That's some loosey goosey right there. Love the tuning of those drums.

more like '60s. in the 50s Max tuned the high tom above the snare.
Great sounding kit!
Wish my left hand cooperated as much as Al Foster's does. The man is an American treasure.
I have the exact same set! (Taye Pro X)
Had no idea Mr Foster was still with us! What a joy.
Yamaha maple custom made in Japan, anniversary, I have the same set is so good

I was about to say, I still have a couple toms from a green maple custom set myself, though the bass drum was stolen 😢 it is indeed a great set

I'm not saying Yamaha aren't good but like the Pepsi challenge I'd challenge you, other drummers and most importantly the general public to a blind test of what sounds best!!! I bet most quality drums sound pretty much the same heads, tuning, muffling all being equal!!!

Great opportunity to see this great drummer (my favorite of the jazz players growing up) and witness his creative process - this is a brilliant little snapshot into how he puts ideas together and comes up with astonishing patterns between snare & toms by exploring and fiddling around with a few basic rudiments and sticking patterns - thanks for this!! -Greg Burrows

I can get good price from Yamaha in the late 90s-2000s back then and my drummer tag along a shootout for a new kit. As a listener I liked the maple custom a lot but the drummer insist on a birch custom as it plays more dynamic on his side, you can't argue with what he's playing. A few years later when the club custom came out, I bought a set for myself.
Remo black dot heads on the bottom of those drums(like Tony Williams in the 1980s). I think they add to the tone/resonance of the toms?
Bello/Magnifico.😱😱😱😱😱😭🧨🎉
Amazing touch , super high tuning tho 😮
Yes Sirrrr....
Al is a REAL PLAYER!!! TRUE & not susceptible to 'Flavor of the Month ' nonsense.
What makes this great is the the pure joy on his face when he get into the groove. 🤘😎
in the pocket with awesome sounding kit - esp the snare!
This has got to be fake
