We had this exact model growing up it was a fantastic unit with huge speakers. Currently looking to purchase another or build up a full kit.

I have a turntable akai from 1979, and I can say the quality of this thing is something else...crystal sound with the knobs still looking like new. beautiful set.

I have the same Amp and tuner. Looks great in a dark room.

Bubbling Remix The cass. deck that likely went with this stereo would be from the GXC line. I believe those start a with the 700D, and go up to the 760D. Very nice decks, solid with many features.

kreeg toevallig vanmiddag een telefoontje van iemand waar ik eerder een marantz heb gekocht dat hij een zwarte aa-1150 heeft staan, echter ik heb geen interesse, mijn voorkeur gaat echt uit naar de zilveren uitvoeringen, dat maakt het pas echt vintage, die zwarte glimmen niet... Wat betreft jouw aa-1200, is een beest, heb ik nog nooit gehoord maar staat op mijn verlanglijstje die ooit te bemachtigen, de zoektocht gaat door. veel pelezier met je mooie hobby olaf.

I think the best building quality have the Yamaha CR x20 series. I think the paint will go away if you try cleaning an Akai .

Great review. Such a pity you didn't video the restoration process. I once got an Akai tuner/amp that was so big and heavy we had to get a taxi home rather than a subway. It even had 240 volt sockets on its back end. Oddly, some of the speaker outputs were 1/4 inch jack sockets. Anyway, great review. Thanks.
