Chatgpt is incredible in many ways. But it has a lot more to develop. Especially the UI structure. Read up that only 1 in 5 Americans really found it useful. Reason being - not easy to get the results you want due to the steep training curve of prompting the machine into doing exactly what you want it to do.

My theory is that AI is actually going to make us more human and save the Internet in 2 years or so, because the whole thing is gonna implode and people will start wanting more raw, real, human content on the Internet. This vlog was soulless, but the scene with Candice was pure gold :D

It won't go away or implode, but governments will start regulating it soon which will halt development. Italy already banned the use of most consumer models, and more countries are looking into ways of making the market more safe. You use AI daily without being aware of it, and it probably improves your daily routine in many ways, but what really scares most people is the aspect of autonomy, when in fact, these current models are little more than highly complex excel sheets.

What I learned in watching Casey for the past 3 years is that his storytelling was his way of self expression and this entails that human touch which made it so authentic and to see AI try to do a story left a huge hole in the human touch part of Casey's videos, AI may be good at a lot of things but it can't replicate the human touch in art and in this context, storytelling.

I do not think that it will take 20 years tbh.

I think Casey kind of perfectly described it, I always hated the idea of ai art but struggled to really reason “why” it doesn’t have a soul. Obviously you can feel it. But he put it perfectly, even if an ai creates a perfect exact same result as a human created. The human went through pain, went through happiness, struggled, worked so hard, improved, doubted themself, was influenced, was inspired. And because of all of those decisions they’ve made, experiences had, emotions felt, life lived. All of the accumulatively has led them to this moment of creating a piece of art. That matters to them, that is special to them, and really, is a piece of them painted on across a canvas. Even if an ai can replicate the exact result. Make the exact same painting, movie, sculpture, it didn’t go through all that. There’s no persona, no emotions, no life lived, and as he said, no soul. And that’s what’s most special to me. I just didn’t know how much the “soul” meant to me in art before there was art without it.

Agree, he’s only down talking it because he’s either painfully unaware of how much of a generic formula his videos all have or he’s genuinely just that up his own ass (to put it lightly)

I was hoping it would end right after the AI was done for comedic effect. LOL. Thanks for another vlog and great second half humanization of the video.

This entire video was just hilarious to me. The awkwardness of reading the script doing the shot for shot takes, the one human feeling part of the stare and laugh.

Nailed it. To be honest I can't imagine that it will ever get good enough to the point of telling a truly impactful and meaningful story. I just can't see how it can if it's trained on all stories. If so, who's qualifying what a good story is? Everyone has a different view so it's just this homogenized storyteller. That being said, I have been using GPT4 as one of my main tools for storytelling now and it definitely will get better. To your point in the end about prompts, I have spent time making seriously complex and dense prompts and have gotten good at it, and it still can't really tell a meaningful story I never expected it to. It's just a tool. I use it as a brainstormer, a collaborator, and a critic. I've always known I have to be the one to apply the meaning and impact to the story. I think of it like I'm the curator and the glue. I take all the disparate pieces and make something meaningful from it. In this context it's really no different than any other tool, this one just expedites your process.

I like you guys' points, and I do think there is confirmation bias. However, to be fair, I think that's exactly what you would ultimately want and expect from AI, give it a simple prompt/task, get a comprehensive result delivered. The constant back and forth, and adjusted promting is reality, but not what you would envision approaching it with a blank slate, that is, without prior experience. :P

​​@@ameladj66 What you just described is the creative process. These generative models are not "creative" (not yet, at least), so it makes sense that they don't fundamentally change the process. But there is mind-blowing value in an AI tool with the knowledge of the entire Internet that can help you analyze data, organize/structure materials, evaluate results, reason through ideas, edit texts, etc. The possibilities are endless. It's certainly not perfect. We still need to provide context, but when we do these tools are incredibly powerful. This will be the new way people interact with the Internet.

This was a fascinating experiment that showed the limitations of AI when it comes to human storytelling. Lack of humanity and soul in the AI-generated script reminded us of the importance of authentic human storytelling in content creation.

he asked for a boring video, and got a boring video. he might as well ask it for a video about the struggles and fears people have in manhattan.. an emotional video that speaks to other struggeling people and eventually gives them inspiration and hope.. i think chatgpt would have no problem to come up with something good for that. but he asked "a day in new york" and thats what he got.

