Hey guys! I just want to explain those lines from RM that might be hard to understand. It's actually a bit of mistranslation and Korean slang that I will explain: "Giving up on 3? Giving up on 5?" This is an incomplete translation. RM said "Sampo-sede? Opo-sede?" Which actually translates to "Gen Three Give-Up? Gen Five Give-up?" They are names that roughly equate to our Boomerang Generation - late Gen-X and early Millennials who had to move back home after college because they couldn't afford homes or even apartments. The 3 po-sede gave up courtship, marriage, children in order to make a living. The 5 po-sede had to give up those PLUS gainful employment and home ownership. The next line is "Well I like the number six, so how about giving up on six?" This is another mistranslation. Here it is with the important words sounded out in Korean: "Well I like yookpo, so I guess I'm a Yookpo-sede." The correct translation is "Well I like beef jerky, so I guess I'm Gen Six Give-Up?" It's a play on words - "yookpo" is beef jerky, and yookpo-sede (6 po-sede) is how you would say Gen Six Give-up because the word for six is "yook". The whole verse is aimed at Boomers, who dismiss the younger generations' hardships and call them lazy. I hope this makes sense!

@@AwkwardAngleReacts @Czhil sounds like Jill Not true. This is about the Korean expression *"n-po* *generation"* (you can find it on wikipedia): It first began as Sampo generation, and was then expanded to the 'Generation who gave up on n number of things'. Sampo Generation refers to a generation that has *given* *up* *three* things: *dating* , *marriage* , and *having* *children* , while Opo Generation has given up *five* things, *adding* *owning* *a* *home* and *having* *a* *career* to the list of things given up on by the Sampo generation. BTS and just kpop artists in general have crazy work ethic. BTS used to practice 12-16 hours a day and they are such perfectionists too. Even if they give a flawless performance they always say sorry to their fans saying they could've done better and we're like what the hell you did perfect. It's to the point sometimes where we truly worry about them being overworked because they will literally collapse backstage and need oxygen. Anytime they don't achieve their goals they will say "we'll work harder" when they really don't have to, they work hard enough. That's why I always say if people don't like BTS music that's fine, but to downplay their talent and work ethic is crazy. Throughout the whole pandemic they were still constantly working and putting out content. They also went around 7 years without having more than a few days off at a time. Thanks for reacting and I can't wait to see more BTS reactions.

Right? The first real break they had since debuting in 2013 was in 2019. That in itself is crazy to think about. To top of it all off they were all in school/college when then started.I remember an interview where Jimin said he used to practice till 4am and then go to school at 7am and another one where Jin texted his professor asking for an alternative way to take a test since he out of the country performing at MAMA.After working your butts off for over 16hrs, how do you even manage to care about school? Where do you even get the energy? People don't realise just how f-ing hard these boys work.

They received a lot of flack for the lyrics so they stopped performing the song after awhile, but it was just the usual scandal out of nothing BTS had to face over the years, and ARMY love the song! In many ways, the lyrics of Dope are typical of the hip-hop genre, spitting on the competition and endlessly praising yourself (“I’m kinda dope!”). But if BTS are hungry for success, they have made sacrifices to get to where they are (“I worked all night, everyday, while you were out clubbing.” “Even if our youths rot away in the studio, thanks to that we’re closer to success.”). More sacrifices and more hardwork than any other Kpop idol group , because they were underdogs, coming from a small compagny, without money and without connexion, so all the industry look down on BTS, and when success come, only with their hardwork, and dedication for they fan, they try to sabotage them (but it's a story for an other day ) But the song also talk about social issue : Big Hit let the boys have control over music, express their opinions, allowed them to talk about issues that many in SK society wouldn't, like mental health, school pressure, disparity in societal classes and so on BTS said since day one they want to talk and fight for their generation. A few years back, the Korean media started labelling the younger generation as a generation who abandoned essential parts of life. The "give up generation" : Because of the tough economic state of the country and a lack of opportunity, the young generation has to work so much harder to get a job and survive. Sampo (3-po) generation, Ohpo (5-po) generation... The "given up on 3" are gave up on Dating, Marriage, Childbirth; The 5 give up generation abandonned also Human relationships, and Housing/work. They also talk about this issue in Bepsae (Silver Spoon) The last grade is 7 : gave up on dream and hope. BTS point the fact that “The media and grown-ups say we have no will, denouncing us, why are they killing us before we even try?” . This makes the great point that the very people who urge teenagers to achieve things in life are the same people holding them back. Then RM said he will give up six things, but he won't give up the seventh : Hope. So BTS tells people to stop giving up on things and never give up on hope. Hope and hardwork, :"keep your head up, take my energy, energy, energy. Don’t give up, you know you’re not lonely. Our dawn is better than our days. So can I get a little bit of hope? Wake your sleeping youth and go!" .

