As a tech enthusiast, this shit is dope. As an artist, this shit is simultaneously revolutionary to what I can do, but also horrifying in how this spells the end of a LOT of people's careers. As a human I cannot help but see an enormous change. Perhaps evolution. Perhaps death.

As if it affected only artists. AI is not just a new class of products, it is a new interface and it shifts using machines from imperative (telling machines what to do) to declarative (telling machines what you want to achieve). Half the people in the service industry earn money because they know how to tell machines to do something other people don't. When machines already know how to do something and anybody can use them, whole industries will die.

If I was an artist afraid of losing my job, I'd get hip to this stuff right now. It's just going to be a tool. Albeit an exciting tool. But you will still have to have vision and drive and creativity. That can't be replicated. Good stories told well will continue to be told.

@@theconcreteshamans Sure, AI can be a tool, and it is for sure, but companies will use it (and already are using it) to replace humans, because AI is cheaper than humans. Now, if you run your own business, or help run a business (at the exec level), you'll be good for a while, but most people are employees. Doesn't matter how good they are at their job, how much experience they have ... the moment an AI can do what they can do for less money, they're going to be on the chopping block, and it's happening already. We're going to have an unemployability crisis the likes of which we've never seen before.

The less effort you apply to achieving something the less you enjoy things. Putting effort into something gives you a sense of accomplishment and joy. Having all this stuff readily available destroys the sense of wonder. AI will take all this away, what makes you human will be gone. To me it's the late 80s until mid 90s where I feel we had the right balance between technology and society. I miss those times. I know most are exciting about AI, not me. Then again, I'm just an old nostalgic fool, what do I know.

You could use the transparent tablets/laptops in any confined space where visibility is a premium, space, submarines, inside cave/mines/tanks, maintenance inside large aircraft/ships. But those are probably just edge cases. Where these transparent screens are going to shine is in vehicles. Moving the dashboard up into view, showing maps on the screen, rendering night/infrared/UV vison, that sort of thing.

Transparent screens are already used for the heads-up display (HUD) of vehicles, although some of them are implemented by bouncing external lasers off a surface rather than a screen like this. It could definitely replace those bulkier systems if they can get the brightness up. (Many conventional laptops become useless if the sun is reflecting off the screen.)

First, a transparent screen can turn your laptop into an augmented reality glasses Second, if you combine two or more transparent screens separatee among them, you can get a realistic 3D image. If you want privacy, they only need to add an opaque extra cover.

I'm thinking mobile sales or advisors. I know much of this is becoming virtual, but when a physical presence is valuable not having the laptop as a "barrier" between you and your client would be a good option to have. Also, if the video could be easily and quickly toggled from front to read facing, to allow clients to check what you've been entering in real time, that would also be great imo.

So my first instict is that clear displays will eventually allow for spatial computing without needing vr googles. Combine eye tracking and a clear display and you could basically generate 3D holograms in the room behind the screen. And with advanced hand tracking you'd eventually be able to interact with it like you're Tony Stark putting together the concept for a new Ironman suit.

Use case for a transparant monitor on a laptop, -augmented reality For example a warehouse manager -making inventory checks -and being able to see the inventory (through the monitor) and on the monitor -its associated data tags, etc. The transparant monitor, technology could likely be stacked - thus a stacking multiples into a block (or other geometric shape). And in that block be used to create true 3d geometry, comparable to hologram. Headup displays for windscreens

Okay, EMO is *crazy.* I never thought that level of quality and realistic movements would be achieved so soon -- especially with a full song and music driving it! It's not perfect yet, obviously, but oh my dear Dante it's *miles* above D-ID, Wav2Lip, or any other existing model I've seen. If it goes public before Suno Chirp releases a public API, I will 100% be using it for my Synthia Nova framework, so she can sing her own songs on camera instead of just lyric videos. (I already have an SDXL image of her and have been messing with the Instant-ID ControlNet to make her a consistent character across generaitons. The plan was to use D-ID when the Chirp API was ready, just for a KZread channel intro video, but EMO opens up so many more possibilities! Like... fully autonomous "pick an outfit and setting for this music video, generate an Instant-ID SDXL image of yourself with those settings, then combine it with the Chirp song you wrote and generated yourself to make a video of you singing it... then upload it.")

Yes I want a clear laptop and Mac screen for work so I can see past my screen without having to stand up or peak around! I would want to be able to turn it on and off.

If the transparent screen were placed in the center of two conference tables both side could see the display. Pictures not text. Or a round conference table with a global display which rotates would be better for global interests like the weather.

The laptop with tranparent monitor, is good for client talks and display of products in a dual conversation, and easy to handle since it is a laptop, and also for maybe 3D with deep range, like if it was an object floating, I guess. But yeah looks amazing, but not many use cases...

A transparent monitor allows for presenting info to nearby small groups, especially if it can act as a double sided screen or have options to flip the desktop

You kinda answered your own question about the use-case of transparent monitors would be: privacy, or more specifically, places where people aren't supposed to have privacy, such as workplaces and schools. I can easily see workplaces and schools getting transparent laptops so that employees/students can't be doing stuff on their computers that they're not "supposed" to be doing.

I'm a backend developer for more than 10 years now. I am not afraid of the AI revolution, not because it cannot replace me, but because in these years I had to continuously learn, so I am confident that if we continue to learn, we can adapt to any of the new things that are being released.

Do you take as an axiom that humans can always learn faster than technology can advance? You might want to reexamine that belief. AI will soon be able to replace the jobs of AI developers. At that point, humans won't be needed for anything. We won't just be jobless. We'll be exterminated or left to wither and die.

There was tech available over a decade ago which could create an approximation of a persons face based on their voice and also create an apptoximation of a voice based on video of facial movements. This feels like it is somehow based on that... But the process is automated.

Transparent and floating holograms are cool and soft gimmicky, and must be evaluated for comfort and convenience. It is nifty to have in briefing situations among people with non compatible tech out in the field, like in instructing local people during a crisis situation on the move when visual aid is appreciated, showing a map to your squad in a helicopter just flipping the screen, without flipping the device.

Transparent screens will turn into wearable glasses with in built displays in the lenses. Eventually, in contact lenses. It's all a tech display until they can develop it far enough to be compact enough for small glases/contact lenses.
