Meet "Baron" 6 years old GSD who is very territorial and aggressive towards people with a biting people history, his owners have tried everything for the last 5 years to stop his aggression, including sending him away for board and train for 3 weeks, Baron is always locked away when people come over. He will bite if given a chance.

This field, training is extremely competitive and very cutthroat and you will find that there is a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT of resentment towards, envy of,and vitriol espoused about this amazingly gifted young man here. His work, his results, his extremely satisfied clients, and his joyful contented pack of pet dogs is proof of his gifts. The 🌎 is sad sometimes. He's amazing. He shoukd be praised for it and admired.

I watch all his videos because I have such respect for his dedication and self possession in his attempt to save the lives of so many dogs that are out of control of their owners, and in danger of harming people or being euthanized themselves. It is fascinating to watch him work his magic on these dogs! I don't worry about his haters or pay them any attention.

A lot of people who are riding the force-free/positive only wave will think a leash-pop will be abuse, & being the "force-free/only positive" folk they are, will be so nasty to you, want death upon you, etc. Lol! Balanced trainers also use positive-reinforcement!

A dog will only gain trust and respect for its owner the same way they do in the wild. If a mother dog will bite her pups on the neck and growl at them and they learn exactly what she wants from them, then you know that is their language! That is how they communicate!! Therefore a similar and even less aggressive type of communication from a human to a dog will be very effective and gain their respect and trust as if YOU are their mother and provider and ALPHA. The one who provides and protects! And if anyone thinks that a dog that absolutely knows it’s owner as alpha would not step up and protect if under attack, they will put their life on the line for you!!

This made me laugh because that's exactly why I'll never get a dog. I don't have it in me to keep them in check the way this guy does. I'd probably be the Force free positive only type of person and never beable to control the dog wich is odviously very important. But I don't judge this guy at all for his method and I don't think it's abuse. Abusing animals actually makes them MORE aggressive usually so it's common sense that this is different. I respect his work and find it very interesting. I just don't have it in me to completely control any animal and I find myself feeling bad for dogs at times. I wish they could run around free and do what they want without problems but that's not possible. I'll stick with having a cat instead. My feelings are alot less complicated when it comes to them.

Out of fear, and probably-- having been in so many different unfamiliar situations-- confusion, because she is never sure what to expect. Not all, but many dogs are often very rigid in their expectations of what will happen. So if she had bad experiences as a stray, or an abused dog, she would still anticipate that. And they do want to please us. So if past owners failed to establish that connection, but punished her for not meeting their expectations, this is her idea of what humans do. So it sounds as if you are doing great, helping her to gradually form new expectations and learn to trust you.

She brought him to the gate with a retractable leash........BIG no-no. All those retractable leashes belong in the garbage. They're dangerous. They DO break and many people have been injured if they get wrapped around the persons leg or ankles and the dog takes off. A good 6 ft. nylon leash with a snap hook combined with a prong collar gives you control with large breed dogs. I saw a dog hit and killed by a car because the owner gave too much length on a retractable leash and the dog jumped in front of a car coming up behind them. No dog trainers allow retractable leashes in training.........neither did Augusto.

That’s cause he controls a dog and corrects at the right time he knows what he wants but the owners give 5,000 different commands different ways the dog is confused ……the dog is like a leader here to save my day

Purely Awesome, you've successfully brought a family back together now that the bully has been trained and is much more secure from what I see. I'm a new pup owner, he's 5 months and a Akita Shepard mix. Already huge so I am working hard to train him well. Thank you for your help

Thats why SOCIALIZATION is key. When it comes to protection breeds like GSD’s, first you socialize and right after that you train obidience and add socialization, after that comes protection and socialization should be mastered. My GSD’s look so sweet and cuddly, nice, obidient and well behaved, people respect them but the cuteness factor drives them insane, they wouldnt believe they’re trained to bite and run tactical drills with me unless I start speaking German and giving them commands. Socialization is EVERYTHING when it comes to a well balanced dog.

Because the dog is only acting in the way it thinks it should. :) In the dog's mind, the previous behavior is no longer fine, but it still feels uneasy, nervous, even scared, because it is not longer the dominating, controlling force. Augusto (Or the handler) is. So while Augusto is not pandering to the "no punishment ever" crowd, he understands that the dog is not acting up because it is being disobedient, but rather because it is confused. Positive reinforcement mixed with negative reinforcement is usually the right way to go about the situation.

Their love for this dog is wonderful. We know exactly how the dogs attitude can change your socialization as our boy, sure has. We find if we have friends sitting at the table and they ignore them when we bring him out, the dog does not feel threatened. Then they can offer treats. Things are a getting better.
