Ahmad Jamal is part of a select few that have the talent to play the "whole" piano. It's like having the capability to fly a jet, he's in control, always. There's nobody quite like him. McCoy Tyner, Lyle Mays, yeah they play the whole piano too, but Ahmad, ha...he takes Giant Steps with the left hand while he swings on the upper keys. He's a master.

Ahmad Jamal has made history once again with his unique and fresh approach to the Art of American Classical Music, as he often refers to it. He's one of a kind, a true genius and a gem of a person. He is and has always been my very favorite musician and pianist along with Phineas Newborn Jr. Ahmad is the only one I know of who has continually expanded and grown beyond everything he has gifted us with previously, constantly searching for new things to express. He is one of the most important and consistent innovators and masters of his instrument and of music. He never looks back and he is a rare and wonderful artist and person.

Just listen to Ahmad.... In, out, in, free, subtle , brilliant, and intelligent...!!

Geez this feels good! This is what puts him in my Top 5 jazz musicians of all time. He has such a sophisticated and chic approach ear for rhythm and space. Gotta love it!
