Thks I believe my driver side front is leaking I can hear it

This was extremely helpful. My driver's side rear bag dropped and isn't inflating. Unfortunately, I also have a donut back there which doesn't help in diagnosing the problem. I checked the distributor and the rear height sensor and there was a leak in the distributor which I think I actually caused by loosening the fitting and then the plastic was so brittle, I think I stripped it so I epoxied it. I never checked the valve block or the compressor. The compressor was working up until today. My ICarsoft MB V2.0 isn't allowing me to check any or the sensors which would be helpful. It has Link Error and out of 47 modules, only the Trans module works. I'm going to check all of the fuse today and the valve block. Thanks for this post!!!

After changing four struts, compressor and valve block on an 01 S430, the rear is at its extended height and the front loses air overnight. When door opened a compressor sound is heard before starting the car which then rises to normal height when running. The rear is still at full extension and it rides hard like a truck. I don't have a tool to bleed/calibrate the struts. Thank you for your help.

Great Job I have the same issue though people are suggestion rear level sensor

If its only one side its not the level sensor

Good video. I have a 2004 Mercedes E500. My left front was going down over night. When we drove it the other day I could hear a high pitched whistling out of that front area when I went around corners. So I am pretty sure the front left bag is leaking. I just ordered one from a vendor off eBay. Hopefully it will be good quality and solve my problem. I also have a evap leak that is causing a check engine light. I have replaced the fuel cap so I am thinking it is the vent valve. I will soon see. Take care. Tom

Great vide. I have the same car w220. Mine is basically the same issue. The passenger rear started to sag real low . The car would air up and level off once started . It would sit ok for almost a week before it sagged again...now the winter weather is super cold and now it starts to sag to the ground within one day. The driver side now sits low also but not nearly as low as the passenger. Do you think the valve bock coud be going ? Are those fittings only from mb dealer or do they sell aftermarket ? What kind of scan tool can you use on the w220 to read suspension codes. Thanks for the video very informative

Could be the valve block, or maybe a case like mine where the line was leaking, use soapy water to find the leak, you can get the fittings at fcp euro or mb dealer, they should not be very expensive. Also i have a autel scan tool but many scanners can read faults, however for a suspension leak there will not be faults stored. I hope this helps.

Woow, what an awesome video and explanation, matching exactly what I'm living since I just woke up to this very situation. From very cold night to extreme cold temperature in the morning. I own a S320 gasoline year 2000 and the suspension still lifts on the side that was lowest. My question is: can you still drive the car a perform normal daily travels with it? Happy new year!

Happy new year, yes you still can however if you let it be like that for a while it could burn the compressor

Hey buddy, the e350 is from the bottom, you have to put the car on the ramps and the air lines go on the sides of the bags

Thanks for the video. I had a few questions. What exactly would you do to the lines in that case? Put in a new fitting? Should you check the entire span of the line as well (and if so how would you do that?)

No need to check the whole line, in this case you need to replace the fitting in the front and that will fix it. If the line is still leaking and its not on each fitting then you need to replace the whole line.

I have a 2006 E350 and the passenger side air spring is leaking, after the mechanic leave the car 40 days in the same positions that wheel in a bump. I'd like to know how can I lowering all 4 corners and no damage the air springs? Thank you so much! I love Mercedes By the way, I wish I could to know everything about this wonderful Brand.

It is not good for the springs to be low, i would recommend you replace the bad side as soon as possibly to not damage any other springs

The proccess should be similar to this, thats how to look for leaks.

Great video!!!! I have X164 2009 GL450 Base, I replaced valve block and compressor, issue still exists: front suspension is dropping! Checked for leaks on front struts, nothing, changed valve block, compressor works but it still drops after few hours. Sensor are good, diagnosed them. I wondering if newer valve block is bad or line has crack on them. I am going to but Arnott valve block, but I am hopefull that problem is going go away. Do you have any suggestions?

I would run a new line loosly to the side that goes down and see if it drops again, if it does then its not a line issue, did a few at the dealer with cracked lines.

I love the video very detailed 👍 I have question, I have a 2006 cls500 Benz and my front passenger side is slammed to the ground and rear passenger is slightly lower than my driver side. So if you look at my vehicle from the front it looks uneven, the passenger side is slammed to the ground. What it could be please help.

Thank you for watching, on mike its the line and fitting that is leaking, no need to replace the whole block, but if the whole block is leaking then yes have that replaced.

Mine looks like it's on bags at nite not every night but some I just press the "go up", Button ✅ at nite let it lift up and it usually stays.

