In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny home living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off-the-grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition and Interior Shell complete, we turned it into our Tiny Home on Wheels and are now traveling!

    Not a good idea to cool brake drums or components with water. It can cause the drums to crack and you will be in a bigger issue. Drive without using brakes for some time to let them cool by natural air flow is better. Downshifting for sure is a good learning to reduce brake usage. I had that happen coming back from Incline Village in my Class A and decided I needed a coffee at McDs and didnt tell my family about the issue until our trip was complete. I did then upgrade the brake fluid to Type 4 as the Type 3 had boiled and was not suitable for reuse. That issue did not happen again.

    I just watched this again and feel happy knowing that the two of you are discussing the ups and downs of bus life. I believe you’ll find a truly rich lifestyle where you’ll grow more and more comfortable and less and less stressed. You’ll be singing along with Willie, “On the road again. Just can’t wait to get on the road again.”

    DIY, saved you in the neighborhood of $70,000. Soooo, worth it.! Have you heard of the US Core of engineers? They are responsible for 1,000's of beautiful campgrounds. Most cater to dry camping. And most are atleast 1/2 the price of a resort, or less.

    I am in Chehalis!!! I love Washington. If you are still in the area and want to go on a beautiful trail either on foot or by bicycle, check out the Willapa Hills Trail. It is flat, but the views are beautiful. If you go far enough, you cross the river going over an old train truss bridge that has been converted into a bridge for pedestrians to use. It is a beautiful walk. We always start at the Adna entrance to the trail. If you love the mountains and trees, consider taking highway 12 to Packwood. That area, besides the towns around Mt. Rainier, takes my breath away every time I visit. It is beautiful and not far from Chehalis. Plus, they have a lot of cute, unique, and delicious places you can stop and eat along the way. And while you are in Washington, don't miss out on visiting the Olympic Peninsula. It's beautiful!!! I also love visiting Cle Elum, Roslyn, Ronald, and Leavenworth... The Snoqualmie pass this time of year is beautiful and bus friendly. Washington is beautiful. It is stunning as fall hits, too, with the color changes. I hope you'll be around in Washington long enough to really see all of the natural beauty here....there is a lot to see!!! ❤

  • @Rehabit8

    @Rehabit8

    9 ай бұрын

    Glad you enjoyed! Yes, we have a drone but technically you need a license to fly/film/video in the US. Many KZreadrs just don't care but we have seen KZreadrs get fined for filming with a drone without a license and we don't want to risk it. One day if we have the time and finances to cover the cost, we will get a license.

    I’m so glad to hear you are continuing your lifestyle. Come back to Kentucky. It’s a beautiful state with lots of state parks. We do have mosquitoes though. May and June are great months, as well as October. Summers are hot and humid, but the benefits far out weigh it. We have horses, bluegrass, moonshine, country ham, and distilleries. Much slower living than what most places provide.

    I understand your reasons for slowing down a bit, short stopovers. are fin but then you have to drive, but if you stay in one place you get to find out even more about it and you get to talk to the people that live there. Lake Tahu was my favorite place with absolutely stunning scenery. but you have been to other very beautiful places along the way. I don't think you would suit vanlife as it would be too small. Have a wonderful week

    Hi Don and Mela, I have a nice idea that you might consider is to buy a piece of property that has a driveway and a sewer and a well and along with possiblya large shed or a garage and live in your Bus as you can call it home and from time to time plan special trips but that would always be your home base.

    A great review of the build and the first year. We traveled way too much in the first year. Now, we prefer to stay for at least a week but prefer two to three weeks. For us, the motor home is more of a mobile apartment and we don’t “tourist” too much. I like the van option but I wouldn’t be inclined to tow as we like having the Jeep to run around with. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for making them.
