    The alternators are the first to go on these since they sit low and get hit with all the mud water, my 07 was the exact same way. Kind of the achilles heel with taking these engines off road.

    You should open your alternator, i normally try to repair them instead using a Chinese one. Can be it ate the brushes cause the mud and sand.

    I should. It probably could of been repaired but I'm leaving to go on a trip soon and didn't really have time to "try fixing it". I've never opened one before. Is it hard? I might look that up...🤔

    I learned years ago to use factory parts after replacing the stater 4 times in a week on my 2004 Tundra 4.7 V8 thats under the intake manifold. I put a Toyota remanufactured starter and no issues afterwards

    Yeah. On one hand I like using OEM Nissan parts. I know they will most likely last a long time. But I don't like payinb damn near $700 for an alternator lol

    Just had my battery swapped out for an antigravity… pricey but hands down best battery ive ever used… even with the electric power steering in the gladiator, this thing is waay better than any agm battery ive ever used…

    ​@reallegend667 lithium battery. I have them in my bikes. Light and work well. Looking to grab one for my 23 pro4x but having issue with finding 1. Other brands make them but I dig antigravity so far. They are very expensive though

    Why the f*ck would Nissan put an alternator that low on the vehicle? I have thought about getting a Pro-4X as a second (more comfortable) vehicle after my Jeep is paid off but this may have changed my mind. 😅

    It was like 18 months to 2 years most auto parts stores would have have what you needed. In pulling the alternator did you figure a way for a mini skid shield like a mini bicycle fender

    It's definitely doable.. probably could use the same bolts that hold the alternator on as the mounts. Not sure if the alternator would get too hot? It's already pretty tight done there lol

    The alternator is in the wrong spot, Nissan F'd up here. It is very vulnerable down low when off roading, gets dirty and wet..

    The rear diff lock sensor also has to come from Z1 or the dealer as well. So they must have an exclusive rights contact or something.

    100%. I put this think through alot and it hasn't had any issues yet. A low hanging alternator is probably the only design issue this truck has. The best thing about the truck is it simplicity.

    did you do the vvcs disable? [unplug or pink depin]? - this looks like the variable voltage system wreaking havoc

    yes, it does. I initially thought the same thing. However, since replacing the alternator, the voltage has been very steady and not all over the place like it used to be. I mean, it varies a little bit, but within normal range ... I still would like to remove that system or unplug it if possible.

    to be honest filming that part was the last thing on my mind. We have been fucking with this thing for over an hour trying to remove it without damaging the electrical clip on the back. I was just ready to be done. 😂
