Discovered Al Green when I was 12 years old by accidentally going into a black owned record store. Things were pretty segregated back then where I'm from. The older black man at the register asked if he could help me. I don't think I had ever spoken to a black person before and had never listened to any black performers. I asked him what would he recommend. He walked over and picked up this album. I was instantly hooked. I had never heard anything like it. That voice, the beat, the horns-just so crazy good. That man got ALL my babysitting money for years. He introduced me to all of the best artists of the time. I think he really got a kick out of this little white girl showing up in his store every week asking who I should listen to next. Al Green, I'm "Still in Love With You".

6th grade I was living with my grandmother, I could listen to the radio but no tv. There was a station called WAWA in Milwaukee that played Motown soul. Oh, man, I was smitten! ❤

The best times of my life was when we was on our way to Mississippi or St. Louis, my Uncle and his wild cat. He would always play Al bring song. That's what I really felt safe. I love Al Gray every time I hear song today. It just brings back good memory. Thank you, I'll agree.

This is My “horror or happiness” story, about this infamous AL GREEN song 🎵 - depending on how you look 👀 at it? Every, single Sunday morning, at 7am 🕖 sharp - me & my 4 siblings, I was like 5 at the time (we’re each 2 years apart) awakened by this Blaring track, played by our Dad! Played at some super high decibel at that too! It was his way of saying 2 things: 1. To us kids - Get your asses up! Breakfast 🍳 is ready & on the table!While, 2. To our Mum, who helped him prepare breakfast, much love & happiness for her & his family! 🤦‍♂️. So, Sunday horror? Or Sunday happiness? Regardless, Sundays was all about Al Green, waking us up! Oh, that lasted, for me - a decade! But, By 15 years old, I began, conveniently sleeping at my BFF’s house on Saturday nights! 😊 Only Mum, figured it out as the wiser! 😂😇
