thing, and maybe also the fact that he's not necessary confortable to talk in this kind of situation (we're not all confortable to talk in front of a camera), I don't really see this as a fail.

you don't have to clear a kick or a sample from a sample pack. There is a misunderstanding with the word "producer" in electronic music.

+Hazelcut Alan Walker didn't know any technical terms for what was in the projects and that is a major red flag because even noobs could describe things better than how he did. He couldn't even recall what a sawtooth wave is even though he was looking at an image of it and had to click on the oscillator to find out, that was one of the more embarrassing things I've ever seen. They could have at least practiced discussing the projects beforehand or even recorded multiple takes if he was nervous and said things wrong but neither was done, so I have zero sympathy for the hate he is receiving. If he wants to be seen as a talented professional he needs to act like it.

Hazelcut plus for all we know, he may not be good in English so that may make it seem like he's at a loss of explanation (I don't know his backstory on language, location etc)

To clear things out after months of thinking. Alan does makes his tracks, he does have talent compared to trash DJ's who actually need ghost producers. He has been working for himself, since the start of his career up to his releases on NCS. He then changed labels to Sony where he got a team which helped him makes his tracks to a professional levels, which then could be sold successfully across the globe. His first walk-through too, something he does not normally make his music in. I think we gotta take a step back and look at his talent before his professional releases. He does know how to produce very well, but with a co-producer, he can make pop songs with vocals, and mix and master professionally and have less stress on the tours he does as well. ;)

Agreed, Alan does have the creativity to make those unique melodies and stuff. He does know how to produce, but he might just didn't know the terms that well since he speaks a totally different language.

@@platypusmusic8843 what you say makes sense, I know almost nothing about DAW programs and I made beats without having to learn plenty of things about the program like Logic Pro X. My beats sound great I only need to master it. But still they sounded fairly different from each other, I think I'm a composer by now.

Guys, calm your shit. Alan walker said in a behind the scenes video that he doesnt work alone, and some guy gives him some melodies to work with and he will put the song together, I mean guys, jealousy is no way to make yourself better at making music....
