Watch the official lyric video for Midnight Rider: • Gregg Allman - Midnigh...
Gregg Allman is undoubtedly among rock and roll’s greatest and most influential artists, his soul-fired and still utterly distinctive voice one of the defining sounds in all of American music. From his founding role in the one and only Allman Brothers Band to his long and storied solo career, Allman has proven himself an iconic singer/songwriter and exceptional practitioner of the American blues tradition. Allman has also accrued a remarkable list of honors over his five decade career, including the ABB’s 1995 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards as well as his own 2006 induction to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. Gregg’s masterful debut solo album Laid Back has been remastered for release as an expanded two-disc deluxe edition and reissue on vinyl. The deluxe edition of Laid Back features more that two dozen bonus tracks of rarities including unreleased demos, outtakes, alternates and new mixes. Also, the long-out-of-print live album, The Gregg Allman Tour has been reissued on vinyl for the first time in over three decades.

This is where southern rock was invented . RIP
I think Greg Allman is the best white blues singer there was and ever will be
I always thought Gregg was the best looking man I ever saw.
He had a signature voice and was always a class act. Hard to believe I saw the original Allman Brothers in 1970 for like $6.00.

Yeah, at the Nassau Coliseum for me. Sadly, they are so 'out of it' in those days that the concert was really poor - no soul like later years...but, we've all got our demons.

Back then you could see 3 bands for less than $6. For example I saw ZZ Top, Earth Wind and Fire and Uriah Heep all on the same show that lasted for 4-5 hours.

Well he did rat out the roadie who saved his life during an od so he wouldn’t go to prison. The band broke up for a while because of that.

Summer without the Allman Brothers is sad to me .
I love 💕 Greg Allman and his brothers. Crying 😭 on this wonderful song with such a lovely message for all of us. This entire country and world needs to look into the mirror and make some hard changes to stop this neverending violence and selfish apathy.
Like the man says "ain't wasting time no more " So very sorry he's gone.I still need his music and mostly the wonderful rough voice. RIP Gre
Its almost as if everyone playing on this night knew how precious this moment was and as a result brought their best..
7 years. Shine on forever! 💙
We were so lucky to have this man's voice and music in our lives. What a talent.
That man could deliver a blues song so effortlessly and with such power 🙏

He got labled as a rock singer...but really his heart and souln was blues. I followed him so closely and just really have gotten interested in the man all he was was a voice to me up till a couple of years ago actually shortly before he died. But that man is the reason that I am a solid Blues fan today in fact I really don't want to listen to anything else and I like a lot of different branches of the Blues. But really I still love the old school stuff yes BB's the king and Muddy Waters and and and Otis and T-Bone and listen who can forget my girl Etta oh my God what a performance! And there was no more soulful blues singer then my man Gregg Allman one of my best friends that I never got to meet unfortunately rest in peace God loves the blues too

Well that’s the thing man people don’t understand is he may have been commercially in rock ‘n’ roll but his heart was blues Gregg Allman was a blue singer from day one and a blues lover and what I love about him he there was not a prejudice bone in this man’s body I’m talking back in the 1960s you know they made no excuses had a black drummer is in would not do business with the place we didn’t wanna let him in course his best friend was black

He was so gifted with a southern voice to the blues study group. Send no more.
I don't know why I've been thinking about Gregory a lot the last two or three weeks his voice haunts me daily from the grave. Man nobody has a blues voice like this guy he put his heart and soul out there for the world to see his shy personality gives a glimpse of itself but his heart on full display . I guess I've been thinking about him so much because of my own health problems it's becoming obvious I won't live to an average age I think about those things a lot these days brother Greg will continue to keep me company until I close my eyes for the last time

Gregg Allman looks like Willie Nelson's guardian angel.
Greg buddy, we have never passed paths in the physical world but in the universe of our souls, the connection thrives. You made a difference, was it worth it? Damn straight!
It just doesn't get anymore Southern-fried than Gregg Allman
Only the best played with Gregg Allman.
I was lucky enough to see Gregg in Dallas in the 80’s . Man, what a show.
We still love you Greg I pray to see you on the other side
Gregg Allman IS the original outlaw rock star.
Got to hand it to Gregg. He would take his many great songs and put a new spin on em. I don't know how many versions of Midnight Rider he did but every one of em were great in my book. IMO ABB is still the best there ever was !!

