I met Al in Maui. He was getting ready to play tennis. I was registering for golf. I saw him and said “Al Michaels!!! How the hell are ya?” Like I knew him for years. Listening to him for so many years I thought I did. He was as nice as could be even after my verbose salutation. We spoke for about 5 minutes. What a great guy. GOAT.

I met and spoke with Bob Uecker when I was sixteen working at a sports bar in Milwaukee. It was nice that he took time and talked to a bunch of kids. Pretty cool.

I remember when Al Michaels joined the Giants broadcasting crew in 1974 -- he was just so good. I wish he were still announcing baseball.

At football games every time Howard Cossell spotted a team mascot he would say "Hey, there is Bob Uecker !!!" Then in one game, after Cossell did it the mascot removed his head and there was Bob Uecker in disguise. Unbeknown to Cossell they had meticulously prepared the prank to get him and for the first time in years Cossell was speechless !!! 🤣😂😆 Uecker tells that anecdote in his book Catcher On The Wry.

This is what is missing from todays sportscasters. Personality and a sense of humor. The majority of the guys today are boring, and aren't good at telling a story or a joke.

These are funny but they’re such G rated stories. Norm Macdonald’s Uecker stories seem funnier to me because he keeps in the filthy parts