That was so helpful but tell me you cut the probe air in the front and join it again then U tight it again that U fix it or what ? pls answer

I have a 2005 E 500 And my rear air suspensions are staying up as long as well as the left driver front one is standing up too but my passenger side right front tire is going down and it hasn't come backup at all and I compressor keeps cycling and cycling and the right The tire is not touching the Fender anything and I can still drive it but I don't drive it too fast cause I don't wantit to go bottom all the way out I was wondering if it's a if it's ever gonna bottom all the way out ?? I sprayed soapy water all over the shark airshow but nothing's leaking out no bubbles I was trying to find that thing where all the white air hoses are connected to and I don't know where it's at I really want to forget why I can't get the right front side to go up??

May be a bad strut

I have an issue on my 01 S430 Airmatic where the rear right strut sits lower than rear left. Fronts look fine level wise, and rear left is fine. Rear right will not go up no matter what and it's driving me insane. I didn't think it is a leak because it would go down all the way but it does not. There is only one rear level sensor and scan tool shows that it has voltage and responds to changes. Thoughts?

That could be just a calibration issue, would need a computer to calibrate ride height

You can test power and ground, you can also manually add power and ground to see if compressor works

Hello Arjeldi I whoud like to ask, i have 99 S500 and my airmatic has been repaired couple of times since i have it, compresor, relay and wirening. Right now however the car was chcek, mechanic still dont know exactly what coud be the problem with it. Problem is that the car when is up, it wont go down and the back is higger than the front. i thouth that it coud be the sensor whitch is in the back, i chcek the front Level Sensor Ride Height, left and right one just in case to see if they are not broken or droped and they seem to be good, however few months ago airmatic was working and hlondig car at the same level good before this problem that iam having right now, so i dont think it coud be the issue, with those sensors. Iam not sure about the back one so if you have any infomation let me know please. About to problem that i have rn, when i got my car back one week ago compresor was working, i coud hear it when i press the buttnon for car to rise, and it rises. Then if i wanted it to go to the previous level it goes down. Right now i cant hear compresor and car is basicly higger. the back is more up and front slighlty lower. yestrday when i drove it the front was more down, i watned to pull the car over back home, when i stop in the store and as i was going to park it, i tryied to higgher it up as i was going to shut the engine down, and compresor sudennly starts pumping air into the suspenison air. As i tryied today lower it nothing happend, and also i cannot hear compresor anymore when i press it to go up. Ive seen one video when guy is showing that in compresor the valve assembly was blocek, from dirt and so, and that caused him the problem that car was not going down. Do you think that coud be the case or coud it be something else? because in his case he coud hear compresor and i cant. If someone coud know the might answer for this problem or has experience please let me know. Thank you.

Usually sounds like a valve block issue, another thing would be to get the car calibrated, any time you do that type of work the level needs to be calibrated otherwise you may have issue like that

Question. Can u damage the struts by just lifting the front of the vehicle to change tires? Someone came to my shop accusing me of 3,500 of damage for simply just lifting the car only a few inches off the ground. Come to realize he’s had a history of suspension problems and just putting the blame on me. It’s a 2014 cls550 4matic

Absolutely not, you did nothing wrong, the cars are meant to be lifted. It was likely a pre existing issue that gave out once it was lifted

I have a 2005 mercedes benz S430. I have changed the right front air strut,it was bad,I replaced it with a new air strut and it's still not all the way up and also the rear right is low. When the rear right is low,it makes the other left side rear low

Hey my friend. Does it go low after sitting overnight or after a few hours? Does it go up after starting? Also check if both sides go down or one. Also you may need to use soapy water to check for leaks.

@brakeboss thank you for the quick response. So it is a little complicated. It what I have noticed when it is hot it sits low, but when the weather is cool its most of the time sit up. I don't know it that makes sense. But this year has been a headache I am thinking of replacing all the suspension, but I am not sure it that's even the problem. Sorry to answer your questions. The air ride comes on or off on its own when it wants too. But when it is hot it mostly doesn't work

my s500 is doing the same exact thing . What did you have to replace to resolve the issue ??

I cut the front of my air line, attached it back and it has not leaked since

Then i just tried now and the car wonr start, i high pressure washed the engine this afternoon and spent the whole day driving it. I noticed front center console line of buttons, the screen, not working. Whats my issue here? Do i have to knock the starter first before turning key?

Replace the fitting and check the line, i had to cut just a little bit of the line at the fitting and it has not been leaking
