Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I test some mica powders for air brushing. A cheap way to get a lot of colors.

I’ve seen a video where they (I think) combined mica with super fine silver flakes and it is it’s own base coat over primer. Supposedly

I just bought 63 colors for like $30. I tried using Future/Pledge as a base and was disappointed. So, here I am on the web looking for a more appropriate carrier. Thanks for making this video.

Another thing to use, for waterbased applications, are glazing mediums. Remember to make a soupy slurry with distilled water or lacquer thinner (depending on what carrier you use) , before adding the medium or clear to the powder. It helps in dispersal and prevents clumping.

Tim, the base coat is matt black with these metallic pigment colours your using and I have noticed others use a similar black base, do they only work with black? Your ratio for thinner and lacquer 50%/50%? Great video mate!

Update Tim, tried the mica powder yesterday and had the same results, the laquer and thinner covered better, however the acrylic clear and water did turn out well, just needed more coats and much safe to use!

You can try using other colors. I fine black to work best most of the time. You should experiment with different colors. Sometimes the results can be quit different. You can get lighter shades or sometimes a completely different color.

Hey Tim, what is your recommendation if the powder sink too quickly and settle on the bottom with the clear coat and thinner? Thank you!

I've never had this problem. It sounds like the powder and clear coat don't like each other. You must use an enamel or lacquer. I don't think an acrylic would work. I use Testors glosscote top coat. Hope this helps.

This might be late and just came across your channel but how do you recommend cleaning the powder out after you finished the spraying? Can you flush the unmixed powder out with water or do you need to clean it with LT before water? Thank you!

Non mixed powder should clean up with hot water. Anything that has been mixed will have to be cleaned with a cleaner suitable for the clear coat you are using. Like a thinner or acetone.

Bless! You are awesome! Thank you for this for sure!! It’s a shame that the thinner dried out pretty quickly and the powder sunk

do you think you can use the same principle for glow in the dark pigments
