See the problem with a lot of the op’s is that they choose to reconnect with these maniacs. I hate that they still have some type of contact with their parents. I would’ve slapped my mom if she didn’t apologize to me for betraying me. Believe me being petty to the right people is always good

I have to say I'm surprised the ex and brother tried to blame him as if parroting the parents would help anything but make him angrier. In my opinion the OP let him off lightly with one punch. I'm feeling angry because the mother says she wants to reconcile but also said the brother needs his help. Manipulation coming. Needs to go No Contact with all these people and maybe restraining orders.
