Airgun Setup | The Accessories I Chose & Why | FX Impact | FX Maverick

Ойын-сауық

Certain airguns like the FX Maverick and FX Impact are so customizable there is a sea of choices. Here are the choices I made, and why I made them. Each rifle is exactly as I would want it, based on particular jobs I have in mind for them. If you are looking for advice on how to upgrade your guns, here is my two cents! If you would like to see these guns in action, follow the links below.

    I love your setups, it has inspired me to buy an FX gun. Kieth do you think the Maverick .30 cal compact would make a good truck gun to shoot slugs out of for prairie dogs? The farthest I would be shooing is 130 yards or do you think the Wildcat compact .22 would be a better option? When I say Truck gun I mean I will be shooting out the bed of my truck out into a field. Thanks in advance man. Keep up the great work.

  • @68Whiskey

    @68Whiskey

    Im always dubious of compact guns shooting slugs. It can work but it is hard to get them going fast enough in my experience. For slugs i would rather see a sniper version bullpuo to keep length down. But for 130 yards, a 30 cal pellet will do the job nicely. Lot easier to tune, cheaper to shoot, and more accurate most of the time. If you were into pellets id say get the mav 30 compact and have a blast killing out to 150

  • @FarmerFpv

    @@68Whiskey Oh yeah, I don't mind shooting pellets. I don't need to get the compact either. I was looking at the Maverick sniper version in .22 as well. Do you think a .30 cal would be better than a .22 for pigeons and ground squirrels? I'm not stuck on a compact I just thought they looked cool, lol. would a .22 be easier to tune for slugs and pellets than a .30? Sorry to bother you so much Keith, I just trust your advice. Only issue like I had is on improper rails on air rifles like fx impact gen 1 rail was not a true Picatinny rail spacing. You could not us it with those any good mount of course FX addressed that issue.

    @@68Whiskey Yeah. When I started going back on your stuff, I was kinda trippin on that, because I have a buddy who’s pretty brilliant at that stuff, but it took years for him to learn. Granted from the 80’ and 90’s to now there’s been a huge leap in tech. Either way appreciate the video. Gave me some more ideas. Started baiting the back 5 acres. Those squirrels have just taken over. Maybe I can share a bit soon. Thank again.

    I saw Rick at Shooter 1721 shoot a 22 caliber FX impact and it penetrated 3/4 in of wood at 400 yds. I'm going to purchase a FX impact Mark 3 with a 600 mm Barrel,slug power kit and FTX Barrel. The question I have is will this 30 cal be as accurate and also be able to penetrate 3/4 inches of wood at 400 yd or is the slug going to be too heavy and lose too much energy at that distance?

    You guys use outstanding rifles and accessories. I am 74 and my pesting consists of shooting harassing sparrows from my three bluebird nesting boxes at 25-35 yards. The only PCP I have is a Gamo Urban which is super accurate. I need to use a rest to stay on target. Could you guys recommend an inexpensive gun rest? I usually use the corner of the porch, or the house to steady my rifle. I don't want to spend a ton of money on one, but neither do I want to buy a piece of junk either. I never miss one of your videos. You guys and Matt Dubber have some of the best on KZread. Thanks for any help you can provide. 🥺 Geo from Kalamazoo, MI

    Idk if you realize you said on the eagle rings you can tighten them as much as you want and they won't brake. That is why their are torque specs. If 80-90 percent bolt heads brake off , maybe you should try proper torque specs. Food for thought. I still learn a lot from you just a thought. Ex-tech sorry had to torque everything for a reason.

  • @68Whiskey

    @68Whiskey

    You are absolutely right. No argument i should use the torque specs. But i dont. I crank em hard. The eagle bolts break. The fx ones dont. Just an observation from use of many. I torque the scope bolts itself but not the pic rail bolt

This model doesn’t have coverage like the older mk2. So it’s a little different. Also with the 720 mm plenum I can’t find any videos that address this issue. Can anyone please help At least point me in the right direction I want to learn everything about my rifles. Thank YOU I need help.

    It sounds like a valve is stuck and needs a short powerful burst of air to reset it. Let me guess, you got it used and it was stored empty of air for awhile right? When they sit empty the seals relax and are hard to get going again. Usually a firemans bottle blast of air will seal. A compressor will never get it to seal

    I've tried buying an FX impact for 2 years now with no luck. Put a deposit down on a pre order only to be offered one quickly. I got a bad feeling that they built it from parts, got a refund. I have read reviews from the BBB about people getting ripped and having bad dealings. Also , these rifles seem to be out of stock every time I look. The only way I would buy one is to cash and carry it out. But, I have trouble with no stores in my state.
