After Learning to Code at 81, She Made a Game for Fellow Seniors
You’re never too old to learn how to code. Three years ago, Masako Wakamiya noticed the lack of fun game apps for senior citizens and created her own at the age of 81. It’s called Hinadan, and it’s inspired by a traditional Japanese doll festival. We met Wakamiya, now 84, in Kanagawa, Japan, and learned how this IT evangelist and digital creator is empowering other senior citizens to make the most of technology.

I am so encouraged by this woman. I thought I was stretching it going back to school in my late 40s. I never want to stop learning.
Taught herself how to code so she can create an app for her fellow senior citizens, good for her! Helping others connect with technology. Wholesome.
She got my deepest admiration. As a former C language developer, I know how difficult it is to code. I have left my programming career many years ago but still work in IT field. No more excuses for me to get back into coding. Show this video to those who say "I'm too old for this".
She is just 30 years old in Japanese standarts.
This lady is now my superhero and one of the people i look up to the most 💫💕 she's magic!
This channel makes some of the most interesting videos in youtube
Grandma I love you, you make me feel ashamed that I spent my whole life telling me what I can't do.
She is (i don't the term but) one of the 'dope old people' in this earth
I think this is really nice, instead of trashing the new technology and younger generation for using it, she decided to used it on her own advantage and help out the people her age that have troubles with it as well. I think this is how "Boomer" should have feel about phone and internet just because it's "new" doesn't mean it's "bad" And I've now become motivated to learn how to code, this lady is great!!
She’s so humble, even to Google Home. She asks it “Could you please tell me ...”
Learning to code at 46 and am struggling. This gives me hope! Never to old to learn something new ❤️
SHE TAUGHT HERSELF HOW TO CODE i hope all you youngers complaining take heed of this lady ok pls as YOU are our earth's future
She is an inspiration to the younger generation.
I’m so proud of her. What she’s doing helps a lot with the technological barriers that lot of aging individuals may encounter.❤️❤️👏🏻👏🏻
Here I am 24 years old wasting time contemplating that i’m behind in progress compared to those i know as i learn coding,,,, thank you Ma’am you have inspired and encouraged me to keep going, to keep learning with purpose, it’ll pay off 💜
This is too wholesome for me
The last sentence! "I thought that this way of communicating was something that gave people wings."
OMG.... I'm completely in awe and blown away.. What an inspiration is she.. I'll remember this role model and will never stop learning even when I'm 80.. which is in 60+ years
I'm still studying I.T,Grandma just shows me to never giveup on learning to code despite her age she preservere and fulfilled what she wants to do and now helping others to have a better life.. I like to be like that someday.
Must be pretty exciting from her 84 year old perspective seeing how technology has advanced for decades
A great spark of inspiration during such a difficult time! I simply love the fact she is keeping mentally sharp by doing this.

This proves learning has no limits or age. So happy watching her
She's sooo awesome!! Keeping yourself healthy and active physically, mentally and brain-ly will take you a lonnnnnng way! She still looks so sharp for her age!! sending lots of love and blessings to her! 🙏💖👏😊

Truly inspired by this amazing woman. She didn’t let the odds stop her.
This is what I gotta ant and love to find in old folks. An appreciation of the things from the younger generation, not a repulsion. I think we need more people like her.
This alone gives me hope not to give up easily ❤ thank you grandma

a really touching story, it's really really great to see old people getting around with tech, it's a great thing to follow, later on we'll be the old ones, it's good if we follow this example
I instantly downloaded the game and played it. It was fun, I was looking forward to see more of it. Additional levels and other kinds of festival decorating. I understood it right away. Looking forward to it! 😉😉
she is my inspiration...I am 52 and have older children. I stayed home to raise them but now I need the next chapter in my life. I've made the excuse that I am too old because employers won't hire me. I will go back to school and supplement my education. Thank you Wakamiya-san.
