I've been playing the darbuka and riq for over 30 years now. I have always LOVED the riq. It is such a crucial instrument in any Arabic music. I think at times it's more important to hear a riq in Arabic music versus a darbuka. But I love both.

The Riq and Tableh( Doumbek) among other percussion instruments are important and they compete each other, but of course each one has its own flavor and it shines in certain form of music music. Thank you for you nice comment!

Great video! I love the historical background you brought, I find it so important. I love your riq and have been trying to find out how to get a hold of a Kevork riq? I find no contact information online, I assume it is something shared amongst musicians? Could you provide any lead? Thank you !!!

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, it is hard to find Keevork Riq, but we have Nakhle and other makers that are doing a great job making Riqs and other percussion instruments. Keep up the good work.
