I was taught that there was power in the blood but fell in to a life of Alcoholism and drugs , I stopped and soon realized that without Jesus I was still lost, full of self centered and self pity but now I am saved by The Grace of God , And I love to tell his story What A miracle.

Amen brother. I too fell into addiction. A higher power is key to finding peace.3.5 years clean for me. I still struggle daily but one day at a time I'll get er done.

I lost my daughter, Brianna Nicholle, 25, this year when she took a hydrocodone pill laced with fentanyl. She had no idea it was laced. I play this song over and over. I share it with others all the time. When we sit on the back porch, I bring my speaker out and it’s the first song I play. Great music you turn up. All my neighbors have heard this song so many times. God is good. He has given me Blessed Assurance many times bc I never asked for a sign. I only asked for “Blessed Assurance.” I’ve never heard a more beautiful and meaningful song, and you sing it so perfectly. Thank you from a very grieved mother with a broken heart until I see her again.

I was brought up in a somewhat fundamental church environment. The old gospel songs are familiar to me and make me feel good even though I’m very disappointed in the American church experience of today with all this fake evangelical stuff. This song and Iris Dement’s Leaning on the Everlasting Arms are two songs I play over and over even though I like rock and rock n roll.

This was my Grandma’s favorite hymn…it brings such loving feelings of her every time I hear it.

This song reminds me of an adoption, where the dad rescues the child from a bad situation, and the child knows nothing about life, except bad things, but the Dad shows by example how to love and live right, and he’s patient with his adopted child. And eventually, the child learns the ways of the Father, who has taught them through his great mercy, and at times necessary discipline, but the child knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dad cares, that Dad won’t leave. God is that Dad. Blessed Assurance.

Absolutely beautiful - like am seeing Jesus

Having been raised Roman Catholic, which teaches that you can lose your salvation, and shown the truth of the Bible, was when the full meaning of being a child of God, purchased by the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, filled my heart with the overwhelming love of God that I had never really known before. Just as a human parent would always have a child regardless of how wayward they might be, so much more perfect is the love of God for His children. My Catholic relatives would chime in, "license to sin", but they know nothing about what it means to be born again. Rather than being attracted to sin, I am sickened and nauseated by it. The idea of offending my Lord and Savior wounds my heart. Do I still sin occasionally? Yes, I am ashamed that sometimes I falter, but the enjoyment is GONE. I am no better than unsaved people on my own merits, but forgiven by the grace (unmerited favor) of God.

It is very possible to lose out on the race. The devil is an active enemy to lure us out of the way. If we never leave the way to heaven once saved, the Bible is contradicted. You have to ‘stand firm’, ‘overcome’ Jesus said to the one who overcomes I will give the right to eat from the tree of life. Everything from the narrow way to Paul’s letters point to us having to ’keep the faith’.

Yes, He has prodigals. He has a way of dealing with us. It is supremely loving but usually very painful. But His love is eternal and everlasting, not for our sake, but His own.♥️✝️