Ppl who discover BTS after their massive success there is a thing you don’t know about them being rejected from K-pop and mocked because they were from a small Company but this small company gave them the freedom to be themselves and collect them based on talent not appearance I’m not Korean but I’m an army for a while now so the main reason for BTS to succeed worldwide because they had to reach out to their fans through Internet because they almost been cast away from K-pop event and they never been invited to shows and even they try to sabotage them by false rumors against BTS to bring them down and this never happens before that how upset of how good bts r there were One incident it Was in 2014 there is a festival in America for kpop and they supposed to open the show there and 5 to 6 hour before it they kept saying that BTS not showing up to this event so their fans wouldn’t come so they will Bomb even with all of this they still stole the show everyone who were there said that but because of what they did to them there’s only a fan cam to it so when they succeed now K-pop Start to acknowledge them they have no choice they even including themselves in BTS success in America and the world And try to say they are the same when in reality the can’t be more different

There was also the show that wouldn’t let them perform at all after using their name to lure fans. So after the finale, when broadcast cameras were off and the stage was all dirty and covered with confetti and crap, they came out to perform for their fans because they had come to see them. No lighting, no backup dancing, no video, just fancam footage. Is that the same one or a different one? There was also when they were forced to be backup entertainment to models. This is when they were already winning awards for sheer number of listeners. They did crappy jobs like that because their company was so broke that BTS were their whole income. So whatever BTS could make paid the bills and salaries for them and everyone else. They stopped going to variety shows most idols in Korea use to build their fan base because the hosts were abusive. They admitted later to bullying them on purpose due to industry pressure. The large companies have their hand in everything, producing shows, alumni who host shows, etc. So BTS started their own variety show, RUN BTS out of necessity.

Jimin in this MV is why i love a man in uniform, i love Jimins voice and i also love his highnotes aswell but his character is the one i love, this is partly the reason Jimin is my ultimate kpop bias. I really wonder were that idea comes from because: no, he doesn't. Namjoon talks about n-po generation: It first began as Sampo generation, and was then expanded to the 'Generation who gave up on n number of things'. Sampo Generation refers to a generation that has given up three things: dating, marriage, and having children, while Opo Generation has given up five things, adding owning a home and having a career to the list of things given up on by the Sampo generation. The Chilpo generation refers to the generation who gave up seven things, adding hope/hobby and human relations to Opo generation. (wikipedia n-po generation) giving up on: 3 = dating, marriage & having children 5 = + home ownership & career 7 = + hope/hobby & human relations 6 is from the pronounciation beef jerky (it means probably that they did not give up on hope, yet)

