Ahmad Jamal might have the most elegant style among all jazz pianists. The beauty, sophistication, restraint, tastefulness yet power are perhaps equaled only by Bill Evans.
I really like Ahmad Jamal and the band, but not so Abd Al Maliks talking ... seems kind of pretentious to me, his laughing and the reading from his phone. Edit: I read that he has dyslexia, which means that he has problems understanding and remembering texts. And the lyrics were written by Ahmad. Also, after listening to other tracks of Abd Al, I got used to his style. Now I think different about this track, it has some different quality.
Amid all the divisiveness caused by the Rise of the extreme RW Political ascendance; astonishingly beautiful music reveals what beauty can reveal the real France where art transcends ignorance.
