Ajab Shahar: Kabir in America - Part 2 (English Subtitles)

In 2003, the words of a 15th century mystic poet from north India came alive in the unlikely context of North America, in a performance tour of the Malwi folk singer Prahlad Singh Tipanya, organized by the scholar Dr. Linda Hess.
'Ajab Shahar: Kabir in America - Part 2' features these 6 songs of Kabir from the live performances during this tour, interwoven with glimpses of this unusual journey, in which rural singers from India encounter a land unfamiliar and strange - but perhaps not as unfamiliar and 'ajab' as the self Kabir urges us to investigate.

Prahlad Singh Tipanya first heard the tambura, a 5-stringed folk instrument, in 1978 and was captivated. He was 24 years old then and singing was not an inherited family tradition. However, this became a defining moment for the way his life was going to unfold, for it was the tambura that led him into the world of Kabir. Four decades later, he is a household name in the villages of Malwa in central India. Many give him major credit for the resurgence of oral traditions of Kabir in this region. A retired government school teacher, Prahladji is widely respected as one who propagates with great personal intensity the spiritual and socio-political message of Kabir. Dr. Linda Hess is one of the finest scholars and translators of Kabir into the English language who has taught at the Stanford University for several decades. She was drawn to India in the 1960s and has been working on Kabir oral and textual traditions ever since. Her books include The Bijak of Kabir, considered by many to be one of the best translations of Kabir into English, Singing Emptiness and Bodies of Song. Contact Linda at lionda@standford.edu.

So true I too follow Swami Satwapriyananda but my favourite is Swami Atmashraddhananda.

प्रहलादजी शायद आपने सोचा होता कि कबिर मे ए ज्ञान कहा से प्रगटा तो आप को मालुम होजा ता कि प्रवाह कहासे आरहा है कबिरने सभि शात्रो पठे थे ईसमे ज्यादतर गिताजी ने उनके जीवन को बदलदिया मुस्लिम फकिरमे दोहि एसे सत हुवे जीसने हकिकत मे शास्त्रो को पुराण को अपने जीवन मे ऊतारे किसिकि भि परवा कि ए बिना एक है कबिर ओर दुसरा है स्वराष्ट्र के संत सतारशा ईस दोनो के भजन मे एकहि विचार मिलते है दोनोके जीवन मे ज्यादातर गिताजीका प्रभाव ज्यादा रहा बाकि पुराण से लकर सभि शास्त्रो उसने सभि पठे है..!
