Agent Down: Murder On Highway 57

In February 2011, assassins from one of Mexico’s deadliest drug cartels ambushed two US federal agents on a covert mission. Special agent Jaime Zapata was killed. His partner Victor Avila was wounded. But Victor says his attempts to find out the truth have cost him his job - and exposed a cover-up.

At first i questioned the agent who left the window open allowing the shooting of his partner, but watching the whole story I feel that the 2 agents were desk jockies or agents who didnt really have hands on field experience, the real conclusion was the several depts and agencies being found out. Corruption at its highest levels. Great to see people coming out and trying to show everyone the disgraceful acts of these orgs we have trust in. so sad for the families of the lost agents. BTW, how did the joint task force so easily locate and let alone identify the sicario involved... that blows my mind.

Which means they are rife with corruption.. it’s sad that little can be done due to the vast protection of these 3 letter organizations.. it’s not supposed to be like this. When something goes wrong we should know about it or congress should at least and have a full report on what happens so they can show accountability in these organizations and have more trust by the people! To me the "fast and furious" case and the brothers that bought the guns have little bearing on the issue of assault of the agents. That is a whole different and disgusting tale of federal ineptitude and criminal activity. If the gun hadn't come from the brothers it would have come from somewhere else. The issue is why the hell were they asked to drive through such a hot zone with no adequate safety measures. This doc kinda turns the focus away from the fools who sent them on that errand.

Very odd circumstances here with Victor Avila lowering the window on a bulletproof vehicle when weapons were visible and he gets shot with none lethal injuries, yet his partner is shot several times. Makes very little sense why a cartel hit squad would leave a witness alive. The incident has a"fishy" smell. Zapata was clearly the target. A pistol and the muzzle of an AK-47 were put through the window. It would have been almost too easy to have put several rounds into Avila as well. Very strange>

Its always the poor minorities that are targetted especially by drug squad, some of them lining their pockets with confiscatfed cash and a mate had cash taken in London on a raid but his partner put in a complaint against 5 of his so called fine young officers Theyre often brutal and ive been punched in the stomach and grabbed round the throat despite not being guilty of anything and they can be real a holes.

It’s weird how they even stopped to begin with and then 1 of the main guys named as the head assassin was Zappata just like the dead Agent Zappata. Definitely goes deeper than we even think. They were both clearly set up by their bosses. That’s obviously really F’d up. They did something to be set up though. He was only there for 24hr. before being sent on this suicide mission.

Some may want to criticize the actions of these two agents, one commented on opening the window to armed killers. I will say they were in an armored vehicle and I can only assume he opened the window so they can hear the agent say they were Americans. But of course that is in hindsight and no one can say they would of done different unless they were right there with them. Sadly this is a typical government cover up, but in this case two families destroyed. Those two agents served their country unconditionally and one of them paid the ultimate price for the mistakes of others. I commend Victor Avila, despite the obstacles, he never gave up to find the truth. I pray that one day the Zapata and Avila families get the justice they deserve.
