the executioner who cut his rope was in on it from the begining, if you watch the Mv again, you´ll notice that in the market the butcher at 1:56 and the Rebel Suga exchange a look. The bucher and the executioner are one and the same. This song is a masterpiece in storytelling with soooo many cultural and historical references that we as foreigners have no clue about. That is why I am so thankfull for all those that do research and post explanation videos. Moreover, lyrics to this song seem very simple at the first glance but carry a lot of weight. Suga, as always, very honestly exposes his mindset at the time this song was written. At the top of the world, with all the money and fame he always wanted he realises that he doesn´t particularly like this person he had become (the mad king), and he would rather keep his feet on the ground (rebel suga) That flow switch bridge is the apex of this song This one will forever be one my ulitmate favourites. Everything about it is magnificent and Yoongi has all the right in the world to call himself a genius IMHO.

Daechwita is traditional Korean military music played when the king is marching through town. For this song, it can be translated as something like "Make way, here comes the king".

If you're really interested in understanding the storyline to this MV, Bookish Theory has the best explanation I've seen. Better than the explanation by DKDKTV. This song is about the duality of Suga/Agusdt: his old self vs current self. The executioner who freed him and hands him a gun at the end is actually a commoner and the same guys you see at the beginning of the MV as the butcher. There are many other unique aspects to the lyrics and MV that the explanation video provides. I think if you plan to watch only one, the explanation video is more interesting to watch than the making of video.

In case you don’t know this is different genre of Kpop that is known as K-Hiphop/Rap which is his main specialty where he can fully express himself while staying humble as Suga of BTS. The meaning behind “Agust D” ~ It’s “Suga” spelled backwards and in reverse “D T” is short for Daegu Town which is his hometown and name of an old underground rap group that he was a part of as rapper “Gloss”. OMG MY BOY HAS COME and GONE LIKE A PRO AFTER PLACING ANTIs, HATERS and CRITICS in their place on top slaying his ARMY 👀🙀 with his hardcore swag, rapid rapping, beast mode beats & traditional tempo and visuals (PAST AGUST D vs PRESENT AGUST D) dont even get me started with the fashion. I was holding my breathe the whole time seeing him getting up from the throne walking into the palace ready to put someone in their place, bodies on the ground, 😹 Jin & Jungkook pretending to fight behind Suga, BTS members hiding in plain sight and brings a modern car into traditional korean dynasty while battling his innerself then goes into nasty slow flow rap like RM did in DDAENG. It came to the end I was literally on the edge of my seat when he was being taken what looked like he was going to get beheaded while AGUSTD is showing off his sword skills then Suga takes the gun shooting the dark side of himself like a boss 😎 I noticed he used some beats with allot of phrases that he did in their BTS comeback trailer interlude: SHADOW. When I saw the scar, I remembered how much he loves scarface and reminds me abit of scar from lion king with mortal kombat vibes. The BLACK FIGURES behind SUGA presents the fandom: ARMY, he’s basically saying goodbye to his past because he’s ready to move on to a new chapter of his life. *Daechwita is a korean form of marching music that old armies used as they marched into battle or kingly procession; his old & current self fighting for domination over his present life. During his first mixtape he makes many references on how SUGA (stage name) kills Min Yoongi which is his true identity. Now, Agust D the raw savage side kills off the king and SUGA sits down from royalty; if i’m not mistaken, last emperor of the country. The concept/theme is a traditional dynasty where the long hair is indication of wealth and Agust D shown dressed in authentic kingly garments, It was also strongly frowned upon or forbidden for anyone with scars could never be royalty but with this track & music video breaks that stereotype by having Agust D shown with a large visible vertical scar on his eye which expresses even people with scars can be royal on top of showing how powerful his presence is which reminds me of kdrama Scarlet Heart: Ryeo 4th prince where he had a scar but became king despite of it but I also remember how much Suga loves Scarface. IN SIMPLE TERMS HE IS BASICALLY FIGHTING TO TRY STAYING HUMBLE AS A TRUE GROWING ARTIST / RAPPER by confronting his past self. Almost everyone had that reaction and for anyone who doesn’t know or recoginze him, he’s Suga of BTS a globally famous male kpop group, this is his solo alter-ego which is a self-produced solo artist/rapper, if you haven’t seen his first one; Its 2016 ‘AGUSTD’ mixtape. *THE PHRASES “I born a tiger I ain’t no weak pill popper like you”, he was born to be true to his craft not stray from it 😝 ... “We so fly we so fly private jet we so fly”, he’s talking about his groupmates BTS on how swagged they are then you see him bump into Jin (In a beard? Lol) who turns for a second and jungkook accidentally walks into the fishing pole that Jin is holding & they pretend to fight ... “off with their heads”, he doesn’t mean literally cutting their heads off but more or less he’s cutting their heads off with his words. Hahahaha, you know he’s not Suga when he DISSing justin timberlake when he says “cry me a river you just got no skills”* KIDDNG #AGUSTD2 #Confrontation #Daechwita #BTS

