Hi Emma, great news about the drawer being fixed! You did well sorting through all the hotel lotions and gel,I have family that work for an airline so you can imagine how many we accumulated over time, I donated them all, realistically we hadn’t used them in so long there seemed no point keeping them. It’s ’Inventory’ that causes a clutter, lessen the inventory and the result is less clutter. You’re getting there, how long it takes and how it’s done is a personal journey and no two are the same from what I see. I do like watching The Minimal Mom, I’ve followed her for a few years now and always find something new to try or consider. Great to see you as always.🥰🥰xx

I am now 60. I realised quite late in life that I have to do the jobs I dislike the most, the most often! Eg ironing, I don't do a week's worth, I do a day or 2 (I only iron shirts & linen). Laundry is another one. I do it almost daily & within a 24 hr period, it is put away. I find it so much easier to deal with a small amount. I am easily overwhelmed which can leave to burn out! I have been following the Fly Lady system (Zone cleaning) & taking much inspiration from Diane in Denmark, another amazing KZreadr ☺️ The key is to not to take on too much but to declutter & clean, moving round areas of your home within the period of about a month, consistently. There is emphasis on self-care & planning fun things. You're doing amazing & I'm learning loads from you 🎉

Oh Emma you never stop! You work so hard and mostly on your own + all of your jobs! With laundry like others I do it daily, yes it goes in the tumble dryer on wet days, but sometimes you need to set value of your time v cost of power. You have three laundry baskets so you can separate into the three off you and your daughter and husband can be responsible for putting their own clothes away on a daily basis. It takes a while to train them, I know what you mean about having to constantly ask for jobs to be done, but it is easier on your back, health and time to say 'take your laundry and put it away please', than to have the laundry hanging around you. My husband is great at saying 'you only had to ask!' its a man thing. Give yourself a big pat on the back you are amazing :)

Getting so much better Emma🙌 it helped me to put shoeboxes into my drawers to house similar items. So long sleeved tees, T shirts, vest tops, leggings, pj tops pj bottoms then fold kon marhri style. Also knickers, socks ,bras. I do this for my 3 kids me and hubby and it helps so much! It may seem like you won’t fit as much in but honestly you will fit more! You can the. See what you do and do t need more of and helps with the one in one out system. It “pained” 😂 me to se you shove different items in one drawer cos I used to be like that and it’s helped me SO much to see what I have and get rid of duplicates. Keep up the HARD work x

You are doing an incredible job, making your bedroom back into a peaceful sanctuary. NEVER bring clean clothes into your room unless they are going to be put away immediately. JMHO Move your business papers into the spare room--you can then declare it a % tax right off for your business.

Hint for drying your clothes. I put my wet clothed on plastic hangers. If you sink metal small pipes into the ground creating a clothesline that is structurally secure, hang the wet clothes on the hangers on the pipe to dry. Once dry, hang the clothes up in the closet. The string clothes line that is up currently, does not allow the volume of clothes to dry. If raining, I hang the clothes up on the shower curtain rod or in my laundry room.

Re max lines on machines - that’s usually top loading machines not front load. Top loading is much more prevalent in U.S.

Emma, there isn't a Max Line in our washers either, but it is advised/recommendations to keep your machine life to be longer is only filling it up half way patted all down at half point. But again all patted down at halfway point. It prolongs the life of the washer and the clothes actually wash better with the rotating motions. I have heard you mentioning a few times you have gone thru a few washers.... and i have had my 3 washers for the whole time living in each place...old washers... and it never went out by the rule of half way only

@gettingtidy2495 yes ma'am ♥️ and allowing the clothes properly rotate and clean better then stuffed or nearly full. The machine can only handle so much work, effort, weight and having to work extra harder wears down the machine much faster and your clothes don't get as throughly cleaned. 😘♥️

Part of my journey of decluttering, then selling our marital home, as well as struggling with migraines is that I listen to audiobooks and a Bible app now more than paperbooks.

I deep cleaned my bedroom today and like you I have a mattress topper as the orthopaedic mattress we were given was far too hard , Our topper needs replacing as its shedding its foam , I have some more to do in our room as I need to wipe more things down . Washing I have loads of but when it got too much I ended up taking it to the Laundrette , expensive but so worth it as there are six people living here . Tomorrow I will tackle the washing . You have worked your socks off so be proud of yourself .x

Re reading - you just have to decide to make time for yourself Emma. You talked about not reading and then almost straight after said you would sit in the car while your daughter was at rehearsal and do emails……maybe ditch the emails and read instead?
