Yup. Dillon realizes he screwed up and his lies have placed Dutch and the men under him in danger. He goes out like a boss though, going down shooting.

When I was a kid who watched the Rocky films back in the 1990s, it broke my heart when his character, Apollo, died. It was the first time in my life when I learned about death from a film. Now, 30 years later… May Carl Weathers rest well. He’ll live in our memories and heart…

@@gijoe41688 Yes that is a must. Had to put that in of course as that was a great character he did that belongs with the others.
I literally said "Oh no!" out loud when I heard Carl Weathers had passed. He had starred in many of my favourite movies. Much like the immortal Apollo Creed himself, this one hit hard.
RIP, Carl Weathers, Apollo Creed, Action Jackson, Al Dillon, Greef Karga, 1948-2024.
I had the chance to meet Carl Weathers about three times over the years via conventions. I think with most actors, there's always going to be certain roles they'll always be known for, with Weathers it was certainly going to be Apollo Creed, with Dillion a close second. I remember that his table would always have plenty of Rocky and Predator photos to choose from with the odd photo from another one of his projects here and there. And of course people would bring their own items for him to sign, mostly Rocky and Predator stuff, myself included. However, on the final time I got to meet Carl, I took my DVD copy of 'Tour of Duty' the complete third season for him to sign. Carl had a recurring role of Colonel Brewster in that season and the show was important to me as it was something me and my older brother bonded over during the early 90s when it would air at midnight over here in the UK. My brother would wake me up so we could watch it together. When I presented the cover for Carl to sign I asked him if he regularly signed items from Tour of Duty and he said he didn't, in fact I think I recall him saying it was the first time he had signed the DVD of the show. He was actually really talkative about the show, how much he enjoyed it and he told me a couple of stories regarding the production. Thinking of that moment, I think it made me realize that while it's easy for us as fans to remember actors for their most memorable roles, like Bill Paxton as Hudson, I think actors will always appreciate it when some of their less well known works are discussed with them, especially the ones they enjoyed. And honestly? Carl was great in everything I've seen him in.
Not many actors can effectively portray a character who starts out bad but develops a conscience over the course of a film and by the end redeems himself. Carl Weathers in Predator made it look easy.

I'll always remember Carl Weathers in Predator; that was the first movie I saw with him in it and the iconic handshake he does with Arnie lives rent free in my mind =) RIP Carl Weathers; as Mac said to Blain....good bye bro

One of the best characters.
Quite possibly the most manly of manly handshake greetings in the history of action movies. RIP Carl Weathers.
I was just at a convention this past weekend when I got the news and the lady and her kids that I was standing in line next to pulled up some photos of when they got to go meet him at another con last year.
Carl Weathers was a large part of my childhood. Born in 85, I grew up watching many films. Rocky of course, Predator, Action Jackson, Little Nicky, Happy Gilmore..Then as I got older and found a show that tapped into my childhood a bit. It was the Mandalorian, and seeing Carl Weathers in that show made me smile something awful. RIP Carl

RIP Carl Weathers
Nice homage, well played good sir👏👏👏 He is one of the most believable actors I’ve ever seen on screen👊
Somehow, Carl Weathers' character was essential to that movie. Always, always loved him - even more, somehow, for his role in Predator than even his role as Apollo Creed in Rocky. 😢
exactly the intro i expected regarding carl weathers
Sad we never had the opportunity to have Carl Weathers or Al Matthews play Sgt. Johnson in a proper, true to the source material full lenght film. Both would nail it. Rest in peace my man.
Man, Carl Weathers is in so many movies I love. A favorite character? Don’t know that I could choose one. Obviously Apollo Creed was amazing. As was Al Dillon. Let us not forget Sgt. Jericho "Action" Jackson. Such a loss.
Don't think words can possibly express how damn legendary & iconic Carl Weathers is. From Rocky, to Predator, to Billy Madison, to The Mandalorian.. this man was a multi-generational talent who inspired countless people with his genuine down to earth personality & his big heart. Won't be the same without him. Thank you for everything Mr Weathers, godspeed🕊🙏
This was so heartbreaking to hear about his passing. I have loved him since Rocky. Great actor. RIP Carl 🥊🥊🥊💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾🕊🕊🕊