@The Awkward Angle, because you guys don’t know the Korean word Daechwita definition is literally hard blow and striking that’s the literal meaning of the word bought the definition of what it represents is percussion and wind instruments that are played during the marching of the army as well as to announce the king when he’s walking among the common people. It is also played during foreign dignitaries and important guest that come to visit the king! Here Agust D a.k.a Suga of BTS, just playing dual personalities. First he is a common or a rebel that wants to usurp the king the one with the dark hair. Second he’s a blonde hair king who is a tyrant who cuts peoples heads off when they disagree or have problems with his authority. In the beginning you see him walking through the marketplace as a commoner and he talks and stops at a table briefly to two men those are the Butcher & the executioner. What Suga is doing here is he is making a deal with the Untouchables. The history of Korea ,back during the Josen dynasty The untouchables we’re not allowed to talk to even the common people it was forbidden but here SUGA of BTS is talking to them and making a deal say you’re the executioner I have a deal to get rid of the king if you follow me we will destroy the king together! then you see Agust D , Suga persona the one that he becomes when he is a solo rapper, he is arrogant authoritative controlling and cuts off the heads of anyone who disagrees with him. It also has to do with his dual personality as a rapper and as a performer of BTS what he has doing now is I don’t need to be that angry person that I used to be when I rap! So he is Merging his old and his new self he’s becoming one and accepting both his dark and his light he’s good and his bad! It’s the same concept as a psychological theory of Carl Jung, “map of the soul” it’s a deeper meaning if you think that every song that BTS is just a song you couldn’t be more wrong each BTS song does have some representation and meaning behind it and here this is from there Map Of The Soul : 7 album which consist of 19 songs which is written and each song represents the shadow, the ego, and the persona which is a A representation of Carl Jung’s map of the soul. But that it will be for a later time when you guys decided to go into that album. But this song Daechwita is part of the album and one of Suga ‘s Second mixtape called “ D-2”! So getting back to Suga story , He portrays the king and at the end he loses the king the old ways of how he used to look at things how he used to rap and how he has evolved as a new person! Sugar says that this song is not really a diss on anybody in particular but if they feel triggered that’s on them? Lol 😆 if you want further explanations on more details especially the Korean metaphors and the reason behind the rice chest etc. you can do to informational and explanation of videos one is by DKDK TV and one that I would choose because it’s more in depth is bookish theories. Good luck guys with your journey of BTS there’s a lot to learn and believe me all their songs have deeper meanings and Korean historical references!🙂💜👍

My favourite thing about Daechwita is that it's not just music played to announce the arrival of a King, but it's also used to rally an army. So in the song, it starts playing daechwita sounds and in comes King Agust D, but later on when the daechwita plays for the climax of the song, it show peasant Agust D who has the support of everyone bobbing their head like his Army (us)

The executioner is the butcher in the beginning scenes when August D is in the market place. You can see them trading glances at each other. They are in cahoots. Also at the market, notice two other BTS members, Jin and JK. August D bumps into Jin, who takes offense and turns around. As he turns, he hits Jungkook with the stick he's using to carry a bundle. A fight ensues between them.

I am a Korean ARMY. Daechwita is a marching music that follows the official procession of kings or officials in the Joseon Dynasty. This music video is set in the Joseon Dynasty, and the blonde Suga is the crazy king. Because he is a tyrant, there are people who died in the middle of the MV. “Gwanghae” in the early lyrics is also one of the representative tyrants of the Joseon Dynasty. The blonde Suga is the Agust D of the past, and the black haired Suga is the current Agust D. According to Suga, at the end, the black haired Suga shot the blonde Suga, but he did not know whether he was dead or not. We have to wait for the next Agust D 🥹🥹

