NTA, a parent is supposed to take care of the child. I get it as an older sister who raised my younger sister that 3 year olds have the tendency to stick to their mother phase. But it’s important for balance. You need your social time. 1 night a week isn’t to bad. The husband could just calm down and then do it. I have toddler siblings. Toddlers work in mysterious ways but if you’re calm and gentle the toddler should cooperate. Overall I see both sides of the story but I don’t think your the a-hole in this story. NTA

I’m on dad’s side here; he does deserve to know the time frame. While my dad gave mom time she needed, she always returned the respect by letting him know when she planned on being back, and checking in if things changed.

I didn't hear anything about a night off for him? And he asked. He didn't tell you to come home. Is it really so much to ask to tell him what time you'll be home? You family should come before your friends. If you're staying latervthan expected show thevrespect of advising him.
