this was perfect! i needed a cheap camera super fast for my university & i was dead set on the v50x until i heard the audio quality 💀 i feel much better about buying it knowing that the mic makes the audio so much clearer :)

If you think you have received a faulty Akaso external microphone, DO THIS: 1. Reinstall latest firmware as instructed. 2. Attach the external microphone with the camera off. 3. Turn camera on and turn on the "external microphone" setting. 4. Record a short video with the external mic close to you. 5. Review the results on the camera(optional). You should notice a dramatic difference in quality.👍 Note: I've only tested this method with the Akaso V50X. Let us know if this works for you.

Great review . I just unpacked my new Akaso V50X . I love the camera . But the audio from the internal mic really lets it down . I was getting really depressed then I found your test . The external mic really does work well . So now I'm pleased with my purchase again . And I'm going to order the external mic now .

Great Video Ken. I just ordered the v50x with the mic. Shopping for one of these action cameras is not easy. All have or lack different valuable features. This one seemed to fit the bill as long as you have the mic. Some you can’t even hook up an external mic to. I’m hoping I made the right choice. As for the mic test. I was very impressed. The sound of your voice was clear in all 3 video tests. Just noticed a wee bit of wind noise at the beginning of the first test, hardly anything though. Background noise was perfect. To me, both background and voice synced really well together even though I’ve never had a camera like this before. It was actually much like you were a news reporter with clear speech and again clear accurate background noise behind and around you. Very good I thought 👍 anyway just my 10 cents worth 🙂

Most people say "don't buy that mic", but they use it from far away, but if the mic is close to you, sounds way better than the original camara mic.

Thank you for the v50x mic demos. The external mic tone and volume sound better than the internal, but it does not sound stereo? The v50pro reviews said that external mic didn't shut off v50pro internal mic which still recorded to the LEFT channel, while the external mic recorded the RIGHT channel? Can you confirm the v50x internal mic is turned off, and the external mic records monophonic?

Yeah the v50x internal mic was turn off. The Auto is coming directly out of the microphone. With the v50x, you can choose external microphone auto on or off.

combining the Akaso v50x with this external mic and the Feiyutech g6 gimbal and you got a nice little budget setup. Add some postprocessing and you are set.

Hi. I would like to know why there is a faint "static noise" wether it's on the internal or external mic. My voice is super clear and cam/mic is just perfect but there is still that small noise present no matter what I do. Could there be a fix for this?

Quality isnt bad. Not great but actually not too shabby. A little editing in post, might be able to boost its quality even more, but overall not bad!

Just (this week) bought this camera and mic to use on my paramotor (Y.T. chan PPG WhereEverett). I have not used them but will make a video maybe Wed or Thurs using ALL my cams. We'll See.....

Do these allow you to run a third party external mic? I just bought mine haven’t tried the external mic from them yet but I’ll be using it for motovloging.

Part 0ne sounds great! Part Two sounds rather sharp to the ears. .. so maybe the microphone in the car should be positioned elsewhere. The background noice is not disturbing to me. Part Three sounds great and you can hear the background but that's nomal. Overall: great Microphone. The V50x without this Microphone is stupid.

I just got the V50X and same thing with the "muffled" sound and it could be the top holes are too small for the mic to pick up enough decibels? Has anyone tried making the holes bigger with a tiny drill bit? I may do this one day.

the akaso ext mic... is the v50x mic same as the v50 pro mic? can v50pro ext mic be used on v50x?

I was told that it can not support any other type of converter and microphone other than akaso. I haven't tried it due to the warranty with akaso.

There's something I really can't understand about the V50X (and it's been the reason I've given it back). It has a micro USB port. Isn't the Akaso mic a mini USB one? How come does micro USB work with mics? I know since long that external mics only work with a mini USB or USB-C ports.

I understand your concern. I ask that question several times, and was told akaso camera only work with akaso microphone. However the external microphone is well worth the price if you are using an akaso v50x

Think it sounds really good. Suppose it has to be close to your mouth. But for 10 dollars. Worth it.

No, I've tried. Didn't work

That cushion on the mic is a wind screen and a pop screen. 99% of mics have this. Unless it’s the sure sm57, or a condenser mic, which does have a pop screen but not directly on the mic.

I can't find a microphone. All sold out on Amazon. :(

Just recieved the microphone today ..mine doesnt seem to be as clear as yours Ken maybe i didnt have it close enough to my mouth ? The video quality was very good tho ...very windy where i am so maybe that had something to do with it ? Thanks for the review

You can get them off the akasotech web site. I ordered one for my v50x and it arrived today, but the plug doesn't match the ports in my camera. :( I'm asking them to send me the right one.

Do not buy Akaso action cameras. They are rubbish. You can't use it for long. They break down easily. My friend and I bought Akaso action cam from Aliexpress. Mine broken down within a month and my friend's broke down in a few months as well.
