    The AH-1Z “Viper” didn’t exist when I served in the mid-late 70’s. However, the ones at the beginning of this video are from the same squadron that I served with. HML-267 (now HMLA-267) “Anytime. Anywhere.”

    My old Ship!! LSD 52 2004-2005, Deck Div. 1. I got to drive (steer) her like I stole her during INSERV Sea Quals. Nothing like landing 53s with NVGs and darkened ship at midnight..Felt like I was gonna be damn near blown off the deck! God Bless.

    the hardest thing a Heli Pilot can do is land on a aircraft carrier when its moving, not many pilot are asked to do it, and NO autopilot can land on a aircraft carrier while moving, with that out of the way, 32 years after Blue Thunder played, helis still dont have Whisper Mode, and I bet the AH Viper doesnt have Wing Tip Blades like the EH-101 does

    Could anyone tell, what's the difference between the AH-1Z Viper and the AH-1W Super Cobra?...I mean both are based on the same design and they look more or less identical....does the Viper have more modern technology/hardware or what?

    The Viper has many upgrades and updates, primarily more powerful engines, upgraded transmission, vastly improved 4-blade composite propellor, updated targeting/aiming systemsalong with several other electronics upgrades, and ability to carry a wider variety of more modern armament. This all makes for a greatly improved and more capable attack helicopter when compared to the previous Super Cobra.

    I love this helicopter the AH1z viper it's so much better than the Apache by far but people don't recognize it first off if you look at stats the Viper has the same technology as the Apache differences that can carry twice as much weapon load because the Apache only carries the hellfire ATGMs , some hydra rockets and its 30 mm cannon but the Viper carries the Hellfire ATGM, it also carries some anti-air missiles, some additional Hydra rocket pods,and its got its standard 30 mm cannon so yeah viper is better plus I'm not too sure about this but I think it's faster .

  • @barryz.4078

    @barryz.4078

    9 жыл бұрын

    Tend to agree. as much as I love the Apache it doesn't seem as nimble & the 30mm cannon shooting seems helluva inaccurate. It think it plays a much bigger role in stealth & is not so specifically an attack helicopter.

  • @estellemelodimitchell8259

    @estellemelodimitchell8259

    The Lone Hunter The Viper use 20mm cannon and not 30mm. Weapons load for Hellfires and Hydra rockets are the same on both Viper and Apache, except for the Sidewinder missiles. Yeah, Viper has an additional wingtip hard points for the Sidewinders

    The AH-1Z was only declared combat ready in 2010, there hasn't been many public displays of it's maneuverability yet. There's a few on it's firepower. This videos enjoyable for those who want to see what the new cobra sounds like (extremely quite, more so than the apache) and just to see it finally flying
