Gonna yap a bit here... I understand not wanting to get pregnant. Your body goes through a lot of changes and those changes don't stop even after the baby is born. So I get the sister wanting a surrogate. I understand asking them for surrogacy tips. But asking them to help her with it financially isn't right. Especially since she's not infertile. Nor does it mention anything about her being SAed like the wife. So no, NTA.

NTA at all. I don't understand people's entitlement. If you want a surrogate, why should it be anyone else's financial burden?

The OP's wife does have a great point there but he felt compelled to be blunt about it and came out being out of line, but handling it differently would have been a better option down the line.

Prople know that just saying "no" is an option, you dont have to be rude.

He did say no to his sister. She wouldn't accept it , and called her flying monkey, their mother. That says that the sister didn't listen the first time. Plus, the mother was mighty presumptuous to as the OP to pay for it, and she wasn't willing to contribute. So, he had to be blunt. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I agree with the sister. Sister should pay for her baby holder though. Your wife should have gotten over it and carried a baby herself. You want a baby so make the baby and carry it.
