AIS Transponder installation on a small sailing boat

AIS Transponder installation on a small sailing boat Em Trak B100
One final job i wanted to do this winter was to install AIS (automaitc identification system) into the sailboat before the summer, i had chose to install an AIS transponder rather than an AIS receiver as the cost to get the transponder was not much difference, and would future proof the installation for future upgrades.
The package we got was the EM-Trak sailors pack which includes a B100 Transponder and VHF splitter, which is exactly what we needed, Its important to note that i am not sponsored by EM-Trak, just a happy customer.
this will help our passage planning in the future and you will see this in use during season 3.
if you havent watched anything from our channel before then what are you waiting for, there is are a couple of nicely organised playlists for you, but if you want an intro to our boat you will find that here;

And if you're wondering who we are? then thats here;
Welcome to Cactus sailing where we are sailing the uk, and sailing uk waters, This season we’re heading west to the scilly isles but in future we hope to go sailing and travel further to France or Spain.
Our true ambition is to go sailing around the world cruising along the way in our sailing boat, although our boat might not be up to getting to the Mediterranean (for our comfort levels anyway)
To that point we may change the Bavaria 30 in the future for a bluewater sailing yacht or a liveaboard boat which we can live full time.
But for now the English channel is our ocean and sailing the pacific can be left to other sailing yachts like la vagabonde, we will stick to the south coast sailing until we follow in many others footprints.
This sailing vlog and this season you will see our life on board namely boat life in our tiny floating house as we avoid the storms and go off cruising the uk south coast which isnt quite blue water cruising but the tides and winds sure make for a challenging ride!

    Hi - we have the plotter (actually the GPS551, but hey-ho...) and we are interested in the AIS unit. Our GPS551 has similar AIS menus and NMEA2000 connectors so it was good to see the little triangles on the screen. However, I did not see vessel details on the screen - is there a way to find that out? The name, MMSI, etc...?

    Sailing Yacht Salty Lass yeah you just hover the curser over the vessel and all the details are listed next to it so you call on the radio etc. Its good because it should work with a new plotter too if I decide to upgrade :)

    Hi! This transponder is impossible to get anymore it seems? With this, and a yakker( and no plotter), perhaps signal could be sent out to any PC? Do you know anyone who still sells this transponder?

    Nice vid, thanks for explaining! I've also bought the Em-trak B100 and S100 splitter and will set it up soon. Hopefully the installation also will be without to much a hassle. Maybe interessting to know: I also ordered a YakBak (yakbitz) to output the nmea to wifi. I can then get the AIS info on my tablet and phone. I already installed OpenCPN on my phone and tablet with charts of NL and the UK. (The YakBak is bi-directional so I hope I can also send back info to the autopilot, that would be a nice extra if it will work. First getting AIS to work.) Cheerz!

    Great idea, there is option to connect to the ais via usb so there must be a way to export it onto a WiFi network!

    Did you enter your boat info/data into the AIS?

    Wilson T , yes connected a laptop via the USB port and set up the mmsi etc, it’s straight forward to be honest, but you can’t change the mmsi once entered so triple check it!

    You can’t reset it, it can only be reset at a dealer once the mmsi code has already been entered.
