    Hey, Thanks for this Video. My 9 year old son watched it and insisted we buy this game. We've really enjoyed playing as a family and just the 2 of us. We've even made our own clay carrots, wheat, logs, bricks, stones and reeds together. Thanks for sharing all your games with the world.

    Thank you! This helped me make the decision to pick up Agricola (I will work on Farmers of the Moor in the near future!). This looks like a lot of fun. I enjoy your game playthroughs and your final thoughts on them as well.

    Excellent video as usual, Richard. 1 - I really appreciate that you do these plays with the standard components. A lot of YT video reviewers use all fancy promos and pimp-out versions and they don't demonstrate what the game will really look like to initial purchasers. 2 - I don't have the expansion. Do you heat the rooms, or the people? If you have three rooms but only two people, do you have to heat three rooms or two? I love Agricola. It is still my #2 board game of all time. AH's Civilization being #1. I usually play the family game, as I find the minor improvements and occupations randomize the game too much, and I am usually teaching at least one new player each time.

    ExBruinsFan you've got to pay heating costs based on the number of rooms your house has, and the building material - family members don't factor in. the brilliant thing about this is it encourages upgrading to clay & stone earlier in the game, whereas in regular agricola, it's a standard strategy to stay wood the entire game, expand more cheaply, and then upgrade at the end

    Not that this is a huge deal, but the light brown discs are supposed to be clay and the dark brown ones are for wood!

    I like your videos - thank you for making them. I haven't watched all yet (quite a few) - but this was my second set (Agri+FoTM). Regarding lighting and shadows, have you tried a fill light to avoid the forearm shadow as you play?

    +Rahdo Great ru-through! I read that you also used to play Everquest. I played for years on the Veeshan(I think that was the name) server. I had a lv 60 Necro. It's still my most memorable video gaming experience. I forget my guild's name..Cadir Cadin or something like that.

    Now i have to play my first real Agricola game xDDD I was thinking that something is not right because when you get sheeps, and you getting every Harvest like 2-3 or even 4 young ones, you possess almost infinite amounts of food - but I thought it was quite balanced because to get kitchen and hedges you must do some serious investment (clay for kitchen, wood for fences) so you won't expand your house to fast.

    I don't think you get more than one baby no matter how many parents you have. One lamb for 2+ (or more) sheep. The same for hogs and cows.

    It might be a great idea to do another run through of the Family version of Agricola, the no-cards version. Even as a seasoned Agricola player interested in the Farmers of the Moor expansion, this seemed a little overwhelming. Explaining all the cards and everything, when some people watching might not even understand the basics, is a bit much.

    Curious, did you and Jen pick up the Revised Edition, and what are you thoughts on it compared to this version you both love? I notice that the revised edition has some different layouts that can be chosen at the beginning with different options for 2p, 3p, and 4p. Wondering if you've played it, and what setup you play with if you have. Thanks!

    Which variation of the FotM are you playing? 3 minor from the base game plus 4 from the expansion? What is your favorite or preferred setup as to occupations and minor improvements with FotM?

  • @rahdo

    @rahdo

    we do the half & half improvements as the rules suggest (though I think we do 3 from FotM and 4 from other card sets). We also play with occupations like normal :)

    Rahdo, I heard you say that you devote a good amount of time planning about the cards, but I did not get if you use some sort of drafting variant or if you just refer to thinking about the 7+7 random cards you get. Thanks

  • @rahdo

    @rahdo

    6 жыл бұрын

    we use one of the variants listed in the 1st edition of the rulebook. each player draws 10 occ's and 10 minor's, and then discards 3 of each, so we start with a more 'targeted' collection of 14 cards :)

    I'm interested in purchasing Agricola as well as Farmers of the moor. My question is there are currently 2 versions of the base game on Amazon (one from zman one from Mayfair I believe) If I get the newer Mayfair edition (at least I think it's newer) Will it be compatible with farmers of the moor? I guess as a follow up which edition of the base game would be best to purchase overall (especially if farmers works with either) The description on Amazon makes the Mayfair edition look like it has "more" to it.

    Oh man!.... I've just wanted to write here some mean comment that you don't know the rules....and i realized, that I am wrong and after 7 years I hadn't played a single Agricola game correctly xDDD I was always playing that you get single calf (or another young one) per pair of animals _______ And this is the first video with Agricola playthrough that I 've watched because I was interested to buy Farmers of the Moor expansion. Immediately after watching your video i go online to the rules and i have found out that you are correct -it was even bolded that you getting only one calf no matter how many cows you have...My mistake came from the old version of instruction (not revised Agricola), and maybe also a translation to Polish, that it wasn't stated clearly.

    Richard, would you agree the thrive/survival aspect of Agricola drastically changes at the 3 player mark. My gaming group has found that playing with 3 or less it's much easier to thrive (less stressful). We have found at 4+ players the game is much more about surviving (stressful). It seems the only way to thrive in a 4+ player game very dependent on the occupation/minor improvement which are initially dealt. I know you and Jen mostly play 2-player so I am not sure if you have experienced this. Any thoughts?

  • @rahdo

    @rahdo

    Empurity i've only ever played Agricola with more than 2 once. It was a 5p game, and I don't remember it being any more stressful that normal, but it was a LOOONG time ago and only one game, so my memory might be hazy...

    Lyrisse Castro Grube like other games the board likely are just laid out differently but have the same items on them. The brown are a on hers is the area for resources which is located I'm sure at the bottom of Richard's board. I am not entirely sure why board game designers do this but you will see this occasionally.