I’ve never really gotten into novelizations, but after watching this I think I need to read this one. It is so true the books can often times be better than the movie, or at least enhance them to a great deal.
My favorite character! So heartbroken when he wasn't in more lore.
RIP Carl Weathers. Be peace.
RIP Carl Weathers. You are missed, admired and loved by so many.
REST IN POWER
What a great way to honor Carl Weathers.
The trade paperback copy of the Predator came through my work a few weeks ago! That's pretty cool to hear someone talking about it besides me and my co workers.
Thank you for this! Carl Weathers was part of an era that will never return to the big screen.
Love this, RIP Carl Weathers 😞 Another legend lost but never forgotten.
Watching him in the various roles over the decades, he simply kept getting better! Rest Easy Carl Weathers!
Respect for making this! RIP Carl Weathers
Rest In Peace Apollo Creed. Fantastic actor. He is a huge part of my youth in the 70s and 80s.
He got to that big ol' choppa in the sky.
Carl Weathers was the Linchpin that made 80s action films what they were. I shudder to think where would Stallone and Arnold would have been without him to elevate their eariler roles. man was a great actor, and will be missed.
Man this is a truly fantastic and respectful tribute, amazing job. Dillon is by far my favorite Carl Weathers role. Great to hear all these extra details in the novel.
Rewatching Predator this friday night!!! Also... what are your thoughts in the upcoming comic 'Aliens: What If…?' with Burke returning?
Carl Weathers was a power house and was never anything less than superb on screen. Nuance within strength was his hallmark, and it was a privilege to have grown up with his movies. I was hoping someone would do this. I'm really glad it was you. The novel shows Dillon as a much more sympathetic character than the movie. He calls Dutch and the team expendable, right to Dutch's face. He does not include himself in that assessment because pride, bureaucratic ego, and maybe a small kernel of guilt lead him to do so. His redemption is hollow, frankly. And his is the lost character, diminished by leaving the brotherhood for the cushy desk job. He was a very good foil, the agency monster within the unit and it looked as though Dutch and his boys were going to have to survive two horrors: those perpetrated by man on man, and those of a now larger universe, still unknown.
Well done tribute. Predator will always rank amongst my favorites, and Mr Weathers helped make it such.
Beautiful way to remember him.... RIP Carl Weathers
RIP Carl you’ll always be one of my Legends 💪🏻
What a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. Godspeed, Carl Weathers. Hold the chopper for us.
Beautiful breakdown and reference of the novelization. Mr. Weathers was a huge part of my childhood as my dad and I would watch the Rocky films and Predator in the theater when they came out. To me, watching Carl was like watching my Dad on the big screen. Same masculine, confident, wise and athletic charisma. I will always associate Carl with memories of my Dad before he passed away. Lovely tribute brother.
RIP Carl. Dillon will always be my favorite character of Weathers. Great video as always Theory.
Hard to choose between Rocky III and Predator for me. He's terrific in both.
Thank you so much for this! Carl Weathers is an unforgettable part of my childhood and all those visits to the video rental store. R.I.P Dillon
My favorite movie of all time. Nice to hear someone give it such praise and do it so much justice. Carl was fantastic in it. Felt like he was just always around growing up (watching movies). RIP.
Thank you so much for this! Very thoughtful
RIP Carl Weathers you brought so many great characters to life and lived yours to the fullest.
What a great video. Not only informative in contextualizing a lot of what I've seen on screen so many times in a new way, but also a great tribute to an amazing actor gone too soon.
Rest in power Dillon✊✊🔥🔥🕊️🕊️🕊️
Easily one of my favourite 1980s action film stars. He was a good actor too, with tons of iconic performances in classic films like - Rocky, Predator, Action Jackson, and he was great in The Mandalorian series. R.I.P. Carl Weathers.💪
Thank you for honoring the Actor, and of course the character he played in the film. Once again a very impressive narration AT!
People like him live forever. Great video!
That was an amazing tribute! to Carl Weathers. Great job Alien Theory. Rip Carl Weathers you will be missed.
Get some.
@2:25 I beg to differ. Dillon says, to Dutch's face, "You're an asset. An expendable asset." Dutch simply rebuffs him lol
Thank you, for making this video. I had never realized that there was so much behind Dillon's backstory.
I got lucky enough to meet him in winnipeg at comic-con just a short few weeks before he passed. Got one of the Dillon pictures signed by him and will treasure it forever. Absolute gem of a man RIP
Never knew how much I missed this Dutch!
thanks for the video. RIP Carl Weathers
RIP Carl Weathers. Watching Rocky IV now feels deferent especially with the Ivan Draco’s line of “If He Dies He Dies” for obvious reasons.
He always seemed to love his job. You can just tell when an actor is having a great time in a role, and he always had that energy and commitment to the part. I think it's a big reason why he could go effortlessly between action and comedy and sci-fi and drama and anything else. He loved his craft, and it shows in every frame on the screen. It's something the audience can always sense. He never phoned it in or gave less than 100% to us or his colleagues. Thank you for decades of amazing characters, Mr. Weathers.
