No one could have pulled this off as perfectly as Alan Jackson has. What a tribute to George Jones. Jackson is the best - they don't make country singers like him any longer. I've seen his twice at our state fair, and he's the greatest performer ever. Love this guy.

@@steveashworth6707 I was lucky enough to see George Jones in person too, many years ago. For the first time in a public setting he sang the song "Choices" to this audience. We were silently both stunned and awed by this beautiful song, that pretty much told the story of George's "drinking" life. I'm so glad his last wife turned his life around, so we could have this talented singer many years longer.

I couldn't imagine the immense heart ache you must feel. When i was a young i would visit my elderly neighbours almost daily. When Alan (I know, big coincidence) passed away, his wife, Alice would play this song very often and when i heard it, i would go over to keep her company. I would always switch the song for a more happy Alan Jackson song like It's "5 OClock Somewhere" or "Little Bitty" to cheer her up a bit. She passed away about a year later from what i can only imagine to be a broken heart. Still miss them both very much though it's been over 15 years since they both passed.

A simple song to sing, the catch is you have give from your heart and soul, the emotion. It, at times is hard to dig inside yourself, but Alan Jackson did it.
I was a child at the Missouri State Fair wondering around with my sister (just 2 years older), when we heard this wonderful voice from the Budweiser tent. A skinny blonde kid that my sister thought was a good looking guy. Turned out to be Alan Jackson, before he was famous. We sat outside that area listening until he stopped playing songs. Wasn't until "Chatahoochie" that we mad the connection. What a man, what an example, what a career.

Not many men could have pulled this off. His eyes were full off tears the whole time, but his voice never shook, and he never let a single drop fall. It reminds me of when men where men and they did their crying in private, and they did it infrequently.
This man, the singer, Alan Jackson, is just as iconic as the man he honors with this song, originally written by Jones. George Jones was arguably, THE voice of Country music, for decades. The song, of course, is written about George's wife Tammy Wynette, who was also a Country music superstar until her death on April 6th 1998. May they both rest in peace.

Hello
He's the most tender man singing 🎶 this song just like George did when he sang it. Just a lot of emotion in those beautiful blue eyes of his. If you look closely you can see rears in his eyes too. What a great man with love in his heart ♥.

I meant tears in his eyes.
Alan Jackson really did love that man as it shows as he sings God bless you Alan Jackson
I can't imagine how hard it was for you to sing this song on this day but what a great job you did and I'll bet old George was smiling wherever he was. You were a great friend to him. Thanks for the very moving tribute!

Putting myself into Allan's boots , I know I couldn't hold myself together to get through this song . I have lost my best life time friend lately and I couldn't get up to the mike to honour my friend let alone sing his favourite song . I know exactly how Allan felt as he honoured his dear friend . Total respect, from an 80 year old country fan .

Could have been a more appropriate song picked.
Always listened to countrymusic.. The first gruop i remember is Alabama and their song "Roll on eighteen wheeler" ❤
