It looks like a good canvas for people to enhance with their own details although i have fond memories of being cabbied around in them i don't think i would have the space for the rotors . But never say never 🤔😊. All the best Gary 🤗. Regards Gav.
I have a 1990s tinlet of Humbrol 250 Desert Pink, but I think the colour was discontinued long ago.
Hi Gary, this looks to be a great kit, if it was in my scale ( I build 1/48th) I would seriously think of getting it, I am certain a company will bring out a 3D decal set soon, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Hi Gary, Looks like a nice kit, Love the Cosford Cold War Museum in the background 👍
looks interesting. I have a lot in my stash at the moment. I'll see when Gary starts building it.
Hiya Gary. Safe journey down today mate. See you later on the stream. 👍😁
Very nice looking kit.
Thanks Gary, I have this now and looking forward to making it, waiting for the mask set from CT. Pretty poor though that there is flash on a brand new mould.
Hi Gary. Thanks for the review. I have a bottle of SMS Desert Pink ZI (PL146) that looks right for the gulf scheme. Looks like a nice kit. Cheers Matt 🦘🦘🦘
The detail looks very simple and… chunky
I don't know if i was building my expectations up, but having watched the unboxing, i feel slightly underwhelmed. I was thinking they would have gone into a bit more detail with some parts, such as the engines etc. No doubt there will be loads of after market parts, but that just increases costs, on a kit which is dear enough as it is. Other people may be happy with it all and that's completely fine, I'm just giving my honest opinion.
Looks great, but you’re right about the pink colour, what are they thinking? Or should I say not thinking!

They used to do a desert pink, Humbrol 250. maybe it got discontinued because people thought it was too pink.
Hi Gary, nice review, just ordered my kit - looking forward to your build, cheers Liam
Looks like a decent kit Gary! I may well invest in one! It's been a while since I built a helicopter
I hope this boo boo with having to mix the paint is a one off situation as i really don't want to see Airfix going down the same road that Revell have in having to mix paints from their own range in all manner of strange ratios....i get it they want to sell their own paints but if another paint brand has the required colour in their range then im using that.....i haven't got time for mixing paints

It was the same set up for the Airfix Gulf War Buccaneer too, so I got a Tamiya mixing jar as that had markings down one side then added the No34 first. After which I added the No118 in the correct percentages thanks to the markings on the side of the jar. Now Ive got about 40ml of Desert Pink already pre mixing for my Bucc, Tornados, Jaguar, Victor and now for the Op Granby Chinook kit too. 👍

@simonjohn8904 awesome but the piont is we should NOT have to do it
Them filters are just wrong. Sure am will sort that out. And there's no roof at the back so if you have the ramp deployed you can see all the way up. Weird shape to fill. Apart from that mine pretty much snaps together. Great touch on the spine as well.
Hi Gary. Yes I used your affiliate link as I always do for any purchases from Airfix. It's so easy to do so I hope everyone does this too 🙏 Im wondering if Frame A is missing in this boxing because Airfix are planning to do a MERT version for a 2025 release, which would obviously have a different interior? Here's hoping anyway. Best of luck at the RNLI today and Im looking forward to tonight's live stream mate. 👍
Not a model for me but looks good for Wokka enthusiasts
Hello Mr.gary!thats a nice boxart.but thats something i am expecting from airfix.that flesh is a pitty.but it looks like a nice little kit.sadly it is not my scale.with sticky greetings from sandy Brandenburg/germany.your fellow modellmate.christian
Im looking forward to having a go at one. Wondering if the rotar s could be fitted upside down to give the in flight apperance... We will see soon.

I doubt it, and they don't curve upwards, they just rotate upwards from the root because there us no UP-Stop .
Interesting, I had no idea Airfix was manufacturing in India, off shore seems to limit the quality control observation and supervision of any product raising prices to cover shipping. Takes some of the British out of Airfix. Not too mention carbon foot print of India and colonial history. Let bygones be bygones as history goes.
Tempted to get this and break out the tools for adding rivets, to further balance the exterior detail with the interior detailing. Looks like a gem of a model too. Will Airfix do a 1/48 version in the vein of its excellent Sea King of that scale? 🙂🤞🏻

What interior detailing ? The main cabin is devoid of any detail apart from the floor.

@@memkiii it’s a 1/72 scale kit and through the open ramp, only the floor, the ramp and the rear section of the fuselage are really visible, especially with the rows of seats in there.
Weird about the paint. Back in the day Humbrol had a desert sand enamel tinlet which was a really good match, so not sure whey they have stopped it 🤷🏻♂️

Not sure if they ever did 250 in acrylics though - that's what they always recommend in the instructions.
Nice! 👍 But i would have liked to see more of the instructions. You just flicked through them a bit fast . You give a detailed look though at the boring stuff on the sides of the box and the beginning of the instructions like you do with all kit reviews. Not as good a review as you normally do but ok. I felt it was a bit rushed.
Airfix continue their campaign to empty my bank account 👍

Tell me about it!
Humbrol dont have the desert colour for this and the buccanner kit.....looks like the left hand (humbrol) doesn't know what the right hand (Airfix) is doing, lol

There used to be a Humbrol enamel 250 which was desert pink - don't know if it was ever made in acrylic though...

@garys_stuff thats a strange one ,Gary
I see Airfix are being a cheapskate again by omitting any crew members. This would be a perfect basis for a simple dioramas virtually straight out of the box with two c ocxkpit crew and maybe a load master. Airfix have done this before with the De Havilland Heron, supplied with pilots, an air-hostess, plus a couple of passengers. Honestly how much extra would it have cost them to add a bit more value to the kit.. This seems to be an on going problem with Airfix as the new B24 Liberator is devoid of any crew . The problem is where can one easily source crew members if you require, them maybe Airfix could release a set for these models with not only aircraft crew, but even adding some ground crew and some equipment. I know Airfix have released a USAF bomber supply set, but again sans any figures, not even a driver or drivers.. Anyway thanks for the review, very interesting and tempting.

There are many reasons why Airfix doesn't include crew but maybe I'll get them to answer in an interview some time.