There always a plot twist in all BTS MV, but for their solo project all the members have free will to add more their ideas into their works, Suga was the one whose asking to shoot at the huge real castle and he learn the swords dance in just 2 days for this MV. There is Jin and JK at the village seen as the cameos. Watch Suga Sword dance sketch and interview about D-2 Daechwita song at Bangtan Bomb, always interesting to know their behind the scene works. if you want more, you could react to Daechwita explained songs and lyrics by DKDKTV, you can see how much Suga brillian mind to wrote the lyrics, the tone, composed the song, learn the history and making the traditional sound more attrach for foreigner. You nice keep going fellas 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

The black hair suga is a humble person who is freinds with the public and there is a theory that he is the real king and the blond hair suga is really a bad king who kills people and step on their backs and the black hair suga want to get rebellious and kill the king so he made a deal with that person who tried to cut his head of if you go to the beginning there was that butcher who was cutting the meat so instead of killing him he freed him and gave him a gun

[1:00] You caught it ! Most reactors don't get it. The boxes contain their heads - because Mad King likes his boxes.. You'll see. Also in the real world reference the place is a historical drama set that is real copy of one of their royal palaces everything inside and out is as the original still standing palace .. the palace where Suga's great-great (some 4-5 greats in there) grandmother ruled, she is known as the Korea's Last Empress. Suga started the song form the throne that literally is his by his blood. King of rap ? At least the Emperor of my heart in this MV. (There is other old noble line that Koreans actually think would be in their throne if they ever retuned into monarchy - Min clan would not be actually in the throne.) There is actually one other of the noble family members in this video, but we come to that when we see if you pause at the accidental (?) nipslip... [1:40] others have given you the official meaning of the music style, I'm sure but one meaning of it The King is out and about wheter it is for a casual progression where he is honored as the godly Emperor, or if he is about to go to a war.. So this is Agust D marching into a thinly veiled war.. Agust D on a warpath. ;) [2:03] You did not pause at the Junkook and Jin getting into a fist fight in the background. Jin (and Tae) are part of the noble Kim Clan (different Kim clan than RM's Kim clan!). they did not know even that they are related to each other until they met in the BTS. (These clans are huge, Suga's Min clan is some 168,000 people!) Would be nice to hear what you were saying about that part.. :/ Subtitles ? You might want to lower the volume of the MV - that we fans have seen dozens of times, and can watch the video anytime again, but here we are to hear what You are saying, so it would be awesome to hear You, this time :) 💜 [2:59] did I say something about the king on a warpath ? [3:57] something-somethnig the Mad King liking his boxes? He's is just having one lats dance with them.. ;D [5:10] "This is more gansta than.." Yep! Again you caught it ! The car that just entered the scene is iconic symbol of 80's90's cusp mafia in Korea - like Tommy Gun would be 1920's mafia symbol for US mafia. (When you watch PSY's That That I'll get back to you ;D 💜) Also the Dark haired Agust D is carrying and outcast mask in his chain to significance of him (as a rapper in Korea?) being already outcast of society as much as the gansters are.. [6:30] "who is he hitting..?" Well there was several anonympus bodies lined up and even more of those beloved boxes to dance with.. Suga said that this is not a disstrack.. But that he likes to put these "traps" in his albums.. Traps that never have failed to catch.. Kinda like you settraps for cockroaches.. .. :/ .. we have thissaying in my country that goes "that dog yelps that thown stick hits." Apparently Agust D is just throwing sticks in the air and these pups are running into them to get hit and yelping, after the album came out.. ;D [6:36] There in the scroll is the CEO of Big Hit, the legendary caricature of Bang Sihyuk, drawn by Jungkook in the past, when they were playing pictionary type of a game - everybody instantly knew who it was from that picture - now about 0,7th of world's population knows who is that in the picture ;D The scroll is there with the lyrics "Bang PD dances.." [7:48] "this is the best part of the movie" It is! When Dark haired Adust D get's the king's own officials moshing with him - in the act or treason joining the Dark's rebellion, coup. the end twist and conversation of that : Agust D has a history of hinting into that.. He has a line in his first solo album "Min Yoongi is already dead (I Killed Him)" (that being his real name), as well as talking about his (hopefully former) suicidal thoughts - which are a huge tabboo in South Korea. I see this as a nod to the very same that I started my rant with.. His actual noble self. Min Yoongi, or rather then the rapper Gloss practically ran away from home - apparently against his parents wishes - possible even up to the point of getting disinherited by his father, at that point.. (Killing his literal relations to his family line and possibly being ok with that.. Loving his music more than the proper son and Min clan member images..) These days Suga has good relations with his parents which of course is what we all want for him: to be happy. 💜
