The, "Long rods," on the British infantry are Coopers - a type of pike carried by the Colour Sergeants. Although the duties have changed, they would originally have defended the colours, and thus were issued with weapons that didn't have to be reloaded.

I have zero interest in the Napoleonic wars. Having said that, the Airfix Napoleonic figures were some of the nicest figure sets they ever created. You might notice that there are figures on the frames which represent dead soldiers - this was common in Airfix sets, and, as kids, they were the first ones we looked for, on opening the box. Kids can be morbid little sods; I know this, because I was one. The box art is absolutely gorgeous, I cannot deny that. The only set I owned, were the Prussians. To this day, I don't know why. 🤔🤔🤔 😆😆😆 Lovely to see those old boxes again. And the figures are still on their frames! Actually gave me goosebumps when I saw that! Even if figures are not your thing, those little boxes are things of beauty in their own right. Nice one. Thank you.

Cheers Brian. Not my thing either, but interesting and a bit unusual. Dead horses! Yuk!

@@nostalgicplastic4323 Dead horses. Not pleasant, but sadly realistic. One of those sets has a little diorama of a bloke hiding behind his presumably just fallen horse. Sad, but true.

I've got the Prussian Llandwher and also Royal Scots Greys and Polish Lancers. Not sure if all Airfix but haven't got around to painting the Prussian or Scots or Polish.

You are only missing the French Imperial Guard. I had hundreds and hundreds of those, I painted, as a child.

@@nostalgicplastic4323 but British were 12lbs against French 9lbs so if you bought 3 British boxes you got 6 but just 2 French got you 6 too