@PleaseDontSue if you are looking someone like that, internet is full of "creators" like that. Go enoy yourself. I rather wait a month and get 5 minutes of greatness that no one can copy. And at the end of the day, being mad at someone for not giving you a video every day while you dont pay s..t for him to actually do that, is idiotic to say the least. But as I said, a lot of people that are giving you what you want. To bad that their content is on a level of AI, but that's obviously what you like so do you boo boo.

We tried something similar back in January by asking AI to plan our day ... while living it. It definitely has potential as support for travel vloggers and travelers in general. We had some fun filming it!

Safe to say Ai cant beat the creativity and execution what Casey puts in his vlogs

Casey !!!! This is actually your best video. It shows how the bland our world would be void of the actual human thought process.

No AI could ever replace the chaos and productivity that is Casey. Does anyone else wonder what Casey does everyday since he doesn't give us vlogs? I've never wondered more about anything regularly in my entire life. The man is a pillar of activity.

I made this video Idea before Casey did, on my channel! It’s still at my most recents 😂

Totally agree with you. Also, you mentioned before that you write a short script because that’s what you do. So, this was created per the style of your script writing because well, you’ve got heart and soul with creative balance. A.I. has only what you tell it. No more, no less. Working with automation has taught me, the error of an automated system is how much we as humans put in to it or not. It will fail if we allow it but.. there is never any depth. Only information. I feel this was a very powerful video with more undertones than some may think. Great job dude.

I'm a professional Photoshop editor and have noticed an increase in people requesting edits that they have created in Ai, they ask for more feeling and artistic flair...Some images are stone-cold and, to be honest, very difficult to work with. Ai is great and all, but it's a shortcut, which cuts out the soul...something that makes us, us! Great video Cas, very thought-provoking for such a short vlog.

I had some requests where the client had generated vintage images of their family, you know…made them look like old cowboy style images which they wanted putting together with other family members onto an original vintage image. It took some working out what they wanted but I ultimately declined that one as the end result would be hideous lol

as a musician, that’s how i feel about ai and the arts. you can’t take away the soul of who created it!!

@@mymixedbiscuit9159 yeah and they're likely gonna be dogshit to the point where anyone with even a decent taste in music could tell the difference. Either way, practically all chord progressions and melodies that could be made have been made already. Ai is just gonna pull from that and try to make hits. A lot of people just take common chord progressions and try to make music with them, sometimes ending up with great creativity and soul and often times ending up being bland and soulless. It won't make a dent in the music world to the capacity that ai visual art already has the visual art world. Also i apologize, as i clearly misinterpreted the intention behind your comment.

This was very interesting to see, Casey! I have been letting AI control my life and KZread channel this whole year, and it has actually helped me to make five AI-inspired vlogs so far this year! For me the key is to ask AI for an idea of what to vlog about, and then you can interact with AI during your vlog and ask for ideas and thoughts, but maybe just don't ask AI to write it word-for-word. I love watching your vlogs so this was very cool, and also you don't seem to need help with your vlogs anyways but I just wanted to share this in case you're interested : ) 🟢

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought the AI needed more input. So if he took 100 vlogs and the word content of those vlogs, provided that to AI and asked AI to use that wording of those vlogs to make and create another vlog in the style of those vlogs... would that work ?

I've done a bunch of machine learning and AI talks over the years, we have to remember one simple concept, it's just numbers and probability. The scale of things happening though, that's really interesting. You can tell the script source material reads like a "what to do" section of a travel website, the copy is flat but it's also plentiful hence those were probably the results you were getting. We're at the start of this new creative journey, whether a video producer, musician, photographer, writer etc, how these tools can help and enhance what we create. I'm facing the reality that my job as a software engineer is going to drastically change over the next 5 to 10 years, if not go altogether. Reminds me of the quote in Halt & Catch Fire, "Computers aren't the thing, they're the thing that helps you get to the thing". PS: Casey, the AI script didn't suggest "Deliver as sarcastically possible." did it? :)
