I am even not sure yet if 4k is what I need, so far filming by my phone at 1080 already made me happy. I really like the V50 pro in terms of true color reflection and the resolution choices (up to 4k 30) look already decent enough to me, as a 1st cam for me to test the water. Totally agree. At this price point, I was and am super impressed with the stabilization of this little camera. Don't think you can get much better unless you go to an actual GoPro 7

@@kuttysblog7384 I started using it for the first time last week. Image is clear. Responds well to sudden changes from light to dark. I can read number plates of cars overtaking me but not so easily when cars are coming towards me but I and the cars are moving fast. I would recommend this camera

I bought one of these little cameras maybe 2 months ago and I love it, it has exceptional video quality, I couldn't be happier . I gave 101.00 USD for it and I hear that gopro's run around 4 to 5 hundred dollars, I have no desire to pay that much since this one does so good,

I agree its got fantastic image quality and you gotta be super happy with all the accessories that it comes with. Crazy good camera! Im trying the Akaso Elite right now that review will be up soon.

You did a really good job of showing how the image stabilization works, and a good illustration of the Fields of View. There is hardly any image distortion in Wide and Super Wide that I could see. Very nice. Also, the slow motion looks great. The only thing holding me back is, since it will not flip the video to allow upside down, can you put the open frame mount on with the mounting connection on top?

Thanks for the review. Will that open frame external housing go on upside down, so the mount is on top? I need to be able to mount it underneath a horizontal surface, and I don't want the video to be upside down if I do.

Im actually working on that video today! I had to get a replacement camera from Akaso as I couldnt get the external mic to work no matter what we tried. Bought a second mic, did all the firmware updates, nothing! So just received a replacement from them (free of charge - which was excellant!) and am doing some testing again today. Video should be up shortly. Also if you are in Canada we have received an updated code to use for the camera up until the 9th of February! So make sure to check out the description for the Amazon code!

im very impressed with this little action camera. the quality truly surprised me. I did order a mic which should be here soon. Once that gets here I will do an external mic test. What other tests should I do with the camera?

I would definitely say that a GoPro hero 7 would be better. But is it 3-4 times the price better? That I don’t know. I have my doubts.

i got mine a month ago, but the eis is very bad 4k 30fps, 1080p 60fps video is not good. hopefully akaso do something avout my problem

no thats the camera trying to deal with pretty low light in our entryway. so it was slowing the shutter speed down. Pretty much happens on most action cams in low light.

Does it work with voice commands?

The slotted rear clear back is a dust cover. It is not for under water use. It permits sound to reach the microphone for when you bicycle, base jump, motorcycle, etc. It also permits insertion of a hook and loop strip for mounting the camera yet another way beyond the many ways already provided. Can you please explain the wrist remote better? What exactly happens when you press the power button on the remote? Does the camera "wake up" from the power off state? I guess what I'm asking is, can you turn the camera power on remotely? This would be a nice feature. Thanks. Eh?

sadly I don't know of any action cameras with remotes that can turn the camera on from it being powered off. And yes that would be an amazing feature. But doubtful that its doable as the camera would not really be totally off. The Bluetooth chip would need to be getting power to realize that a command to power on was being sent. Maybe some kind of super sleep mode where only the Bluetooth chip was still being powered?

Chad Horwath hard question to answer. Gimbals are great to have and provide awesome smooth video but they are a pain to carry around with you. I have 3 gimbals and barely ever use them. For me convenience is so important. I need to be able to whip out my camera and start shooting. Plus I really don’t want to carry any additional gear most of the time. But again they will definitely provide you with the nicest footage. On the flip side having a second action camera is always good. So that if one stops working you have a backup and having multiple angles is always a huge plus for getting the perfect shot. The stabilization in the AKASO is honestly surprisingly good and I now have two of these cameras. If it were me id go for the camera. But that’s my thought. Either is a great addition. If you can afford it get both. If you do go for a gimbal make sure to get one that can work on a GoPro and a smartphone. This way you can use it for both styles of camera. Hope that helps. Wish you had shown how to remove the waterproof casing from the base. I removed the rubber grommet but for the life of me can't get the casing to slide off the baseplate. Any suggestions appreciated.

Rudy Roesel once the rubber piece is removed you should just need to squeeze the plate and slide the camera out. But the rubber piece has to be removed.

I am considering making this purchase. Currently I have the brave 4. One thing I don’t understand is the size of the files are so large how do you make them smaller once you’ve downloaded them to your computer so that you can share them with others? Good review

you dont. Large files are whats needed to contain the amount of quality. Sharing files is what you have SD cards or USB sticks for. The only way to shrink the file size is to reduce the resolution and quality. There are websites like wetransfer that you can use for fairly large files.

