    During your oil level check procedure, just turn the prop until you fell the maximum compression. Then hold it and let the pressure escape into the crankcase. You will get your result quicker and with less effort.

    Just a personal gripe, but does anybody know why the C42 was designed with the throttle between the legs? So starting is a juggle, holding the (loose) throttle with left hand, then pulling the choke against a spring between little fingers of right hand whilst stretching the other fingers to operate the start key. I seems madness not to be able to set the throttle. And also it's impossible to unfold and use a kneeboard in flight, so now have to use two, one on each leg. I know it's better than the foot control on a Trike, but still, what were the designers thinking?

    Well, you're not really supposed to do that. But...... There are persistent rumours about one muppet who took off having forgotten to untie the concrete weight attached to each wing's tie-down points. Which duly fell off in flight, fortunatel without hitting anyone. I guess if you used better cord and a slip-knot the end of which reached the cabin ..........

    Dankie/ Merci The MicroPilot. It was a nice video and very informative. In the Landbouweekblad (An ZA farmers magazine) of 20/04/2007 AD the Ikarus C42 was shown . It use 12L per hour and its feultank of 65L can be dubble. (130L). 130L=104kg. The magazine said you can carry 130L insecticide. It is not clear if that means 130L+ 130L? In that case the 600km flight range can be 2 400km (depending on the wind...). I have seen on resent years the use of Diesel engines. A bit more wight and 30 to 40% use less fuel. Thanx again!

    I think the aviation community needs to get a little more clear about the terms ultralight & microlight, because this is not in any reasonable person's definition, anywhere close to microlight. IMO, microlight should mean an aircraft you can fly without a license legally in most countries, ultralight would be right on that threshold (some you can, some you can't), then just plain "light" would be the plane in this video, which I'm pretty sure does require a license almost everywhere.

  • @TheMicroPilot

    @TheMicroPilot

    3 жыл бұрын

    Interesting point. It really does vary per country. I'm aware in the US it is possible to fly some types of aircraft without a license but here in the UK, you even need a license to fly a decent drone/quadcopter.

  • @mdo

    @mdo

    2 жыл бұрын

    AFAIK nowhere in Europe you can fly an airplane of any kind without some type of license. As The MicroPilot said, even flying a quadcopter, unless it's designated as a toy, requires a license.

    I'm comparing that sign outlining the runway 06 departure instructions with Google Earth, and it doesn't make any sense. 10 degrees right of runway heading takes you over the buildings northeast of the field, and over the buildings east of the road junction in Golden Cross (The "Oakwood Business Park"), but flying runway heading, or a little left, takes you over open farmland and west of Golden Cross. Must be a rich guy with his MP on speed dial under the runway heading.
