This video is Probably the most educated and accurate understanding and description of huskies I have ever found by anyone ever! I have one Siberian husky and one Siberian malamute mix. My best friend had an Akita for many years so I was curious their differences in behavior. Excellent video!

Hi Will We have an amazing pup whos only 9 months old and he's massive, really good dog but can be so stubborn lol, he is amazing with the kids BUT he gets VERY jealous of my Mrs, whenever she sits next to me or tries to hug me he will pull her hnads off me and forcefully get inbetween us, he's not visible aggressive when he does it but he does seem to get extremely jealous. Any idea why he's like this and is it a common thing with Akitas? Do they usually latch onto one family member and want only them? Also he's absolutely terrified of getting into the car and will just lay on the floor and make the typical hunky tantrum sounds lol. Any help will be massively appreciated. Thanks James

I need more detailed information on the difference/similarities between a American Akita and Hustika. Topics such as guarding, shedding, which is more adaptable to heat; really the basic dog comparisons. There really isn't any comparison information between these two animals, and I'm trying to see which one would be the best for me. I originally was going with the American Akita. But once I saw the Huskita, I want to know the difference since the Huskita is a combination of both of the dogs I like. If you can do a video on that, I'd be very grateful.

I actually own a huskita, shes american akita/ husky, split 50/50. And ill be honest it differs between each puppy greatly. We keep in contact with her litter mates for play dates so I've gotten to see how all of their individual personalities differ. My girl in particular is extremely dog friendly, very great temperament with aggressive dogs as in she knows when to desesculate and when to defend herself without causing a fight, she's is protective of the house and of me and extremely wary of people. She has a strong prey drive but is gentle with cats and dogs (she chases birds and lizards fervently tho). Not quite as vocal as a husky but does vocalize from time to time. Shes also much more calm and stoic compared to her siblings. I actually picked her specifcally for how calm she was in comparison. But shes VERY stubborn and likes to push boundaries. A firm, gentle and consistent hand is highly necessary. Her coat is much thicker and more plush than a husky tho, more like that of an akita. She's also stockier with a more stout face structure. I'd say overall my dogs temperament and build leans further into her Akita side. BUT some of her littermates love people and strangers, they don't display as much of a guarding tendency as mine does, they lack a curled akita tail (my girls is tightly curled), they're on a leaner side and smaller, resembling their husky side much much more. With mixed breeds its honestly a toss up and it's best if you're choosing a specific mix breed to meet the pups and see which temperament you enjoy.

I have owned both breeds, and would not recommend either for inexperienced owners. If not trained properly, both can be extremely dangerous especially around other people and animals.
