@@stevehendon4076 The Holy Roman Empire was made up from 4 Kingdoms: The Kingdom of Burgundy, The Kingdom of Lombardia, The Kingdom of Bohemia and The Kingdom of Germany. Typically the King of Germany would be made Emperor of the HRE. And stating that Prussians were not Germans is a bit bold.
The thing about the UK being the centre of the earth is in reference to the international meridian conference from 1884 where Greenwich in London, England was agreed upon by 41 delegates from 26 countries (except the ones from France) to be the central point of the the world for the 0 line of longitude used on maps and charts.

Say that to Napoleon Bonaparte? That is exactly what we did. :D
The world's modern timeline system was invented in Britain which is why the line of longitude at 0 runs through Britain. It is in fact in Greenwich, London, and is known as the Greenwich meridian at the Greenwich observatory. All world clocks are set by this time and the time was kept by a clock built a couple of hundred years ago that was still in use until the last century when it was superseded by a more modern and accurate one.
He’s referring to the naught line of longitude which runs through Great Britain making it the centre of the earth, he goes on to say “ all right we put the line there but it still stands”
Believe it or not he is actually pretty well versed historically and obviously this stand up is a character he's playing drawing from his knowledge.

In terms of the Peru and bear thing, we had a children's programme called Paddington bear, he came from darkest Peru. Paddington was found at Paddington station in London and named after the station. He lived with a family in Windsor gardens in London. Recently there have been two films and an audience with Her Late Majesty at the platinum jubilee celebrations. The line of longitude was set by an international congress including a young United States. It was decided that the line passes through Greenwich, funnily enough where I was born, the 0 line is also referred to as the Greenwich meridian, and all time is marked from the meridian. GMT or Greenwich mean time is the standard which all the clocks are set to.

North line longitude is a fact Britain is the centre of the Earth. Greenwich means time. Is in control on what time it is all over the Earth. Also the international date line of course was put there by the British. Al Murray is a historian and scientific facts and dates of Wars and battles are always accurate and true.

Time is kept by a series of atomic clocks that measure the vibrations of Caesium-133 atoms, positioned all over the world. GMT comes from the colonisation era, when navigating the oceans became crucial and you need a clock which is reliable at sea.. This was invented in Britain, hence the location of GMT. Greenwich has an observatory, which did the calculations.

The Peru bit was talking about the Paddington Bear movie. And the line of Longitude does run through UK he’s not joking about that. Al Murray has a history degree from Oxford university so he’s a pretty knowledgeable person.
The bear referred to is Paddington Bear with his marmalade sandwich, suitcase and hat. The Zero meridian runs through Greenwich, England & all other time zones are based on how far East of it they are.
Whenever I watch these reaction videos on Al, I get the impression that Americans don't realise that this is a persona of a stereotypical pub landlord from England, its an act Al isn't like this in real life

It never ceases to amaze me how people don't seem to have picked up on the fact that the man behind the stage persona, 'Al Murray', is mocking the absurdity of his stage persona's opinions, not the targets at which that persona aims. The real Al Murray has no more in common with his act than he does a gatepost.
FYI, in regards to al Murray reference to britain at centre of world is in regards that we set the Greenwich mean time (GMT) for the rest of the world to follow.
Greetings from Serbia 🇷🇸! We are the ones who were bombed (former Yugoslavia, for the rest of the world had more ease) fun fact we found Chicago the most Serbian city after Vienna in Austria 😂

The bit with the bear is a kids program about a bear from puru called Paddington bear lol 😂
The meridian line and time is absolutely correct
The longitudinal line zero (the prime meridian) does run through England. It was put there by us long ago. Spain, Portugal and Italy all wanted it there, but we won. All timezones are from GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) although these days some refer to it as UTC (Universal Time Coordinated) since January 1960...
@daveofyorkshire301

It is true. The British created pretty much everything.
Bulgaria etc are the wimble countries is reference to an old kids TV show called the wombles. Peru is reference to Paddington Bear. I could see from your reactions a few things went over your heads. Christmas islands is a reference to the wizard song I wish it could be Xmas every day which is played on radios in the run up to Xmas every year. I enjoyed your post.
The Joke about the Bear, references "Paddington Bear" to all those that don't know who paddington bear is, The friendly spectacled bear from "darkest Peru" - with his old hat, battered suitcase, duffel coat and love of marmalade - has become a classic character from British children's literature. An anthropomorphised bear, Paddington is always polite - addressing people as "Mr", "Mrs" and "Miss" but rarely by first names - and kindhearted, though he inflicts hard stares on those who incur his disapproval. He has an endless capacity for innocently getting into trouble, but he is known to "try so hard to get things right". He was discovered in London Paddington station
The 0 degree longitude runs through Greenwich, london. It's also the 0 mark for the timezones; hence gmt or Greenwich Mean Time, and everyone else adjusts up or down from that, US is behind, between -5 and -9 hours whilst the other side, Germany is +1, Russia is +2 to +10
1:09 GMT means the 0 point runs through London borough of Greenwich. This means the UK is 0 and every longitude has a + to the east of that line and every longitude east has a - hours. So the UK is placed on world maps as the center 0. If your in France its +1 hour difference in local time from the 0 location. Finland is +2 head. Dallas is - 6 behind. Google: World Time Zones Map. You'll see the point.
