After Effects Faux 3D

Фильм және анимация

✨Motion Practice Quest: xpguild.com/motion-practice-q...
This tutorial is all about the different techniques to create After Effects faux 3D. We are going to cover 3 different fake 3D rotation animations in After Effects so that we get a fuller picture of the possibilities.
In this fake 3D animation tutorial we will create a cube, sphere, and even dabble in a bit of real 3D without ever leaving After Effects.

    Another awesome tutorial🎉 never tried gradients like that, interesting use case. The c4d extrusion is great and you can create some interesting things with it. I'll definitely try the gradient trick next. Thanks for sharing

    Thanks Justin! The extrusion certainly opens some doors...and can be super helpful with simple 3D stuff! Drop me a link if you do create something with the gradient technique...I would be keen to see! FYI it opens up another set of challenges because it flattens the 3D-ness but the subsequent problem-solving element is satisfying 🙃

    That gradient tip for the c4d renderer is great, the only reason I haven't used it much is because of the limitations on how you can colour it hopefully at some point they be able to add gradients in natively.

  • @MotionXP

    @MotionXP

    Жыл бұрын

    I totally agree! My solution is really just a workaround but to have native gradients for the C4D renderer would be fire! The other workaround I know is to stay in the classic 3D renderer (which allows you to use gradients), then duplicate your 3D layer like 30+ times and then move each duplicate back in z-space by 1 (so, 1, 2, 3, 4 , etc. until you run out of duplicates). Then parent everything to null and when you rotate the null the duplicates will create a fake extrusion. But, even though you'll get gradient on the front, you wont get it on the extrusion...unless of course, you changed the colour individually across all the duplicates...but that would be...very time-consuming 🙃

    here is another way of changing the extrusion color: 1. Make the shape layer 3d 2. Duplicate it 3. Extrude only the layer that is under the other one. Now you do not have to do keying to add different gradients to the shape and the extrusion separately.