I loved Gregg Allman...what a voice
no voice like this ever again rip gregg
People may not agree with my thoughts on this, but I believe Gregg's last two albums were a labor of love and a way to say good bye. I'm so thankful I was born in a era of GREAT music performed by Great musicians......
GREG SANG WITH FEELING AND SOUL, THIS BAND IS AMAZING, NICE TAKE ON A CLASSIC ALLMAN BROTHERS SONG. THIS IS MUSIC,JUST LIKE IT WAS BACK IN THE DAYS.😎🎸🔊🎶🎼☮️ BOB.
God, I we miss him. Recently lost our sis to the very same ailment. Missing everyone tonight.
I was turned on to the Allman Brothers around 1969 or 70. Some friends of mine were really into the blues. I've been a fan since then.
Great band! Love the guitar player; his solo was amazingly tasteful.
Everyone shines here 🍑 God bless them all. Rest easy, Gregg. The move shines here ☀️
the guitar player is off the hook good :) tough shoes to fill, greg alm,ans guitarist, but this was excellant
That sax solo blew my damn hair back!
Only saw him once at Ramblin Man Fair at Maidstone UK. It was basically this band ans was 3 days after his mother died. He was majestic and magnificent...like on a different planet. I will always remember it
Rest In Peace... Duane, Berry, Butch, and Greg....

I wonder if instead of soda and popcorn you use "other stuff", since its the damn Allman Brothers". Love that someone has this on disc. Rock n roll
From when this song came out I was a baby & that's near 51yrs on his vocals, & he absolutely tears this song up!
Perhaps Gregg's best composition. Love this song.
We've only just begun !
Wrote this song and played guitar during Brother Duanes Wake,,Funeral
I appreciate his music now more than ever knowing what a great musician he was and the heartaches they went through. Perserved sorry to have lost this soulful man. Can't get enough of him takes me back to the 70's when I was 17 and Eat a Peach turned us on to southern rock.
That guitar solo was more clean than god and more insane than the devil!
Saw them for the 1st time back in 1974 at the Miami Orange Bowl.
The brother killed that saxophone solo. DG🎉
I saw him April 1, 2016 at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, PA. So glad I flew up there from FLA, as he wasn't looking well and then passed in 2017. I have seen about 200 RnR shows since 1960, and his was the last I saw and the favorite!!!!
The Road Goes On Forever!! 🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑
Scott' Sharrads solo is as good as it gets...I play it over and over..It takes me to the stratosphere ..Wherever that is, I'm there..LOL..Peace out..✌🌍🚀🍄
Have been in LUV with this man since I wuz 10,been a fan just as long,God rest that gorgeous soul,He Was A Badass Legend n Master at his craft..Luv u Gregg
So happy I was able to see him live a couple times , Absolutely amazing ...
One of my top favorite songs of all time. Thank you Gregg, more than I could ever explain. Thank you. 💙💔
Perhaps my all time favorite band. I honestly can say that the Allman Brothers Band never did a single song that Ole Dwighty Boy did not like. But this is one of my favorites. Enjoy my friends and sweet dreams. 💤😴💤😴
Excellent version with the sax and guitar solos. RIP Gregg, we miss you!!
Greg and Duane for the rest of my life, probably be about 2042 if I'm lucky.

Iconic!!! Timeless and beautiful... Great talent ALL around!
You got to be big league talent to get on stage with Greg Allman.
That guy on the Sax is from a different planet.
I have wonderful memories of so many Amazing Allman Bros concerts from the 80’s all the way to the 2000’s. I saw Greg and his band at a small club in Toledo Ohio in early 2000’s. Robben Ford was on Guitar. It was a special night. I’m so grateful for all those times 🙏🏼. I truly miss those days. God Bless you, Gregg.
Love this lineup, Gregg said I’m gonna play guitar for once lol, miss you brother 😭

My favorite song. It doesn't always happen now when I listen to Gregg, but tonight it did. The memory of uncontrollably sobbing upon hearing of his death, on a public bus. Goodness I miss his beautiful voice

I swear Scott looks like he could be a descendant of banjo player "String bean" from the Grand Ole Opry back in the 60's! It's uncanny. RIP Gregg
I am 64 and didn't live far from Gregg in south Georgia. Fished not far from where he lived and saw a 2010ish Ford Mustang on the showroom floor he had yet to pick up at the Savannah dealership. Would love to have met him. Cool dude. Caught up in my earlier days in British rock and the impact of the Beatles, but later and still my love is with Southern rock and Gregg will be the king in my heart. God bless the man for leaving us such outstanding music. Peace
His voice was just wonderful.
Good stuff. Great backup band with gregg here! Damn, i miss that guy.
Just now today discovering this - and Scot Sherrod. Sadly, or not - I landed here from some pickup truck commercial on TV using this song....
