After 2 Years in the Hangar, the Hodek Comes Out to Play

Ғылым және технология

The 35.75" rubber-powered Hodek HK-101 free-flight model returned to Wawayanda. Built in 2016, the model came in at 82.77 grams, needed 1.75g of tail ballast, and uses an additional 34.78g of rubber. Each motor is two loops of .187" (3/16") x 34". Gives me 1650-1700 winds and 80-85 seconds or so of motor run with the 10.5" props. All up weight is 119.30g for a wing loading of .51gm.sq.in. Music via ArtList. Filmed with a Canon PowerShot SX20, and iPhones 11Pro & 14Pro.

Beautiful! I did RC for 35 years, but your models and videos bring back the magic I felt as a young boy when my adventure into the wild blue yonder began. Thanks for posting such mesmerizing content!

I spent years flying RC gliders, after rubber powered free flight as a kid. Your model makes me want to go back to my roots.

There is a magical quality in letting a model aircraft fly itself without human intervention or modern technology. I am mesmerised by the flying videos, my father would have absolutely loved your channel had he lived to see it, RIP Dad. 😢🙏♥️🌈🇬🇧

Pretty little thing and a graceful flier. It's nice to see this rendition still doing what she does best considering the ignominious fate of the prototypes.

Been going to free flight meets for about 70 years and never heard music In the clouds beyond perhaps in a poetic sense. a commentary on your impressions and adjustments might add to presentation. Very nice model though. Are the props right and left handed?

wow!! flying as true as, looks like the air was as still as, too.............. also: is the rubber at least two years old, or newly replaced for this flight ??

Thx. I enjoyed seeing her float. Yes, it was the same rubber that was left in it from 2 years prior. It might have had 2-3 full power winds on it, so I was glad they both made it up to this number of turns at least. Time to replace them.

Motor vibration wastes energy. Stopping the motor at a noninteger division will repress the vibration. Experiment with making harmonics on a violin string to see the principle.