Spring Day is known as the Queen song, it's still on the charts in Korea if I'm not mistaken. If you decide to do it know that people are incredibly attached to it because it's considered that the video makes reference to a tragedy from 2014 where almost 300 high school students died on a sinking ferry. The crew got out first and told the passengers to not move from where they were because it would make the boat move and sink faster. The outrage was so emotional and national that it led to the president being impeached. Italian army's explanation video is AMAZING, she actually went to Korea to do research and met some of the families of the victims. BRING KLEENEX and know that we're all virtually hugging you, we love seeing reactors do the song because it brings awareness 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I really enjoy going on this ride with y'all. If you ever get curious, BTS has been invited to speak at the UN (United Nations) 3 times - last time (a year ago) they also performed there. However, I really recommend watching their first speech from 2018 made by RM in English, but with the members there to support the message. It says a lot about who they are and why they mean so much to millions around the world. I have a feeling you'll find it great to watch too.

They stated FACTS in this song, they worked REALLY REALLY HARD and that is why they're where they are now. Got a lot of flack from the other music Co's in SK as they were a small Co and didn't have much clout on media and airtime. They couldn't understand how BTS began to do so well from the beginning so accused them of all sorts of dirty tricks (which incidentally they themselves were up to) and tried to prevent BTS's rise. But A.R.M.Y's were behind them 100% all the way. And that is why you guys are now beginning to realise just how great these young men are. If you're interested you could watch a series called The Rise of Bangtan. A series of videos (fan made but excellent behind the scenes from pre-debut and ongoing, including history/documentaries re K-Pop and their own vlogs etc. They give an excellent insight into their personalities and really show you their genuineness and authenticity as they speak honestly about what their thoughts/experiences are and what is going on) - it’s now at Ch 21 and also has bonus content and deleted scenes videos so advise you to start these soon if interested. kzread.info - you also get to hear and see their music from then. REALLY rec this if you want to see their organic journey and that of Army's. Also Intro videos that covers their history: Please do watch them all as they will give you a different perspective of BTS and their history, one isn't enough to get the full picture. We LOVE long video's so don't shorten or cut anything, we can and have watched others for 5 hrs, no joke! XCeleste Intro to BTS: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZd5taOLldevabg.html and BTS Hardships: kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5iNmNmnfNbLpLQ.html Asian Theory (updated 2021): kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZmyIxcGSYriWhMo.html The Most Beautiful Life Goes On: A Story of BTS Ida S: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nXuGztOypc7fYtY.html; An Intro to the 7 members of BTS (2021) Taylor Nakamoto’s Bangtan 7: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqmKwduClNvAgLw.html - I HIGHLY recommend this latest one, however I would watch the others first and leave this one for last.

Asian Theory rebranded to Rice Squad and has updated that vid Ida S. vid is a little missleading which is why I prefer the newer from Taylor Nakamoto (which BTW they already have reacted to a few weeks before this). I'll add bby gang mag's video essays as a context thing. Have you watched some of the stuff from "Asian Entertainment and Culture" channel? that is also interesting and short.

Did you know that in Korean groups there is a division into rap line and vocal line. If you want to rap, then listen to Chyper 1-4, and if you want vocals, then Magic shop, Heartbeat. Also, each of the members of BTS has solo songs. it's just a bomb)

Most of their early work was about the disparity in the educational system then out of school the whole of societal issues. Parents expect their kids to work 10 hrs a day towards a college education. Trying to get the best scores on ACT (Korean Version) to get to the best untiversities (SKY= Seoul's Top 3). Then they should get a government job because it is the best money. That way they can support their parents. But jobs the first few years expect kids to work for free or practically free making the young one lose interest in everything even living. So you will see many phrases over and over from their very first MV to even one their latest songs "Yet To Come". That it why it's so important to listen to their early work it helps build a foundation for understanding where they are coming from in their lyrics today.

Like your sincere reaction. Yeah you got it right. This is a motivational song. Their generation in Korea are put in a tough situation after the recession. Not being able to get a job they want. Therefore not getting married and having a family cause they can't earn enough. So they are called the lost generation. But BTS is calling out to their generation saying 'It's all easy to blame it on the society but have you really tried hard enough like we did to achieve your dreams?'
