Top job! Nice page also! I've just picked up wagner 150 today for my garage, fence, decking, and some interior stuff so was just looking at some vids on fence prep ready for tomorrow. I feel like id prefer a narrower tip for more precision as Its new to me, is there any you'd recommend? Are there any alternatives to wagner ones as they seem very pricey

Tbh josh, I think they are all pricey, but I've only ever bought graco tips...you wont get any change out of £22 including vat for a graco tip.

@@JoshRampling i know this is an old comment, but you can buy a graco guard, then use.graco tips. The guard will fit on the same gun.

Hi Joe. I noticed you were using Roseal Fence Life + paint. Did you use this on concrete gravel boards? Can fence paint be used on concrete?

Hi, yes it can but a couple of things to consider are first of all, the concrete must be stabilised first, and secondly fence oaint is not the best product to use. Masonry paint will last much longer. Fence oaint was all that was available at the time, but masonry paint is what I would choose to use on the concrete.

There was undoubtably some overspray(nothing visable on the other side), and not as much with a ff tip because the pressure can be reduced. Card was used to mask where protection from overspray was needed...but i was lucky to have overgrown wasteland on the other side of this particular fence , so it was not needed in most places. I either use a guard on a pole, or the cards attached with clamps when needed, but on the majority of jobs i do on fencing, i take the panels out and spray against a masked area.

@@JoeProDecor great advice that cheers joe. Got a fence to do in the spring with my gx21 but there is a pretty nice garden on the other side. Thing i might go around there and gaffa tape some cardboard on the other side for protection then stick a shield underneath to make sure i don't get any onto the patio at the bottom on the customers side

Nice job. Would that airless spray masonry paint.

Thanks, yes it would but it would have to be thinned a little. Tbh, if I was to spray paint masonry on a regular basis, I would go for a bigger pump like the 495.

Hi yes, its ronseal fence life plus in 'Slate' and almost used 2 x 5 litre tubs. It took me 1hr 20 mins including setting up sprayer(not cleaning it out) and condensed it into that 18 minutes....lol

@@JoeProDecor looks like a nice colour that 👍 I done mine the other day I used wickes shed and fence timbercare in 'silver pebble' wasn't too sure if it would be any good but it went on a treat. Sprayed the first coat on then back brushed to make sure it soaked right into the grain and then just sprayed second coat and left it to soak in on it's own. How do you find the gxff? I used the graco gx21 with a 516fflp tip

@@marsdencarl89 love the gxff, it's so versatile. If I end up going onto new builds or full refurbs, I will get a bigger pump. This is perfect for domestics and small exterior jobs like this.

@@JoeProDecor yea they are great little sprayers. I bought mine hoping to get into spraying but haven't really had many jobs where I've been able to use it so far so thought I'd make use of it and spray the fence 😀

@@marsdencarl89 I have the graco ultra handheld which i hardly use....they are ok for the odd door, small.piece of furniture ect...

that wood is so pitted and pourous theres no way a sprayer will cover that youll have to either roll it or brush it so is a waster of time filling up an airless system for that you may as well just use a hand held cheapo sprayer all its doing is blasting the paint onto the wood. you still have to lay it off by hand.

Yes I agree that laying off with a brush is needed as explained in the video, but I wouldn't say its a complete waste of time as it is still quicker to spray and lay off, than to apply by brush or roller....applying by roller only is a right oain in the backside on these because they are not flat. The purpose of this video is not to show the best way necessarily, but to show people alternative methods...everyone can decide for themselves 👍