I'm old enough to have seen Rocky IV and Predator in theaters, Predator on my 16th birthday. It;'s hard to imagine either the Rocky series or Predator without him. I think one of the things that's been lost in modern movies is casting and you very rarely nowadays see a cast like Predator's, where every actor perfectly fits their role and makes the character memorable and iconic. Carl Weathers makes such a huge contribution to the movie, he's a legend and may he rest in peace.
A great tribute to one of the greatest actors ever. RIP Dillon RIP Carl Weathers
Predator was my introduction to Carl Weathers, followed by the Rockys, and Action Jackson somewhere in there. He was so damn good in all of them, I still can't watch Apollo's fight with Ivan. All that said, he as himself in Arrested Development will always be my favorite, because of how sincerely much fun he was clearly having. "You got a stew goin'" immediately became part of my lexicon. Thanks for all the great memories, Mr. Weathers.
Fitting tribute. Weathers was a giant. Loved him as the perfect Apollo Creed, and he's incredible in Predator as a compliment to Arnold. Dillon has a great character arc too. RIP Weathers.
@Alien Theory Thank You for this dedication.
Great tribute. My man kept runnin with only one arm! He'll be missed. You know you're getting old when your childhood action heroes start dying. 😢
This is my go to channel for all things Alien. It's sad we lost a legend, but he gave us a lot, and as long as we remember him, he's never too far away
The worst thing about this film has to be the fact that Concrete Jungle never became the live action sequel we needed to happen..... But in the very highest respect to everyone involved, yes, a perfect action film and to this day remains in my top 10 films of all time, and once again in respect to Carl Weathers salute sir I hope in the after life Predator, Drago and that alligator get to share a drink and a laugh with you, much love my friend, you were a massive part of my childhood and upbringing... The world will be a little more cold with out you in it.
As legendary as Weathers was and is I can’t help but feel he never got his time to shine. He deserved to have multiple headlining roles in movies (beyond just Action Jackson) and the fact he never got that can’t help but feel a little tragic.
Thanks for this. Well done, as always. MEMORY: Several years ago, Carl Weathers came to Montréal for Comic-Con. I had the opportunity to thank him for Action Jackson and he told me the story of how that movie was developped. A true class act. READING: I just finished reading ALIENS: BISHOP. After Mister Weather's passing I cast him, in my mind, as one of the Marines in the book. I won't spoil it, but you might be able to guess who.
What a great tribute! Thank you for doing it with such respect and class!
My introduction to Carl Weathers was as Apollo Creed in the Rocky movies. Been a fan of him since. It pained me when I heard of his passing. Even my dad was shocked as well. RIP Carl Weathers. Thank you for fond memories especially as a kid. You will be missed but never forgotten. 🇺🇸🦅
Wonderful video mate ❤
Fantastic video about this character - thanks for that! I fell in love with Predator as a teen watching it on vhs, and still cherish it. Carl can be proud of his part in this masterpiece of a rollercoaster.
Good episode thanks. He will be missed 😊
Carl Weathers was a fantastic actor. Every role he played he had such a screen presence. He was brilliant in all the roles he played. RIP Dillon you SOB.
That handshake in Predator: best handshake in history. RIP Carl Weathers. He played great characters. His character of Dillon in Predator was among them. I like how despite trying to justify himself, he still possessed that code he criticized Dutch and his team for. He was a soldier through and through, wnd a bad ass to the end.
This one hit me harder than most celebrity deaths..maybe because he's been a part of my life since I was a kid...I'm damn near 50 now so it's a trip so see these heroes of mine pass on, especially after they have entertained you soooo many many times..mannnn...Chubbs is gone?? This f'n sucks
This was a beautiful video. Very much works as a tribute to the Titan Carl Weathers. I’ll always love him as Apollo Creed, and the CIA spook Dillon. But he made me feel like a kid again seeing him in the Mandalorian as Greef Karga. He is missed but I think will always be remembered. RIP Papa Weathers 🤘🏼
I felt totally choked up when I heard about Carls death. Thanks for this fitting tribute to a wonderful actor and director. We have lost one of our finest.
Yes! I love the OG Predator. I was hoping you would do some vids about it! As always ty for your hard work.
"I woke up, why don't you..." RIP Carl 🙏
Finally got around to watching this. Solid work as always. RIP, Carl.
This is a beautifully edited video. You combine the visuals that are all so familiar, with the passages of the novel many of us are not, to re-tell a story we know yet only so much. This is a lovely trouble to Carl. RIP Dillon, you never were that smart.
A good epitaph for any man. Respect.
Thank you for making this video
Wonderful tribute. My favorite Carl Weathers role as well. Great job on this vid