Unfortunately I found this video after I had bought the camera and I had the same difficulty to open the package, haha. The V50 Pro is, in my opinion, the best value for the money if you want 4k/ 30fps, image stabilisation, touch screen, remote control, ajustable angles between 70 and up to 170 degrees and a lot of goodies in the box. Very good video, greetings from Germany to Canada.

I've been browsing around trying to figure out what camera to get. I'm planning a trip to switzerland with my girlfriend and we'll be doing a travel vlog - a lot of walking, and hiking, and a few things like ziplining that actually would need an action camera, unlike the first two. I have a dslr canon 1200d camera with a lens that does not have image stabilization, and my phone's 5+ years old so the camera quality (and sadly, battery life) is not quite good, so I've been debating what to use on the trip - either a new dslr lens, or an action camera. Been browsing action cameras and it's hard to figure out what to get! I was looking at the Akaso 7000 pro, the v50 pro, the Yi 4k+ and a gopro hero 5 older model. The akasos are definitely cheaper than the other two, and the quality is quite nice but a complaint I saw is that in poorer lighting, the akasos struggle with showing the true colors of things. What is your experience with this? Have you tried any of the other cameras I mentioned? Thanks!

Tchernobog11 I have played with the original Yi action camera and it always impressed me. But I haven’t tried the newer Yu cams. The AKASO V50 Pro is one of my favourite cameras that I’ve tested. The low light isn’t great. But I really don’t think any of them are since their sensors are so small.

@@gregtoope Fair enough! Pretty much down to the akaso or the yi then? I found a relatively cheap gopro hero 5 that was rebranded by gopro as "gopro hero (2018)". Does the 5 compare to either the v50 or the yi? Or is the 6/7 a more comparable level? I think what I'm looking for is EIS and at least the possibility of 4k.

@@Tchernobog11 Thats what I would want as well. I was really surprised with the EIS on the Akaso V50 Pro. The old Yi that I had didnt have any EIS and was only an HD camera not 4K. But it's image was definitely nice. The 4K on the Akaso is really nice as well (as long as it isnt dark) and the EIS works in HD and 4K which is definitely a bonus. I have no experience with the GoPro cameras as they are always out of my price range.

Is it possible to attach a Rode mic with an adapter?

Is there an option to turn off the display when recording?

The display does turn off after about a minute of recording to help conserve power. Another click on the record button turns the display back on, and then a second push will stop the recording. Hope that helps.

well hopefully the mic they give works as i'm having issues with mine. Not sure if its the mic or the camera but the external from Akasa isn't working. Replacement is on the way so fingers crossed.

Did you ever update the firmware of your akaso v50 pro? and what firmware are you using? because on my new akaso v50 pro.. i have notice that 1080p 60fps down to lower resolution had a very very poor image quality.. very dis appointing.. Thanks..

@@gregory9740 Honestly not sure why you would want to 'pause' a recording. And not sure of any camera that would do that nowadays. Every time you start and stop recording you get a clip. There is no such thing as a pause button on modern-day video cameras. Pausing was a feature on tape-based recording media so that the tape stayed tight and the recording could start a fraction faster. But as far as I know not an actual thing on any digital media based video camera.

i use this camera only in 4k and usually get between 45 mins and an hour or recording on a battery. Depends on temperature as well as how many start and stops.

@@gregtoope The spec mention specifically using the a SD Samsung card. Is this what you have been using? Do you know if ScanDisk works too?

Nick I’m using a Samsung 64 and 32 gig card. But the 128 gig that is coming is a Sandisk.

My akaso v50 Pro give a blurry footage in 1080p. My old gitup2 cam give a better footage.

just tried it now and works like a charm. can start and stop recording. and with the app, I can change all the different settings. are you having an issue with the wifi?

Doesnt seem to have a problem mounting to motorcycle helmets. Just met a rider with one.

4K was sharp but when you switched to 1080 it became very blurry. I was interested in this camera but after I saw this I will definitely not buy one.

so what would your honest oppinion be... Gopro hero6 black... OR... this? im confused on this because you get SO much stuff for the price... what is the DOWN FALL of this vs the Gopro hero6? i need for for riding my motorcycle..."just in case scenarios" . would this be good to record or will there be a lot of screen tearing while riding?

N0 XxM3RCYxX since I haven’t used a GoPro hero 6 it’s hard for me to answer. I would say that the best thing about the actual GoPro would be the external audio support the AKASO has external support but not to the level of the GoPro.

1080 is way oversharped, practically unusable.

This camera is not so great for indoors :(((((( the lighting is pretty bad

Br Fa action cams in general are bad in low light. They are definitely designed to be used outdoors.

@@gregtoope I have heard updating the firmware might help with image and sound quality but also heard you can brick it doing so. Not sure where I can find and how to do it. Have you tried updating to latest firmware version?

I have also heard that, but my firmware update went perfectly. No issues at all.

Id be contacting Akasa's tech support. They were good with me when I was having issues with their mic. Hopefully you will get similar help. Sorry for the bad luck.
