This gave me a completely new view on near-infinite timelines, the illusion of free will, and not knowing which one we're in. It's almost like time is a track that is running that wave function from the big bang all the way to the present moment. We are riding a sled on that wave and we are only observing the one on this timeline, as it unfolds to us.

This was a one hour workshop on how "We'll never figure this out but give us money to talk about it."

Yes I agree too that trying to pull ourselves out of all the disbelief about free will and so on is very hard, even for example how we have to wear clothes in front of others is a ritual, and only when you grow up later you can more likely know and know how to break away easier from these ridiculous rituals. Not that, we don't need clothes to keep warm and so on, but I mean for when would actually not hurt anything. It takes strong brains to get over things like that. Also last but not least, you seem like a strong minded person, good job!

Great video !! That's a very interesting finding presented. BTW I would rephrase it like we feel (being machines) like we have inputs and make decisions, being machines, and so most just feel that and think they are magical and have free will. They are mixing it up... Also I would say I see the world as a machine itself, and I realized I am just a part of the machine collective, and have no control - but at the same time I know I do have a part and I try to do as good as I can do to help the AI field. I know it's impossible I can do anything further but I just mean I know I can contribute and know I can try hard, and I think that's where most other people would mix it up the wrong way yet again and think "oh, ya, I can solve AGI mostly by myself, if I try harder!!!", and so on.

Frame of mind is funny because there a lot of people in the AI field that view the problem thru the lens of "it's a math problem" or "it's a physics problem." Then it becomes a reductionist explenation for what must be going on, and an assumption that this low-fidelity "understanding" scales back into what we actually observe.

AGI is tough enough as a topic, but the long QM side mission that abruptly ends with 'and that is why free will can't exist' feels like... well it makes me think he has no real framework for understanding AGI. Giving the middle finger and yelling "reductionist a-hole" isn't really helpful, but the effort required to untangle this ball of Christmas lights just isn't worth it given how few will ever read it, and that even fewer might agree. Stuff that happens at the quantum level might be strange, but the physical world seems to get along just fine using a rough approximation. To suggest that some people will find themselves on the side of a mountain wearing a wing suit while others won't, based not on all the little events in their life, but on some quasi-deterministic path that someone was destined to be on, and by chance it was person 'x' is dumb.

There is no free will.. IN PHYSICS. There is no free will... IN MATHEMATICS. These are "clockwork" systems. Given a starting point, and an equation, the output can be found.

Science stuck in its own construct once again.
