Agri-Fab 52" Lawn Sweeper Use and Review

If you remember in past videos I decided to get one of the lawn sweepers to make my life a little easier, well here is the Use and Review of the Agri-Fab 52" Lawn Sweeper.
I did my research for what I needed, I have a very large lawn, with areas that are for gardening.
Some of the areas are going to be mowed without the sweeping and that's perfectly fine to help the land recover.
Putting together the Agri-Fab wasn't that difficult, the one little hiccup I encountered I was able to get fixed on my own (instructions for bolt placement)
I'm not impressed with the wheels, they seemed to be loose or cocked. I definitely will be keeping my eye on this point hoping that it doesn't fail. Now the worst part about this sweeper to me is you can't shut the brushes off, which can be a huge problem if you have a gravel drive or pathway that you have to cross over that is rocky. You will have to go as slow as possible because you will be picking up stones and debris via the sweeper. It also picked up some baling twine, make sure you do a walk about if possible to find items that can damage the sweeper.
Any of the sweepers in this price range seem to have this issue of not being able to stop rotation, that would be the one thing I would change on this or any sweepers.
(Hello product and development department )
I will say I was impressed by the speed of what took the girls a couple hours to rake by hand took me only about 20 minutes to sweep and dump into my compost bins.I found that pretty awesome.
I will recommend the sweeper and give it a thumbs up.
Thanks for watching, I hope you got something useful out of the video.
Mr Country Ken

Also wanted to say, I put it at the highest setting when going over the driveway, that stops picking up the stuff you don’t want and then when you are ready to sweep just adjust the sweeper to normal position.

Just grabbed this exact one and just like you said the wheels are definitely not true, the problem is the steel frame is on an angle but it does work great.

You have to get off and raise the sweeper brushes to the highest level, cross the gravel then lower the sweeper back to the lawn level OR you hold the bag in the open( dump) position as you go across so the sweepers don't load into the bag as you go across, only works on an empty bag. Would be nice to have a way to do it from the mower.

Not a bad idea but for me I cross one road that isn't very wide. My mower shuts off if I stand or get up off the seat. Will definitely keep your idea in mind next time I'm mowing. Thanks Mr Country Ken

@@4AMFARMS Have you tried running your mower ( if it has it) with the KEY in the reverse position, not the forward only position, put parking break on and lock. Blades off. Then get out of seat. Keeps mower running....good luck.

Great video thanks for the review. While watch your video at about 1:38 to 1:40 minutes into noitice your right wheel was dragging can you explain why it was doing this ?thanks Jason

Thanks for the comment Jason, it's the video speed that makes it look as if the wheel is dragging. You can see the sweeper is picking up the grass evenly. If the wheel was dragging it wouldn't work since the sweeper is wheel driven. MCK

Thanks for the great question, I've read where the agri-fab will pick up some rocks, pine needles, small pine cones, acorns and sweetgum balls as well as dried leaves and cut grass. I think the larger items might cause some issue for the sweeper by clogging the brushes with the debris That's just my take. Hope this helps. MCK

Im having a huge problem with grass clippings. So, does this sweep while you're mowing, or do you pass through when you're done mowing. Not really sure how to use this. Thanks in advance

Great Question. I mow and then sweep. I make sure when I am mowing that I mow with the grass being laid out close together in rows so I can sweep without sweeping the entire lawn. Since the mowing Deck is in the down position it would make it almost impossible to sweep while you mow. I hope his helps ya out. Thanks Mr Country Ken

@@robz4825 depends on what model you get, there is one that you can move the center bar off center, Left or Right to allow for mowing and sweeping at the same time. All you have to do is watch some other videos or go to their site and watch their vid's. It's really EASY.

If you are in the UK, this is NOT man enough for our grass. I have to say that I am not impressed by either the quality of manufacture of the product or the company's after sales or reaction to constructive criticism of the product! I have been through countless bolt for the sweeper brushes and 4 of the 6 brushes are now scrap. The main problem is that the product is just not able to cope with...1) our damp grass 2) any kind of undulation of the ground that may result in additional pressure on one end of the brushes compared to the other and 3) I know it sound mad but the manufacturer states that it must not be used at a greater speed than walking pace!!! I have a Kubota BX231and 3 acres to mow and pick up on, Nobody who buys a 52" sweeper (because of the area they have to cover) should be expected to only use the sweeper at walking pace!!! I now intend to cannibalise it keeping just the frame, sweeper guard and bag and build something that is man enough to do the job! For the UK and when doing large areas, you need to be spending about £1000.00 unless your lawn is perfectly flat, and you have lots of time to go very slowly and empty very regularly!

Thank you for your comment and experiences with the agri-fab sweeper. I definitely understand your frustration. We have had a lot of morning dew and high humidity here this year, which makes it very difficult to mow and sweep. We are in an area that relies on the weather to have those dry days to able to cut the pastures for haying and it just wasn't the best of conditions. Best of luck on your build, I bet that is going to be awesome. Would love to see it when your finished Mr Country Ken
