Air Conditioner Making Loud Buzzing Noise and Not Cooling in Olathe

Is your air conditioner making a buzzing or humming noise, but the outdoor fan is not spinning? Here are a couple of things you can check to get your air conditioner cooling again.
If your air conditioner is making a strange buzzing noise, first check to see if there is power to the unit. Check your breaker box to make sure the air conditioner has not tripped a breaker. If you see a breaker out of uniform from the others, that may be the tripped breaker. Turn it off then turn it on again to see if that gets the ac cooling again. Warning: if an air conditioner trips a breaker, it is likely to do it again. You'll probably want a professional to come check it out.
If your air conditioner is buzzing, but the fan is not spinning, you may have a condenser fan motor failure or a capacitor failure. Either way, we would recommend a professional inspecting your hvac equipment and making these repairs.

How often do you have to go into the attic to work on the air handler?

Hi! Something in a neighbor's backyard is buzzing 3 times, every 3 minutes and 15 seconds. All day and every day. Any ideas would be VERY appreciated.

A tree fell next door and there is now a partial outage in my house. No breakers flipped, but I'm particular areas there is still no power and my outside AC unit buzzes. I'm hoping it's only partial power and when the wires are fixed it will run again. What do you think it likely is? It's a new unit...

If there is no power to the unit there is nothing that would cause the hum or buzz. It is likely a compressor locking up.

Wrong. The control circuit is still active in the outdoor unit and energizes the contactor, even if there’s no power to the outside unit.

    Could be a bad contactor?

@jassirargueta I researched with 2 opinions from 2 different contractors. Both mentioned the sound is normal as long as the compressor pumps freon...
